New Post!
http://www.fashionandstyleblog.com/
So while I wait extremely excited for these, I want to bring attention to my latest obsession. The Birkin. The Birkin bag is everywhere to the point where non fashion lovers probably recognize the bag and do NOT even know it.
The bag represents so many things. It’s effortlessly chic, I know – but it is more than that. The bag signifies class, exclusivity, and prestige. The bag says more about the person wearing it – which I find fascinating. It’s an extremely expensive piece and rare to have – which makes you think if it is worth it? Is it fair that Victoria Beckham has a rumored collection of at least 100 Birkin Bags and there are plenty of homeless people on the street? But I guess that could be said about many, many, things.
I know, I’m a hypocrite. But I do wonder.

What do you do when faced with a triggering moment when people are talking about losing weight or like conversations?
Awesome Girl.
I usually have no choice but to try to ignore the conversation, diverting my thoughts into something repetitive like “next topic please.” I’m often not courageous enough to intervene and tell whoever it may be to change the subject, because I wouldn’t want it to come across as rude, you know? Just a few days ago at Uni, I was put into a situation like this where a friend began telling me about her friend that is Anorexic, and whilst it really triggered me, I had to grin and bear until the conversation had ended. What triggers me most in situations like this is that the person talking will always put an emphasis on the weightloss of the person in question, and how “thin” they are. In an ideal world, you’d think people would be a little more careful of the conversations they engage in, but not everyone is educated and realise that simple conversations such as that can be as triggering as they are. People don’t know that even when someone is recovered, that we still get triggered by conversations like this.
Often, I just withdraw from the conversation by internally talking to myself that it will all be okay.. and wait for the next conversation to begin. We live in a world obsessed with appearance, and ‘skinny’, and ‘thin.’ That’s sadly not going to change anytime soon.
It’s often easier to deal with other triggers, because I can use the techniques I’ve learned over the years to turn my negative thoughts into positive ones. In these situations though, it’s harder to try to do that.

I can't stress why I love this caption enough.
Look, it's not even about changing your body image or anything. It's about what is really inside processed and packaged foods. In order to maintain a healthy lifestyle and prolong your life expectancy: you must eat as clean as possible. The amount of chemicals in processed foods are linked directly to diseases (one huge one being cancer). Natural foods have different vitamins and antioxidants that work with your body to keep you healthy!
Combining a healthy food lifestyle and form of exercise 3-4 times a week will keep you feeling happier, more confident, and will maintain your health!
Think positive; the inside of your body is not a garbage can - it is your link to life so treat it that way.

Spring 2012
There are endless possibilities.... PS - read this post from the bottom up :)
To end our favourite Spring 2011 RTW looks, we leave on a Michael Kors note.
His take is much different from the other designers we have highlighted - he focused on an African theme (inspired from a recent vacation) and we love the low key meets high fashion vibe. The slouchy dress is versatile because 1) it could be worn with leggings/jeggings or tights to change the look around and 2) the green/brown earth tones allow for a variety of colors to be matched up with. We love the large necklace because jewelry trends are heading towards a chunkier look...in this case, bigger=better! It is important to note as well, that the Roman-empire inspired sandels piece this look together to create an insanely stylish but effortless look.
Best Spring RTW Mix & Match
Christian Dior Spring 2011 RTW Photo: vogue.com
Next we must bring the latest Christian Dior collection to your attention We consider this look by Dior to be the best of all worlds! Bright color? Check. - done fabulously with the coral lip Pastel? Check. - excellent pearl colored see through skirt (full disclosure: we have a weakness for long length skirts!) Unique Feature? Check. - note the lovely black top with amazing detail. Dear Galliano; simply a job well done (insert applause here!)
Spring 2012
In the winter months, it's hard to think about spring! Who doesn't love having longer days and more fun in the sun? To get you all ready for spring and summer, we are going to review our favourite Spring 2012 RTW runway clothing looks [to review details on hair and makeup, please refer to those categories!:)]. UNDER THE SEA: A Review of Our Favourite Spring 2012 Theme A few designers went for an aquatic theme this season, which we happen to LOVE. We aren't sure if it's our love of Ariel's fabulous long red locks or the fact that we think of amazing vacation spots when we think "aquatic" - all we know is we adore the designers' different takes on the aquatic theme. One of the best looks in our opinion was delivered from Chanel; Lagerfeld's lovely take on pastel colors in the Chanel show stole our hearts! The look here is ultra-feminine with an emphasis on light colors - this is great because these colors accentuate the natural colors of our skin! Both bright and pastel colors are a must-have this spring/summer season which is ideal because this allows for many different style options and looks to take place.

Sarah Burton by Alexander McQueen Spring 2012 RTW photo: taken from vogue.com
We simply cannot get Sarah Burton out our heads. The Alexander McQueen Spring 2011 RTW looks were very versatile, as Burton brought out a few different colors and patterns throughout the show. She went for an aquatic look, similar to Chanel; however, her use of color surpassed the rest. Burton brought in some drastic looks in black, while tip-toeing back to pearl and seashell colors. We love this aquatic futuristic look on the right because it's an easy ready to wear option for all of us who cannot afford high fashion brands. The fitted bustier style top that ends with a flirty flow-like style is probably the most practical wearable style that we found throughout the shows. Brands such as Aerie, provide similar options in pastel colors that were emphasized in the Chanel Spring RTW show. Talk about a win-win ladies!

