The implications of otonashi not hating soccer (and still being a fan of it from how much she knows about other teams participating in the FF before joining raimon SC) after believing that her brother abandoned herâ even outwardly telling him that he was despicable in their first meeting after yearsâ is that she sees kidou and soccer independently from each other.
But at the same time, the anime brings in a complexity to her by making sure to show that despite it all she really was hoping that she gets to talk to him at some point still and that he truly hasn't changed and forgotten about her. That deep embarrassing attachment, as kidou stated, really seemed to run in the family (a lot of times in a toxic attachment degree like how easily kidou forgave kageyama and chose to remember the good parts of him when he "died"). And that I think is a very important point to her character as much as it is kidou's.
I didn't see that much acknowledgement of this which is a bummer but I think people don't see at all that haruna also has the same level of "fighting" to see her brother again much like he wanted to see her. Or at least her fight was about not attaching soccer with this brother of hers despite this being HIS WORLD (as systematically constructed by kageyama) and pretending or insisting that she doesn't care about him. A kind of pretend that immediately shatters if you think about how she joined a soccer team that his team directly targeted (that she knows for sure teikoku will go after again or at least face in the regionals) and the only one they lost to.
Like, think about it. What was haruna thinking from the first raimon v teikoku? From the way her brother played soccer against a newly formed team? And at that point where teikoku wasn't even trying to score but only used the ball to hurt the members under his command. I think it cemented to her how much he changed and how right she was at who he became (and that her hope to see the brother that she knows was no longer possible).
She said she joined the team because of raimon's determination and she didn't lie. But i also think, in her heart, she wanted to help raimon take this version of her brother down. A version that she couldn't take seeing with very little hopes that maybe it can bring her brother back.

just rewatched Kaitou KID vs the strongest safe and just. listen.
i think it would be a REALLY fun concept. to explore the idea of Jirokichi Suzuki finding out about Kaito's identity/whole angsty backstory, and attempting to, like. adopt him into the family???? do none of you realize how funny this would be.
actually it's even funnier if he DOESN'T know Kaito's identity but DOES know his general age (can't be older than a teenager) and his whole reason for stealing- and just. makes a public announcement about bringing Kaitou KID into the family and Kaito's just sitting there like "????????????????????" cause this was NOT discussed with him before hand and in fact he doesn't even KNOW that Jirokichi KNOWS
Lupin the Dog is fucking thrilled by this. that's the most important thing here. the moment Kaito decides to drop by Jirokichi's place and fancily says some words that basically translate to like "hey uh what??? is this a trap?? cause it's very confusing-" he gets barrelled over by a way too happy to see him dog and Jirokichi is just like "see that proves it you were meant to be part of the family from the beginning" and Kaito gets no choice in this matter
and SONOKO'S REACTION???? please it'd be so funny. fanfic writers that have the time and can actually write the dcmk characters well i am begging you to take this concept from me and run with it. PLEASE.

In my little brain all the managers and all the other girls have a personality that extends beyond liking some guys. In my little world they're more complex than this. "They're OCs at this point!" if you know me, you know I love my OCs. They're my children. I'm officially adopting ALL the Ina11 girls and ignoring ALL the canon and I don't care at ALL. Especially Haruna. She's my beautiful sunshine. What would life be like without her...

Kazemaru: I'm totally normal about Endou.
Gouenji: I'm not sure if sobbing on the floor crying when he's not around is considered 'normal' but alright.

Ok, but the fact that Shirou didn't "learn" Wolf Legend but knew it since he was a child and it was just a repressed memory he regained access to.

