being anti ai is making me feel like in going insane. "you asked for thoughts about your characters backstory and i put it into chat gpt for ideas". studies have proven its making people dumber. "i asked ai to generate this meal plan". its causing water shortages where its data centers are built. "ill generate some pictures for the dnd campaign". its spreading misinformation. "meta, generate an image of this guy doing something stupid". its trained off stolen images, writing, video, audio. "i was talking with my snapchat ai-" theres no way to verify what its doing with the information it collects. "youtube is impletmenting ai based age verification". my work has an entire graphics media department and has still put ai generated motivational posters up everywhere. ai playlists. ai facial verification. google ai microsoft ai meta ai snapchat ai. everyone treats it as a novelty. every treats it as a mandatory part of life. am i the only one who sees it? am i paranoid? am i going insane? jesus fucking christ. if i have to hear one more "well at least-" "but it does-" "but you can-" im about to lose it. i shouldnt have to jump through hoops to avoid the evil machine. have you no principles? no goddamn spine? am i the weird one here?

The more accustomed you become to seeing women referred to as acronyms, the easier it becomes to forget that they are people, too. - Laura Bates, Men Who Hate Women
The powerful normally determine what is said and sayable. When the powerful label something or dub it or baptize it, the thing becomes what they call it. And generally, when renegade women call something one thing and patriarchal loyalists call it another, the loyalists get their way. - Marylin Frye, The Politics of Reality
He gives the name, the name endures; she gives the name, the name is lost. This power of naming enables men to define experience, to articulate boundaries and values, to designate to each thing its realm and qualities, to determine what can and cannot be expressed, to control perception itself. It is the naming by decree that is power over and against those who are forbidden to name their own experience; it is the decree backed up by violence that writes the name indelibly in blood in male-dominated culture. Men have defined the parameters of every subject. All feminist arguments, however radical in intent or consequence, are with or against assertions or premises implicit in the male system, which is made credible or authentic by the power of men to name. - Andrea Dworkin, Pornography

i’m so done with the way girls in twenties are treated. i’m so done with people who literally create timetable for us. 20- 24 find a guy, 24-26 make him propose to you, 27-29 get married. i’m so done. i’m do not want to get 2 a.m texts from my best friend who is freaking out that she is gonna die alone. i do not want see my 20 years old friend wasting her time on some guys who are not even interested in her. i do not want see us falling for every nice guy who does not look creepy. i do not want to see girls get sad or paranoid just bcos they do not fill in the schedule. you are ok. you should enjoy your life at its fullest and one day you will find 10/10 so do not pursue 6 just because you do not want to be single. it is ok and one day you will find someone. do not split your love with people who does not deserve it. keep it for yourself and when time will come you will know. i know it hurts. i know you wish u could just open part of yourself and release the buzzing love. but not every kind of love is romantic. show it to your family, friends, plants, yourself.

It’s kind of harder for me to participate in abortion discourse since having an abortion myself. bc now with this hindsight i feel like a lot the discourse gets it it a bit wrong and it’s hard for me to explain how and why exactly it’s just the wrong perception of what abortion is. It is not remotely easy physically or mentally and this should be much more prominent in discussion, but instead i feel like it’s all very flippant and most people have the perception that abortions are pretty simple and easy to recover from especially if you’re 100% sure and not maternal or emotional about it- which is the perception i also had. It’s only since having an abortion that i know this perception to be misguided and believe the physical and mental toll, pain, and discomfort should be at the forefront of discussions.

One thing that worries me about the use of AI is whether or not it can worsen people's dementia and alzheimer's in the future. When my grandmother was first diagnosed, we got her math activity books. Now, my grandmother never had a formal education, but we did our best to keep her sharp, get her to do math and writing activity books, sudokus, playing board games that required some level of strategizing with her. Her family is prone to alzheimer's and dementia (both her siblings had it and deteriorated very very very quickly, which yeah, scares the shit out of me being her granddaughter) but she was the one whose mind lasted the longest, she only passed away two years ago, at 88, ten whole years after her initial diagnosis and sure, she had forgotten things, recipes and where she put her glasses and appointments, but she never forgot any of us, ten whole years in, she still remembered us. Now, this may have been luck, but doctors always said the constant mental work + companionship + medicine helped her a lot. So I'm thinking, these people who are now relying on AI for everything, from email-writing to thinking what's for dinner to casual conversations, I've even seen people rely on it to calculate what time they should leave their house if they need to be at a place at a specific time and their commute lasts X number of minutes. As if that's not... the simplest math operation possible? You shouldn't even need a calculator for that!!! Idk I don't know how long it'll take us to see the effects of this + exposure to brain-rotting short form content that is completely meaningless + people addicted to right-wing conspiracy style media. Idk I'm very worried. Please, read, read complicated books! Take up a book on philosophy and try to decipher it and make your own opinions on it, please buy a maths activity book and relearn how to do math, please get a hobby that involves lots of thinking and concentrating. PLEASE!!!