Gucci Spring 2012 RTW Photo: vogue.com
For a drastic difference from the looks we fell in love with at Chanel and Alexander McQueen; we look towards Frida Giannini's Gucci collection. The collection consisted primarily of darker colors with a bright colored accent. Teal was the accent color of focus, which we adore when paired with black. The higher waisted black pant with the low plunge teal top is one of our favourite looks for numerous reasons. The black pant is a simple yet elegant style which we can thank the higher rise and length for. We especially love the pant paired with the over-size sunglasses because it can be a very affordable couture look for anyone to re-create. We suggest our favourite black pant from Wilfred to re-create this look, paired with sunglasses from Forever21 that are affordable for any kind of bargain hunter!

Spring 2012 Couture Trends
The House of Christian Dior Creative Director: Bill Gaytten
Christian Dior Spring 2012 Couture Photo: vogue.com
One of our favorite looks right now is achieved through a transparent element in an outfit choice. We are loving transparent flowy style tops, which is why we fell in LOVE with the looks from Christian Dior in this spring Couture collection. We do recommend to keep it classy however; we are not saying see-through pants is in! We just adore when some skin is showing through a flattering fabric.
Chanel Spring 2012 Couture Photo: Vogue.com
Lagerfeld contrasted yet complimented his Spring 2012 RTW show through his 2012 Couture collection. His direct color choice for this collection consists primarily of blue, grey, black and white. Some trends we have noticed and loved within this collection is the extravagant sleeves on many of the outfits. The sleeves seen on most of the outfits have a majestic royal feel which we love because it can be used as an interesting way to play up any plain outfits. The detailing in many of the outfits consisted of the color blue, which we now see as one of the most predominant colors of the season!

Spring 2012 - Accessorize it!
Michael Kors Spring 2012 Accessories Photo: vogue.com
Here are some of our fav spring 2012 accessories! (our wishlist *coughcough*) 1. The Michael Kors animal print wrist cuffs. we imagine this paired with gold bracelets and gold, brown, or black rings. 2. The adorable D&G back (bottom right) that also comes in many pastel colors! 3. Burberry Prorsum wedges - love these because this style elongates your legs and gives the illusion of more height. The peep-toe makes these wedges wearable throughout the spring, summer, and even early fall season if you dare! The boot-like style is unique, cool, and super trendy. Plus, the brown and beige colors will flatter a tan!

Kim Kardashian takes an awesome spin on the bright colors that are on trend for spring! By pairing a bright barbie pink blazer with an all black outfit, she creates an effortless look that is easy to achieve. Spring 2012 Makeup Forecast
Spring 2012 Makeup Forecast!
The spring makeup forecast is anything but predictable! Since the clothing trends this season are full of bright and pastel colors; many makeup artists have opted for neutral palettes to offset the bright attention receiving colors of the clothing. That being said, a bold lip trend has officially been spotted. Very obvious is the Christian Dior Spring 2012 bright coral look, however; 3 Dimensional lips are the most unique look to date that has recently been seen!
I'm so Lashing.....
Lash Trend Alert! BOLD IS BACK. The great thing about this trend is that you can tailor to the look however you feel. Whether the bold lash is through an intense full and dramatic length, a long and defined look, or a spider lash style; this look is yours! We are loving the cat-eye look right now .... (okay, it's a rare occasion when we don't); however, the cat eye is a perfect makeup look that is dramatic but not over-bearing against the popular colors this season. Some colors we will hint you towards are navy - this is a popular color for a softer take on the smokey eye look. That being said, we are jolly for jelly! Jelly bean colors are trendy this season for eye shadow - so you KNOW how many options that is! Pow Brow - This season, both bold and neutral brows are in. We don't suggest anything too bold or dark - this is usually reserved for runway looks - however a full brow is always the perfect compliment and can pull a look together instantaneously. Also, keep in mind that both bold and neutral brow looks have been spotted on the runway; therefore, feel free to use your imagination to a higher degree here. But, we recommend...... We really enjoy the simple look to offset the colors this season. We recommend you to stick with neutral faces when paired with a bold outfit.

