blue suns watched them unmasked, the cracks a sickening sight but one phainon has to adjust to. they remind them this is their future, their fate to burn into a husk of their former self, yet they still will burn evermore. the heaviness, the agony, that is their fate, and phainon was petrified.

yet their hand stroking their cheek, a featherly touch marking future pain that slowly formed on their ever cracking visage, the deliverer blinks, tears threatening their eyes as they try and think of something - anything - to reply to that question.

"i..." they whisper, unsure how to even confront this question. of course they are, unless they can sway their fate to end up something that isn't khaos. but, they're not that powerful, they're just a deliverer.

They understood each other, as perhaps only two mirrors could. Khaos had done their time in the sun; now, all that remained was a shattered husk, reflecting only the light they'd once had.

They heave a heavy sigh from the depths of their cracked chest, and slowly lift up a clawed hand to remove their mask, as if that movement alone was exhausting. Their pale face, run through with faintly glowing cracks, remains as hard and impassive as stone, but a sliver of softness — pity maybe, though they had long since stopped putting a name to such distractions — runs through their voice.

"Of course. The pain. . . is all the humanity that remains." They lift their hand again, and the tip of their gauntlet brushes over Phainon's cheek, mirroring where a crack is beginning to split their own face. "One day soon, your crumbling body will only burn with stolen flames. Are you scared, Phainon?"
