No.. I mean, yes. I mean, I don't know, Evan. He caught me off guard, I don't -- I'm sorry? I-I didn't know what to say.. It's Jake, y'know? And I didn't know what we were, Evan. How could I -- Just say something, please.
Suddenly, he fell his whole word crashing down. The muscles around his chest area contracted, making it feel like his heart was going to explode. Evan parted his lips, his throat feeling oddly dry. The boy had been expecting this to happen someday, but not today — not like this. A small sound left his mouth as he furrowed his eyebrows and looked down. The eyes that were usually filled with hoy around her, were now starting to feel damp and blank. “Jake — Evan tried to sart but his voice broke; it was like something inside his body was begging him to stop. ” Jake’s your boyfriend?” he asked with a shaky voice.

As she felt him intertwining their fingers, her heart began to race and for a second she found it hard to breathe. But as soon as the words had left her lips, she took a deep breath, trying to gather her thoughts. Every inch of her body was aching for him, for kissing him again and all the thoughts from before, every doubt, had disappeared. "I don't regret a thing with you either." She whispered back, keeping her eyes locked with his as she slightly moved closer, feeling as if his presence was pulling her in. And just like the first time they'd met, she felt intoxicated by being close to him.
"Good." Was all Oliver uttered for a moment, before the unbearable silence settled and the tension between them cracked like a live feed of electricity. What could he say, or do? Nothing would make her stay, despite how hard he tried to convince himself otherwise. “I guess so,” he finalised, trying to keep his voice steady. “But look, Stacy… I just,” Oliver lingered on his next words as they stuck in his throat, suddenly unsure of himself. His hand reached out, looking for hers amidst the pitch-black darkness that filled the car, seeking the comfort of her skin against his once more. Finally, Oliver found her hand and for a split second, he hesitated — though, deciding not to think about the consequences, he grasped it, her palms against his palms, fingers laced with hers. “I don’t regret a thing with you.” Oliver told her, his voice an intimate, breathy whisper.

As she listened to his words she chewed on her bottom lip, it really never could be them. And maybe it was the alcohol that had convinced her otherwise for those split seconds before, but as soon as she thought about her dads and what they would say if they found out -- her mind had changed. She couldn't be with him, no matter how much she wanted to. "Yeah, I uh .. I get it." She replied, taking a deep breath. "So I should probably get going, huh?" She looked up at him, almost giving him a pleading look. But despite her previous thoughts, she still longed to be closer to him, feeling his skin against hers, even if it was only for a second.
Oliver’s shoulders rose in a shrug, his heavy-lidded eyes studying her face intently. “Sure,” he muttered, bringing the car to a slow, steady stop beside the side-walk. And this was were they were to part ways, say goodbye and be on with their lives — except, Oliver wasn’t so sure that he wanted to. Despite the fact that the only real relationship they could, and would, ever have was inside the classroom, Oliver had a hard time letting go. “Here we are.” He said softly, as if speaking too loudly and too harshly would push her away, make her leave that much faster. Inside, he wanted to be harsh. He felt as if he had a right to speak and act coldly towards her, after what she’d done to him. Though, he didn’t have the heart. “I would apologize to your fathers for you being late — and drunk, but…” Oliver’s voice died down suddenly, his words still lingering in the air between them.

Stace felt her heart beginning to beat faster against her chest and she quickly swallowed, avoiding eye contact with Evan. "Y-you talked to Jake?"
A smile was plastered on his face as the girl turned around fully to listen to him. “I fixed a date for you and your boyfriend!” Evan cheerfully said, a soft giggle escaping his lips.