Spring 2012 Hair Trends
Spring 2012 Hair Trends
Effortless and Chic; Kate Middleton inspired locks are in trend this spring! Whether you are going to rock a simple & full of body blow-out or luscious curls and waves - both looks are fierce! [PS. Check out the tutorials page for some tips and tricks for both curls and blow outs!) Post Date: Jan 21
Colored Ends
Pastel colors are hot this upcoming spring season in clothing - but heres the twist - ALSO in hair! The lighter/darker colored ends has been growing as a hair trend within the last few months & by adding in a unique color you can really make this look yours. If you feel as though a pastel color may be a tad too bold for you, opt for a color a few shades darker or lighter than your natural hair color - that way you can rock an awesome look without feeling too overbearing! As long as you are confident - you will look GREAT!
Super Short & Sleek Hair
Simply put; with the right cut and style - short hair is amaze. It is effortlessly chic and just screams high fashion when properly done. Celebs such as Emma Watson (right) have transformed their entire look due to the dramatic effect of short hair! In numerous runway shows, we spotted many models rocking this look, but seriously how could you not want too? Pair a chic short haircut with oversized sunglasses and a bold lipcolor to instantly declare yourself in the fashion world!

We can't even begin to express our excitement for Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday Viva Glam Lipstick! It was released feb 2012 and we were patiently waiting a looong time to see it! The thing about viva glam lipstick is that it is fashion for a cause. Every cent of viva glam lipstick sales go towards the Mac Aids Fund. Some programs within the Mac Aids Fund include kids helping kids, HIV and aging, various community grants, and specific focuses within South Africa and the Caribbean. We are so excited for Nicki's color because we are a huuuuge Nicki Minaj fan! We love everything she stands for and we think shes downright adorable and unique.

Product Review: Mac Studio Fix
Mac Studio Fix Power Plus Foundation $32 CAD http://www.maccosmetics.com
Up until this current day, we just cannot find a replacement for the Mac Studio Fix Power Plus Foundation. This matte and full coverage powder provides perfect coverage and glides on smooth with an effortless look. How to Use: Sponge: The powder comes with a circle sponge applicator, located at the bottom of the container. The sponge is a great applicator for those who want a thicker coverage. Brush: On the other hand, a round brush is perfect because you can control the amount of makeup that will be applied. You can apply as desired, where as the sponge applicator typically gives a thicker coverage right away. For a good powder brush, we recommend the Mac 129SH Powder/Blush brush ($41CAD http://www.maccosmetics.com). DEFINITELY rated five out of five stars! Good Job MAC.

Having Healthy Hair Rules; So Follow our Healthy Hair Rules! x
Having beautiful healthy hair is always a desirable goal. There is no use in having long gorgeous locks or an adorable pixie cut if your hair just doesn't have an immense amount of shine, body, and vibrance. If you follow our hair tips and use the products that is recommended; we guarantee that you will fall in love with your new and improved healthy hair! Rule 1. This is probably the most painful rule but you should always have your hair cut! Split ends are a no-no. We know, We know..we have heard it all! "hair grows from the top; therefore, why should I cut off the bottoms!". If you have split ends, your hair isn't going to style to it's best ability, will break even more, and could possibly cause even more damage. If you don't want to go to a hairdresser and get a dramatic cut - do what we do. Take scissors to the split ends of your hair and cut in an upward motion. We will provide a tutorial to do this if you do not know how. PS. Please don't try this unless you are confident enough to know you won't butcher your hair! LOL. Rule 2. Invest in quality hair products! This rule is almost more important than rule number one. Your hair products must be professionally made and you must buy them from a salon, beauty outlet, or a hairdressing store. With the use of proper products, your hair will look and feel amazing after one shower and style session. Some products we recommend are: Shampoo & Conditioner: Sebastian Penetraitt Treatment: Moroccan Oil Restorative Hair Mask (smells delish) - we suggest this over the other Moroccan oil hair mask because this one is specially made for dry and damaged hair. If you want more hydration try either the intense or weightless hydrating masks from Moroccan Oil. Another treatment that we recommend is the Saryna Key African Shea Butter leave in hair treatment. This is made out of Shea butter and has more natural ingredients than competitors! Leave In Treatments: Moroccan Oil Original Treatment (mmm smells delish), Kevin Murphy Leave In Luxury (smell isn't our fav), Sebastian Potion 9 (smell isn't overbearing). We have tried and tested all of these, many times. We love them and will never leave them. Our personal Fav right now is Kevin Murphy! Shine Spray: Sebastian Halo Mist Hairspray: Moroccan Oil Luminous Hairspray - Strong and Flexible Hold (smells delish!) Rule 3. Try to avoid hair dye. I know, it is difficult. Therefore, we suggest to avoid bleach at all costs. If you are bleaching your hair at any point, PLEASE use a hair mask and leave in treatment always. Rule 4: Eat healthy! What? You didn't know that what you eat affects your hair!? For girls who have unhealthy diets in general or who skip meals to lose weight (ps. that will not work!) - you have to have a healthy diet full of greens, protein, and fishoil to help your hair grow. PS. Did you know that not only is fishoil amazing for your hair, it also helps your nails grow! Oh, and added bonus: it's excellent for the brain! :P (full disclosure; we are kidding about that being an added bonus, we just hope you are trying to keep your brain healthy already! x) Rule 5: Avoid heat. Obviously we know just how difficult this is to do, but we have to say it anyway! If you cannot avoid heated tools, make sure you use products to protect your hair from heat damage! There you have it! A few important (and hairchanging!) rules about how to look after your hair.
