The Adventure Zone: Commitment player characters

Three ordinary humans join up at a humanitarian agency, The Do Good Fellowship, as regular employees. The agency discovers a way to give ordinary people superpowers. 12 candidates are given powers with three of them as the players. Clint McElroy is the DM and runs the show.

Chris “Remy” Rembrandt: Superhero Alias: Springheel: Former Olympic gymnast, failed Ninja Warrior contestant, co-owner of a failing Ninja Warrior training gym with his brother. Personal trainer, wants everyone to be their best selves. Focused on agility, close-combat and acrobatics. Immune to falling damage, doesn’t need to do athletic checks for crazy jumps. Joined the Do-Good Fellowship as an IT guy. Based on a spiderman fan comic. Player: Griffin McElroy

Nadiya Jones: Superhero Alias: Nadiya Jones. Thinks secret identities are stupid. Crazy-smart biomedical expert. Spock-esque focus on logic. Cerebral and analytic. The opposite of “Magnus Rushes In.” Rich as heck. “SCIENCE!” Bio-medical polymer of her own invention has given her shapeshifting abilities. Inanimate things-based. Can’t turn into animals, can turn her arms into hammers or shields or stuff like that. Shapeshifting requires physical exertion and will cause her to faint if she overuses it. Prefers to analyze the situation and only uses shapeshifting if her analysis and science abilities fail. Getting a strong Symmetra vibe from her, super perfectionist, somewhat insulted that a failing personal trainer is now her equal as a superhero. Works for The Do Good Fellowship in Research and Development. Player: Travis McElroy

Irene Baker: Superhero Alias: Kardala: Human resources MBA. Likes dadrock. Wants everyone to get along. Reserved, mousy, but very likable. Sounds like she wears mom jeans. Transforms into Kardala, a significantly physically larger Inuit thunder goddess. Kardala is a juggernaut. Kardala can control the weather and has super-toughness, making her very hard to stop and very physically strong. Think an Inuit Goddess Thor crossed with Hulk’s transformations and opposing personalities. Kardala’s personality is the opposite of Irene. Sees herself in a goddess in a world of mortals, does not consider non-superpowered humans as her equals, sees them as lesser beings who need to be shepherded or guided. Irene’s personality can regain control from Kardala and has different abilities. Kardala is a combat juggernaut, Irene is physically weak but is excellent emotionally and inter-personally. Neither is totally in control of switching between forms. Irene can use her strength of will to regain control, but Kardala sees Irene as a lesser human and will not want to give up control willingly. As an HR person for the Do Good Fellowship, she gets a lot of complaints about Nadiya’s attitude and wants to help Nadiya be better at interacting with other people. Kardala is unnerved by Nadiya’s powers and believes Nadiya to be a demon. Player: Justin McElroy