Honestly, Iâm just so sick of the takes I keep seeing lately that tear down canon ships like Shinichi and Ran or Heiji and Kazuhaâas if a woman has to be a carbon copy of her partner to be worthy of love. Since when is it a crime for a girl to enjoy soft, traditionally feminine things like shopping, cafĂ© hopping, or just hanging out instead of obsessing over murder cases? God forbid a character doesnât fit into someoneâs idea of a âbadass love interest.â Relationships arenât about sameness; theyâre about love, understanding, and choosing someone who brings you peace and joy. Kazuha doesnât need to solve mysteries to be compatible with Heijiâshe knows him better than anyone, can read him in one glance, and he, in turn, will go above and beyond for her. Theyâve both put their lives on the line for each other. We see in the little moments how much they enjoy each others company and laugh together. Just because we donât get a ton of romantic screentime in a mystery-focused show doesnât mean their bond isnât deep. And this idea that Heiji is secretly in love with Shinichi just because he was excited to finally meet another detective like him? Please. He was a teenage genius who finally met someone whoâs brain worked like his and shares his interestsâof course he talked about it nonstop. I was the same when I met my best friend. That doesnât mean it was romantic. People need to stop projecting and recognize that Ran and Kazuhaâs warmth and softness arenât weaknessesâtheyâre strengths. They balance Shinichi and Heiji in a way no one else could.
And honestly, ship whoever you want to ship, but donât attack the girls and the canon ships to make yours look better.

Fuck Ran cleaning Shinichi's house because she's a "good housewife", she cleans his house in hopes of searching for clues of where he's gone and what he's doing.
She leaves things in certain spots to see if they've been disturbed since the last time she's been by, she'll check his clothes to see if the shirts and pants have been worn at all. She'll try and see if she can see any case files he's left around she's seen him create for previous cases.
She's not cleaning to help him, she's doing it to investigate him.

I love the dynamic between Kaito and Shinichi because it is literally Conan being like "Hey, do you want to take part in this highly dangerous, we-all-might-die-painfully plan I concocted?"
Kaito: "No."
Conan: "Oh, because you can't do it? It's too much for you to handle?"
Kaito, gritting his teeth: "Run the plan past me one more time."
Like, Conan can bait Kid into doing the dumbest shit, and Kaito just falls for it every time and both of them almost die almost constantly and it is the funniest relationship for them to have.
Kaitou Kid, internationally wanted criminal who steals things using literal magic tricks, acts as the voice of reason between the two of them. And Conan is over there like "Thank god I'm the normal one in this relationship" like a little liar and I just love this dynamic more than words can express.

Almost...
A word very Gouenji Shuuya coded⊠or maybe he is the one who's very "almost" coded. He took Kidokawa Seishuu to the finals of FF and he "almost" won, but he didn't. One year later he won the FF, his sister finally woke up, everything's "almost" perfect⊠then the aliens threaten his sister. He comes back, his sister is finally ok, everything seems to be good, he's playing with Raimon, he was selected to represent Japan, they are winning the Asia prelim matches, he finally got to understand his teammate (Toramaru) a bit better⊠you'd think this time he can finally be happy, but again, the happiness is just "almost" there, he can't reach it because there's a new obstacle, this time it's his father, a new future, one he doesn't want, far from the people he loves, far from his teammates, far from his sister, in a new country, doing something he doesn't like, once again sacrifacing what he truly loves, soccer. He even reaches a point where he resigns himself, losing all hope, until everything seems to be going well again⊠This time he can be happy, he can follow his dream, he can finally fight for what he wants without fear, without feeling regret for what happened to his sister, without feeling like he's betraying his father's dream, he can follow his own path, play the football he loves so much, finally he can⊠or rather, "almost" he can⊠because he actually can't. Once again, he has to make a great sacrifice, probably the biggest he has ever made, sacrificing his career, his reputation, his ethical and moral values, his dreams and desires⊠his entire life, all for football. But it's all worth it when it's all over. Real football is back, Fifth Sector falls and disappears. Children are finally free to play football. The kids who were on the Island and under arduous training regimes can finally enjoy football, he's back with his old friends. Everything is perfect⊠except it isn't, it's only "almost" perfect. Once again there's a new threat, once again football is in danger, and of course, once again he's the one who finds himself totally involved in this totally new adventure, he's the one in charge of the time bracelet, and not only does he have to save football, he also has to save his best friend. In the end, everything ends well. Once again football is back, Endou is back, the timeline is back, and when everything is back, the moon disappears... because of course nothing in his life can be perfect, only "almost" perfect. New threats, this time threats that loom over all of humanity, lies he has to tell to protect the public, kids he has to use to save the world when they only wanted to play soccer, his favorite sport turned into a weapon that decides who lives and who disappears, a coach he has to trust when in the past that same coach was the one responsible for his sister's accident⊠Of course, we have a happy ending, everything goes according to plan, they save humanity⊠everything is perfect⊠or will Victory Road turn it into an "almost" again?
I'd like to say I want him to have a happy life in VR, and I really do, but there's a part of me that LOVES seeing characters suffer, sorry not sorry.