It's frustrating to me that we as disabled people are expected to have never-ending patience with non-disabled people and educate them simply because "they don't know", and that's somehow considered to be an excuse to mistreat disabled people and say/do ableist things unless WE go out of our way to educate them.
And yet, non-disabled people aren't expected to educate themself on disability, teach their kids about disability, or actually think critically about how to not mistreat disabled people.

To put it bluntly, the only way to end homelessness is to house people or kill them.
That's it. Those are your options. Homelessness doesn't go away based on "crime crackdowns." You will imprison the unhoused, and when they are free, they will be unhoused again. Or they will die in prison.
When you burn encampments or force people out without their stuff, they remain unhoused or freeze to death.
After working with the unhoused, it's become abundantly clear that those who don't want to support them instead want them dead.
There is blood on the hands of every government and organization that controls the homeless population with force instead of compassion.

No, the disabled man who wants prostitution to be legal so he can have "sex" is not on the side of actually struggling disabled folks who barely pay their bills. He has choosen the sides of the oppressor and is a class traitor.

it hit me today that we've missed out on a whole lot of mediocre women. that sounds backhanded but it's not. for so so many years women weren't allowed to be musicians, writers, artists etc at all. and then later on only the best of the best of the best were tolerated. which means we have missed out on so many mediocre female artists. it feels like there's a billion male singers and musicians all throughout history that are just mediocre--and people still love them, which is valid, mediocre can still mean very very good and unique and cool; but where are our mediocre women? the women who might not have broken crazy music records but put out solid, cool music? the female artists who didn't revolutionize anything but made really pretty and thought provoking art? the female writers who didn't invent new genres or write instant classics but wrote amazing, enjoyable books that--if they didn't change the world--changed a few people's lives?
there are untalented male singers who have fans. there are untalented male actors who get roles. there are untalented male artists who have exhibits. but even to this day!! who's the most popular male singer right now? idk The Weeknd? Benson Boone? sure, they're talented, but compare the top 10 male artists with the women, i think you'll find the women outrank them in almost every way. Taylor Swift (no matter your opinions on her) has had the most successful music career of a generation, has spanned multiple genres, puts on showstopping incredible tours....compared to Ed Sheeran. watch a clip of a Justin Timberlake concert or an Alex Warren concert and then watch a clip of The Eras Tour or Lady Gaga's tour. watch any male artist perform on SNL and then watch Gaga or Chappell (ik she isn't perfect but the girl can perform) on SNL. you gyns ever see that picture of Ed Sheeran and Beyoncé performing right next to each other? it's literally that!
point being, women have to be THE BEST to make it--even today!!!-- but men can just make music.
there are so many women who's art i love (for the sake of this post, i consider art art, music, and writing all forms of "art") who aren't world famous, didn't make it big, aren't the artists of a generation. but i love their music. i love their paintings. i love their books and their poetry. it means so much to me, even if the whole world never catches on. yes, there are women who managed to make it even in a patriarchal, misogynistic industry. but just as much as i love the greats, i also love the D listers, hell even the K listers.
anyway. i just think the world has missed out on a lot of mediocre women. amazing, mediocre women.

If you refuse to analyse women’s actions for their value and ramifications, under a guise of its ‘empowerment’, you do not treat women like mature adults, humans.
You treat them like children.
Yes, I’m talking about choice feminism.

Absolutely ALL eyes on Afghanistan.

Islamic men are literally banning women.
Women are denied proper education. They are forced to cover their entire body. They have no freedom of speech. They aren't even allowed to talk to each other. Their voices are now against the law. They can not sing, they can not shout.
After Taliban's takeover in 2021, Afghan women have been trapped in hell. "I was someone who was always out and about, who was very active in society. Now I'm stuck in the four walls of a house."
Cutting women out of workforce also led the country into deeper poverty, according to Global News. Girls and women are being sold like cattle so families can put food on the table. The insanely brave women participating in protests, fighting for their rights, face extreme punishment.
This has been going on for years and needs to be talked more about. Please make donations and/or spread the word. Do not shut up about it, do not get distracted.
