I know destler and carriere are gonna sweep, but I'm still curious
#poll#other#i prefer no last name#if i feel i HAVE to use a last name for him then uuh i'd probs make up something#maybe like a ''the ___'' or ''of ___'' type deal#giving erik any last name at all‚ to me personally‚ is fanfictiony to the point of being immersion-breaking. it just takes me out of it.#that immediately feels like a completely different character to leroux erik

I am alive—and doing much better. I finally learned how to make a buffer so updates should be a lot more regular from here on out. <3

@rjdaae’s post reminded me that I never shared one of my birthday treasures: this gorgeous, Leroux-accurate graphic novel from France. Eternally grateful to @klausscrimshaw for putting it on my radar.

‘Phantom of the Organ’ figurine from Department 56′s ‘Snow Village Halloween’ collection. This piece was produced from 2003 to 2006. 9 inches tall. When switched on, the figurine plays a combination of ‘Toccata and Fugue’ and spooky sound effects, the Phantom’s arms move, and the lanterns and eyes of the organ’s skeleton face are illuminated. It is possible that the design of this piece drew inspiration from Greg Hildebrandt’s illustration of Leroux’s unmasking scene.

My favourite thing about Raoul is he never quite seems to grasp he’s not a romance hero

Keeping a eye on Red Death at the masked ball.
(Also the lady a shameless self-portrait because I can draw and I want to waltz with the Daroga so badly so I make my dreams come true)

@rjdaae and I watched this video back when she visited me a few months ago, and I remember getting pretty drawn into it. It’s a pretty great overview of the history of the 1925 silent film; if you don’t know just how convoluted that history is, I really recommend watching! It’s really a film with an incredible legacy.

“the daroga is an important character in the phantom of the opera and deserves recognition and representation in screen adaptations” i say into the mic.
the crowd boos, yelling at me to get off stage. i begin to walk off in shame when a voice speaks and commands silence from the room.
“they’re right,” they say. i look for the owner of the voice. there in 5th row stands gaston leroux himself.

the daroga is so powerful that many people fear putting him into versions of poto because he absolutely steals the show
