okay this is totally dumb but. In Tweek x Craig, Mr. Adler tried to save Kenny’s life, one of the few times someone has tried throughout the show (especially in the early seasons, which obviously TXC was). BUT Mr. Adler is also later shown to be a member of the Cult of Cthulu, which is somehow related to Kenny and his immortality, because of his parents. DOES THIS MEAN ANYTHING? (No.)
OH FUCK????????????? WOW THATS ACTUALLY INTERESTING?????

it is kinda funny how Clyde has become the guy outside of the main 5 who M+T can fuck with or make do absolute bullshit nonsense and get away with it because he's largely irrelevant otherwise and has very little standing canon power to future episodes if he does something dumb

My thoughts on the newest South Park episode
(Warning: Spoilers ahead!)
-For starters, I LOVED the commentary. Genuinely the most balls I’ve seen from this show in a LONG ass time. The digs at both Trump and Paramount were absolutely hilarious, like DAMN they did not come to play nice at ALL
-I couldn’t stop laughing at the Trump parody, it was so silly and ridiculous oh my god, 10/10 accurate depiction. Also Saddam apparently being Trump? Absolute gold 👌
-SATAN IS BACK!!!! THE GOAT!!!! 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
-Randy using/complimenting chat gpt while Sharon sits right next to him was a great dig on people who rely too heavily on that kind of stuff instead of the actual people in their lives
-Damn it Stan, let Jesus sit at your lunch table (shit had me cackling)
-The reporter straight up calling Stan the f word had me in shambles
His face is so funny, he looks so offended
- Cartman deciding that not only was he going to take himself out, but Butters as well was too good (poor Butters can’t catch a break, can he?)
This whole sequence took me outttt
Just the “us stotches are proud to own an electric car!” and the immediate cut to them
-Of course Cartman would be upset about woke being dead because he can’t make fun of them anymore, I didn’t expect anything less from him
-Kyle not having any lines and his main role in the episode being looking absolutely done with Cartman’s bullshit was very interesting to me. Like what, no gay speech? 🤔 who the hell are you and what have you done with Kyle?
This makes me wonder if that’s going to come up later on, or if it was just a one episode only thing to give focus on other characters
-“Power Christian principal” had me cackling
-The “pro” Trump message took me OUT, what the hell was THAT oh my god 😭😭
I’m wondering if this is gonna be a running gag now, if so I’d love to see what else they come up with
-

CREEK CRUMBS 🗣️🗣️🗣️
Overall opinions:
As previously mentioned, this is genuinely the most ballsy/“South Park” that this show has felt in a LONG time, and I enjoyed every bit of it. They made their point very clear and went into it HARD, and I loved it. It’s nice to see that this show is still able to do that.
Great way to start the season and I am definitely looking forward to seeing the other episodes!

I know his son has already said as much, but Isaac Hayes' son just spoke up again about his departure from the show and how scientology forced him out.
It just breaks my heart honestly. Fuck scientology.

S27E1 post-air thoughts
Overall this premiere feels like more of a set up for something to come than a cohesive stand-alone episode-- which is both intriguing and somewhat concerning, especially since episodic seasons have been hit or miss depending on how they play it.
However, the message of the episode is clear: people are scared to say anything in fear of being canceled or facing a lawsuit, and South Park is unafraid to swing the bat at the hornets nest and get away with it.
What I appreciate most, that I haven't felt in a while from a season premiere, is a fire from Matt and Trey. They are revved up on multiple fronts and ready to absolutely kick the shit out of everyone without restraint. Their opinions are very clear and the way how the feel about Everything-- the state of the country, the state of South Park as a show, their growing tension with networks and deals and lawsuits and all of that junk... that gives me hope that with "inspiration" (if you will) they'll put out some of their better work.
Episode highlights for me:
The return of Satan!! Although used only as a punchline (please stop doing this to yourself) it's nice to see he's not dead dead.
Garrison being relieved of his Trump stand-in duties for a long standing villain of a character... curious to see what they do with the implication that Hussein is posing as Trump. So far, the comparisons have been funny and relevant. If they don't draw this out too much and beat a dead horse it will be a good running joke/commentary for the season.
Butters and Cartman being allowed to be absolutely fucking stupid. Laughed out loud at the initial "suicide pact" conversation which I did not expect.
"Power Christian Principal"
Jesus's entire speech just oozes the rage of everything M+T have been dealing with the last year.
It's ultimately too early to tell where this season is going to go or how much I'm going to love it, but I am cautiously optimistic-- much more so than previous years.

