there’s this myth that writers just know what they’re doing. like we sit down and go, 'ah, yes, a flawless metaphor and impeccable pacing, right on schedule.' no. we are all just feral goblins who write 3 chapters of pure gold followed by a random 800-word tangent about the history of forks because it 'might be important for worldbuilding.' none of us have a clue. we’re just hoping nobody notices.
