> felix grew up on a small farm not far from abernathy with their father, their mother and sister still back in mexico. it was a quiet, simple life, with felix helping out with chores whenever they could and stumbling their way through school in town

> their mother and sister finally found a way up to georgia when felix was fifteen, and they soon grew thick as thieves with their sister, a pair too clever for their own good and prone to all kinds of mischief. 

> felix was an average student all through school, but that was mainly because they would find their attention and interest drawn into their hyperfixations at the moment, from car mechanics to the vietnam war to architecture. 

> the only one of these niches proved to be a true passion for felix: cooking. that was how they ended up working in any kitchen they could when they were in high school, even taking the time to drive to bigger towns nearby to work at different restaurants. 

> their parents had always wanted them to leave their small town in georgia, but farming wasn’t the most lucrative job, and sending felix away would be expensive. besides, felix didn’t have any interest in leaving their bubble of comfort. 

> then, their mother got sick, and in order to pay the medical bills, felix had to find something that would pay more than being the line cook at various restaurants. desperate, felix turned to their old friend, carly morris, in the iron kings. 

> the mc ended up being a lifesaver for felix, taking care of them and their family and giving them the structure they were most comfortable in. even now, long after their mother recovered, felix has found a niche and a home among the iron kings.