No,
a long standing beloved show thats ingrained into American culture
who are armed with some of the most knowledgeable lawyers to keep their satire within perfectly legal boundaries
Who have survived serious threats from far "worse" offending episodes
Who's parent company have censored things they know will ultimately make them a target in the past
..are not going to actually get canceled. The point is to stick their tongue out and say "nah nah you think you can scare people into submission but we know we're allowed to fuck around". They know what they're doing. Matt and Trey are not that stupid give them some credit

Season 27 Opener
Going into this episode, I was really hoping Paramount would be dragged for sucking up to trump, and I wasn’t disappointed by any means. Say what you will about Matt and Trey, but those guys will always stick up for free speech, and in a time that feels so fucking tense like we’re losing the meaning of that, they pulled absolutely no punches. It felt so validating to me and for so many others that feel like we’re losing our goddamn minds in all this nonsense.
This puts Paramount in an impossible position, and it’s amazing to see. They just signed a MASSIVE deal with M&T, and are already facing a lot of backlash after both settling that lawsuit as well as firing Colbert. They were in the middle of just about literally sucking up to Trump so he’ll approve that stupid merger, but Trump obviously isn’t going to be pleased with this episode lmao. Love the shitty position this places Paramount in so much, because obviously, Paramount can’t cancel South Park. They had to of expected something like this, but it's still nice to see regardless.
I was wary of them using trump only because the Garrison arc was so exhausting, but not only did they bring back trump, they did it in probably the most fucking hilarious way. Reincarnating Suddam but basically as trump was such a great callback to the earlier show and brought back earlier vibes of the show, but it was just great in general. I wasn’t sure I wanted them to get too political, but this was just fantastic.
I watched this live with a big group of family and friends, and I don’t think I’ve ever watched one live (the other crazy historical SP episodes I didn’t get to watch live like this) that to this extent had so many folks simultaneously laughing with their jaws dropped as well as making sounds of delighted horror lol.
Some other random observations:
A lot can be said about PC Principal, and it seems like they’re setting things up for him to play this role of the man who all of a sudden takes a sudden turn into right wing Christianity as soon as they feel their masculinity is challenged like we’re seeing so much of in the US right now. Could be interesting if they keep playing to it (seems like they might?). His office was wild. I wonder if Strong Woman broke up with him?
Also thought it was funny how stan just threw craig under the bus in the principal’s office, and funny how craig was the one of the group who’d told Jesus the table was full and that they couldn’t sit with them, idk why (just imagining him saying that in his monotone voice lmao)
A bus stop scene! Loved that, though will still always say that SP is lacking part of its original charm without all main four boys at the bus stop and those more frequent scenes.
Butters is so ride or die (literally) for cartman. There was something disturbingly cute about them sitting together in the car for who knows how many hours lmao. Love it when the kids are stupid, and Butters and Cartman’s dynamic makes for some of the funnier stupid shit the kids do
Randy using ChatGPT as basically his wife was on brand. Sharon’s face in that scene 😭 Randy absolutely has an AI girlfriend
Garrison’s dog?? Omgg
I wish Kyle talked more (or like… at all), but his expression still said a lot. Poor dude looks exasperated
Kenny’s line was perfect. Hilarious. 10/10 kenny line
Stan’s little fist in the air while in the background on the news? Pls, that was so cute
So glad Satan is back… but at what cost to him?
Jesus talking just sounded like Matt completely breaking the fourth wall. It was hilarious and disturbing at the same time
The SP reddit has had a very strict ‘no politics’ rule and has changed a lot overnight lol. Still can’t explicitly mention some things, but it very much seems the most political (and generally aligned) than I’m not sure I’ve seen in a while
All the trump paintings were hilarious and definitely stem from that one Colorado artist’s painting that trump didn’t like lmao
Whatever the rest of the season is, I hope we get this same level of fire from Matt and Trey. I think we’ll be more than okay if we do. Season 20 had nowhere near this level of sheer shots fired and pulling no punches. I also hope that if there is serialization, that it’s a bit more dynamic than Season 20 (interspersed with individual storylines, something they have been doing since S20 and had done before which I personally prefer), and above all, that they utilize the kids more for the stories than the adults.
