🥚 PAGING THE MEGUCA FANDOM OF TUMBLR 🥚

I'm a part of a BEEEEG orchestral cover medley of select songs from Puella Magi Madoka Magica! After working on this with a bunch of other musicians for almost 9 months, we are finally ready to release this project to the world. It's just over 21 minutes of music! 🙀

Come watch the premiere on Saturday, October 5th at 6pm (PDT)/9pm (EDT)! We're also having an after party following the premiere!

I'm also gonna hold a totsumachi/call-in stream before the premiere, but it's entirely for myself and unofficial LMAO

The VTuber Symphony Orchestra is a group of VTuber musicians that I've had the pleasure of recording covers with for the past year. After starting in 2023, we've grown to having about 20 members to 45 members! We even have some indie Japanese VTubers joining us this year!

Please spread the word! We're but a small group but have big ambitions and a lot of passion for music, even beyond the spoken language barrier!

I hate that I'm back to having to share this, but my financial situation is once again not great (tm). For those who don't know, I lost my job a few months back and have been stuck on unemployment since.

While I do have a part time job now and can still qualify for some unemployment payments, I barely get paid over $100 for a week's worth even with $16 an hour.

It's been piling up, so I updated my G0fundme appropriately with a little bit of a breakdown of my current finances.

While I do not want to force anybody to donate, all I ask is that you share it around if possible. I know a lot is going on in the world right now on a much bigger scale, but every little bit helps me out. Thank you.

I had the opportunity to be a part of the Flower of Nohr Zine (@feelisezine), dedicated to our cinnamon roll princess Elise from Fire Emblem Fates!

This is one of many cute Elise-related things included in this FREE fanzine, so please check it out and enjoy what else was done for this project!

Thank you to all my friends who supported and helped me through this project. I REALLY wanted to do her justice!

There's at least one character in a given FE that makes me go all heart-eyed when they first get introduced. My first Fire Emblem game, Fates Birthright, had such a scene--the part where Elise suddenly appears disguised as a flower girl. That scene nearly became what I chose to reference.

Instead I wanted to reference the fact that she CANONICALLY plays violin, something you'd only know looking at her Revelations support conversations between her and Sakura, which in turned revealed the latter to be a koto player. I happened to stumble across that set of scenes on YouTube and my heart melted on the spot. It was so wholesome! The cherry on top was the inclusion in the soundtrack of an actual violin and koto solo dedicated to them both. (I'm also happy that it's apparently a track in FEH now!)

I considered adding Sakura with my piece, deciding against it due to added complexity and not having drawn any Fates character except for Elise. The violin posing was a lot on its own...

Time to break out the world's smallest violin ;w;

Emergency entry into my [late] VTuber Drawtober prompts for outgoing VTuber Pomu Rainpuff!

I'm gonna miss Pomu. A lot. She's a genuine legend in VTubing and my first oshi not from Hololive for how contagious her passion is. I hope success finds her wherever she ends up next in life!

I didn't pull Pomu out of my list of names for Drawtober last year, but let's pretend I did X3

Context: In her first Metal Gear-related stream (Metal Gear Rising), she mentioned she played violin in high school, so this is a reference to that. (She's also mentioned playing flute before, and has played autoharp on stream too!) While explaining the story of how she knew the song Heavens Divide, she mentioned singing the solo vocals for that song in her school orchestra instead of playing violin.

She was also wearing her then-new Maid Pomu outfit during that stream, plus a headband asset she drew for Metal Gear. The Maid outfit is still one of my favorite model designs PERIOD, not just among Pomu's outfits (which I all like for one reason or another). It feels like such a love letter to Pomu's passion for idol and maid culture in a way that's uniquely her own. Her mama did an incredible job on all four of her models!

I did art for #GeorgExtraLife! Here's some overdue artwork from the 2021 event: @malmakes gave Micaiah a Southern accent while playing FE Radiant Dawn (as did Stephen to Edward), so now this is happening lol

I'm tempted to do the same with Yunaka...

Edit: Extra Life has ended by now. We raised $113k for Stephen Georg's hometown children's hospital!

The quintessential band/orchestra experience of having to stop right before an anticipated entrance... except you're waiting for the performer to recalibrate themselves and it's not the rehearsal. "...What do you mean, 'step off the Wii Balance Board'?!"

Something 'bout my sketches

Thanks for the reception towards my silly little Flayn doodle! 💚

You may notice that my sketches/lineart doodles use a light gray background instead of a white background. I do that because a white background can strain the eyes more than gray. I used to draw with a white background but honestly toning that saturation down to 80% just helps that much. Since I don't plan to touch it up further than that, I just end up leaving the background as it is. If I'm actually gonna do a background, that's when I worry about color a bit differently.

At the same time, it's not perfect. If you're worrying about color contrast it's a bad time. This made it hard for me to balance color well in the Flayn art because the outfit was mostly light colors, so I had to tone the colors down a bit and even that wasn't enough in some spots.

I still recommend doing it though! And hopefully my choice saves your own eyes too!

Now that I'm on Tumblr again, I wanted to show a full body piece I commissioned @sonocomics a while back. This is one of the first portraits I got made of my persona, Fayelinya! I'm happy to finally put this on Tumblr—now that I realized, anyway XD