I'm back y'all. Besides I've re-watched the episode in which Kyousuke gets his miximax because it is INSANE.
The fact that Okita literally reasons the exact same way Kyousuke in the first season did??? When he was in Fifth Sector??? The reason why I find every conversation Kyousuke has with Okita so angst-y is that it sounds like Tsurugi is having a conversation with his past self.
DON'T YOU EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE FACT THAT OKITA REMINDS KYOU OF HIS BIG BROTHER.
A scene I think not many people comment enough about is when Okita is forced to rest next to Midori, Aoi and Akane, and he observes how much Kyousuke is determined. He's hit by the soccer ball again and again, falling to the ground hundreds of times, yet he persists, and gets up more and more times.
Okita's comment on that is:
"Look how determined that boy is."
Mind you, he doesn't say "look, he's determined, **just like me**!"
He says that phrase in a way that lets it intend Okita doesn't recognize himself in that behavior even though he does the same exact thing.
Which makes me think that if anyone ever complimented Okita the way he complimented Kyousuke- "You're so determined!" He'd reply something similar to "I'm just doing my job."
... Which is the same thing I feel Kyousuke in the first season would've replied if someone complimented him of being an imperial in Fifth Sector- yeah I'll go cry guys bye đđ

I think a lot about Tsurugi and Hakuryuu pre-CS (but also pre-end of Gryphon), and how there was no way for Hakuryuu to get what he wantd when they were both training on God Eden â Tsurugi's companionship â because he fundamentally did not understand Tsurugi. To someone as obsessed with power and becoming the ultimate being, there was simply no way to comprehend somebody could not have cared about it, especially with that somebody being as strong as Tsurugi, the first one Hakuryuu's ever perceived as an equal. Their goals must've been the same, otherwise how could have Tsurugi matched him? He couldn't have, of course! Only somebody with the same drive as Hakuryuu stood a chance!
(To give him some credit, though, Tsurugi definitely didn't make it easy to see what he was actually about, being the lone wolf and all.)
Even when they meet again, Hakuryuu doesn't get it. He's disappointed in Tsurugi's skill or the lackof, and that's all he talks about (at least openly, because he also implies something else Tsurugi actually catches onto). He cannot compare to him, the ultimate being, especially now that he's "playing nice" with his "friends". It's an insult, but it doesnât have the effect Hakuryuu would've expected â rather than angry, Tsurugi looks contemplative. And of course it couldn't have worked, because to Tsurugi being able to play nice with others is simply worth more than becoming the strongest. Always has been.
Tsurugi was never in Fifth Sector for power. Everything he'd done was done for the sake of his brother. Strength was just the side-effect of the hellish training he endured for Yuuichi's sake. Hakuryuu had neither the information necessary to know that, nor any actual internal means of understanding that. There was just no way for them to meet halfway, because they were walking completely different roads.
That being said, the even more interesting part is that while Hakuryuu didn't understand Tsurugi, the opposite wasn't true. Frankly, Tsurugi probably understood Hakuryuu better than Hakuryuu understood himself. He spent the entire movie piecing together the hints of the true reason Hakuryuu was actually mad at him, and by the end he is the one who can truly calm him down by offering Hakuryuu what he truly wanted all along â reciprocation. The conversation out of context looks almost hilarious, Hakuryuu crashing out, because he can't believe they could be anywhere near on equal level with Raimon, refusing to accept the "power of friendship and having fun" answer, but the anger immediately leaving him as soon as Tsurugi acknowledges their bond. Because for all his rants about power and perfection, what he wanted the most was to be accepted by the person he wanted to be friends with.
