Among Us Notes & Thoughts
I’m mostly making this so I can put all of my notes and experiences in one post that way I won’t forget because I tend to get into the rush of being imposter or get preoccupied with interrogating as a crew mate. I’m only doing Skeld so far because it’s the map I’ve been on the most.
As imposter:
1. Kill the ones who ask questions first, the ones you know who have their brain gears turning to figure out who the imposter is. DO NOT FAKE TASKS AROUND THEM. They are observant and they will figure you out.
2. When the whole crew is split into pairs, do not kill. If you do and it’s your partner, they’re gonna blame you. Instead, lock doors at random while faking tasks. Don’t lock doors where you and your partner are at. This is to make the crew mates become suspicious of each other.
3. If you’re in a group of three, do not kill yet. Wait for the other two to go in a room and trapped them inside while you wait at the door. This will cause suspicion between the other two. They might think “oh this guy isnt killing me bc of the player outside HUZZAH i know ur the impoSTER STAY AWAY”. If the two start accusing each other and no one’s airlocked yet, have one of them killed but make sure you have an alibi in case somebody else suspects you;
4. How to make an alibi? I only know two ways so far (1.) Stick with someone as much as you can so they can vouch for your innocence. You have to gain somebody’s trust. This can be done from the previous rounds or the current round. (2.) Distance. The vents in Skeld stick to one side. So if you make a kill, make sure to use sabotage or the doors to get people away from the body and keep yourself to the opposite side as well so in case someone reports and they were the only ones nearby, you can accuse them. These alibis are only doable once after you’ve killed though.
5. Kill crew mates who have proven their innocence through visual tasks. Information control is important but so is making sure it’s obsolete. Who gives a shit a person did a visual task if they’re dead?
6. If you HAVE to fake tasks near the smart crew mates, sabotage comms.
7. If you’re confident to pull this off or trust the second imposter, if you catch them pass by the storage, medbay, or weapons alone with no one else to see, you can lie they did a visual task. If you did this and it turned out they were caught, say you watched the task bar fill up. I tried this once and I was almost caught. I’m sure the reason why I didn’t get voted off too was because I got someone to trust me early on.
8. If you are an ESPECIALLY a deviant bastard (also known as the kiss ass tactic), you can try befriending someone and get them to trust you during waiting in lobby or in the game. Play the long con and get them to vouch for you all the way.
9. Always. vouch. for. people. This increases the chance they’ll vouch for you too. This mostly works for public servers in text chat. Not sure how it’ll fare well with friends in voice chat. Lmao my friends are always highkey suspicious of me and are also highly competitive so I can’t use the kiss ass tactic no matter how many UwUs I do.
10. This doesn’t always work but you could try lying players who depend their alibi on you. “hey imposter you saw me pass by right? i did wires at cafe” “nah” “oh :(” or “you saw me do trash!” “i didnt i left early”. This will isolate them. It might cast suspicion on them and make the others think they’re lying but I haven’t tried this myself yet.
11. If two crew mates are accusing each other just stay quiet but not too quiet because quiet people can automatically be judged as suspicious.
12. When the game starts, stay for a short while and see which is going where. If you notice someone checking you out or doing the same thing, fake a task in cafeteria. Note who this person is and if they turn out to be one of those smart players then target them first.
13. Stack kills are your best friend! Only and ONLY if everyone or most of the players are there with you. The best place to stack kill in Skeld is in comms because it’s one spot therefore one small crowd. Also, if you’re doing a stack kill, make sure it’s at the beginning of the game because that’s the only time when you know no one can prove they’ve done a visual task. If you’re doing a stack kill anyway make sure that you’ve already killed the ones who are proven safe. If you are STILL doing a stack kill, pleeeease make sure that there’s at least 3-4 crew mates left who haven’t been proven safe yet;
14. OR. OR OR. It’s a little risky but if those who are proven innocent are only a pair and they have no one else to vouch for them except themselves, you can accuse them of being the imposters. This ONLY works if the other imposters haven’t been airlocked yet.
