when you just finished one of the most beautiful fics ever written and you see that the author has a masterlist full of other fics

Dear writer,
You're still a writer even if you misspell, You're still a writer even if it's not your better language, You're still a writer even if you hate your writing, You're still a writer even if you only write a few words, You're still a writer even if you get writers block often, You're still a writer even if you need help organizing your work, You're still a writer even if you write smut, You're still a writer even if you only write once in a blue moon,
You're still a writer, for as long as you write.

I love, love, LOVE it when I can tell a fic author has integrated their specialized knowledge in a fic. I was reading a fic that at some point included the character going to visit an art therapist, and it's so clear that the author is an art therapist themself, and the details included are just immaculate and I love it. I've previously read about a character doing fencing for no other reason than the author clearly wanting to write a sport they understood. A character being given a hyperfixation on bugs just so the author can infodump themselves.
I eat it up every time, it brings such a smile to my face

Huge thanks to my friend who attended the Alice Oseman Pop Up Shop this weekend for their photo of Alice’s reasons for each recommendation
THE CATCHER IN THE RYE BY JD SALINGER
This was one of the books that made me want to write SOLITAIRE. Essential reading for any fans of snarky narrators.
SUMMER BIRD BLUE BY AKEMI DAWN BOWMAN
It's hard to find aromantic/asexual representation infiction, but this is one of my favourites.
CONVENIENCE STORE WOMAN BY SAYAKA MURATA, TRANSLATED BY GINNY TAPLEY TAKEMORI
One of my favourite novels of the past few years, perfect for SOLITAIRE and LOVELESS fans. A story about one woman's alienation with modern society.
THE BLACK FLAMINGO BY DEAN ATTA
A beautiful and hopeful story about a teenage drag queen, written in verse.
HERE THE WHOLE TIME BY VITOR MARTINS
An adorable queer teen romance. HEARTSTOPPER fans will love this.
HOMEBODY BY THEO PARISH
This trans coming out story is so uplifting and affirming.
LAURA DEAN KEEPS BREAKING UP WITH ME BY MARIKO TAMAKI
I loved the complexity of the toxic relationship at the heart of this stunningly illustrated graphic novel.
IT'S LONELY AT THE CENTRE OF THE EARTH BY ZOE THOROGOOD
This graphic novel features a hard-hitting and honest portrayal of depression. A great choice for those who are drawn to the mental health themes in my works.

Me, on the welcome desk in the library: Good morning, how are you today?
Customer: I have welcomed Jesus into my heart and so I am well today and every day.
Me, a little unnerved: Okay then! Is there something I can help you with?
Customer, digging around in his bag and pulling out an iPhone in a box: Unfortunately, Jesus can't help me with this fucking phone, so I came to the library.

what people think alice oseman books are like: blushing awkward first meetings, little chaste first kisses, giggling teenage boys holding hands what alice oseman books are actually like: hey what if your entire personality is actually a carefully constructed facade to make other people like you and to disguise the fact that you don't actually know who you are. if you stripped away all the walls, all the artificial things that you think make you up, what would be left? what would happen if you stopped living for other people and started living for yourself? is there even a person in there or just a gaping void with nothing left in it? wouldn't that be fucked up? do you even know yourself? do you even have a real personality anymore?

There are so many ways to make moodboards, bookcovers, and icons without plagiarizing! As artists, authors, and other creatives, we need to be especially careful not to use someone else’s work and pass it off as our own.
Please add on if you know any more resources for free images <3
