Hey there! I'm new to clown husbandry and really would like a mini breed, but I can't seem to find any with natural pastel colours. Do you know of any breeds like this?
Candy clowns are a good option! There are others as well, but im mostly focused on candy clowns right now since I will posting about them somewhere in the near future.
But anyway, there are many shapes, sizes, and colors of candy clowns, and it is quite common for them to be naturally small and pastel colored!

I actually have some tips and info and my representation of them on chou clowns here! Hope it helps <3
Hey I am new to the clown husbandry community and I am wondering if someone has good care guides for Asian breeds like Xiqu Chous or Kabuki. I am currently doing research and I was definitely drawn in by their appearance but unfortunately I can’t find any information on them in English.

Forgot to reblog with my clown account lmao
I think my clowns can see ghosts?
So, my clowns have been acting weird recently. They keep staring at an empty corner in my room and bouncing up and down??
They won’t let me go near that corner either, they just start grabbing at me and honking hysterically? It’s a bit inconvenient because I need to pass that corner to leave my room. This is day 4 and I still have to resort to climbing out the window.
Can clowns see ghosts? Do I need to call an exorcist? Or is there something else that might be distressing my clowns?

Fortune teller clowns

Tips and such on fortune tellers below 👇!
Fortune tellers are some of the stranger kinds of clowns.
They tend to know of something that will happen soon, no matter how absurd that thing is. And actually, quite often, the more absurd it is the more likely it is to happen. Their eyes also tend to be very different colors compared to their color palettes, and some wonder if that has something to do with the abilities they seem to have.
Humans as fortune tellers have been a thing for a long time, and in things like circus's and carnivals it was humans who were the fortune tellers, but when the clowns that are now known as the Fortune tellers were discovered, and their almost psychic seeming abilities, they became the fortune tellers instead of humans.
Unfortunately that led to them being bred in a way that isnt really fixable at this point.
Humans bred them into looking more similar to humans, even to a point where their frills are much shorter, and theyd cover their frills with headscarfs in an imitation of the roma, as fortune tellers were and are often depicted as being roma people.
Though, you should not do that to them. Pool dunk clowns may be the only ones who have frills that work like a fishes gills, but the frills of most clowns actually have a small part in helping them breathe, and covering a furtune tellers frills can make them struggle to breathe, especially since they already struggle enough after their frills were made to be so small through breeding.
Fortune tellers may be strange compared to other clowns, but just like other clowns, they dont enjoy being basic and bland!
After being bred into what they are now, most collect accessories and elaborately patterned fabrics and clothes to make themself less bland, and quite often they like to wear at least one frilly item, wanting to be a bit frillier than they naturally are now as well.
Over the years, most of the species has also become a little crow minded and often they collect as many shiny things as possible, most often being gold accessories, though they enjoy trinkets as well, and its recommended to get as many as you can spare to get for them.
If you were planning on getting one, or if you are now, hope these tips and such helped!

From what I know of clowns, this could be two things.
One: if any of your clowns are scare clowns or scare hybrids, it could be that that they are doing their natural thing: spooky tricks, and if its only a small amount of your clowns that have scare genes, it could be that your other clowns are copying them. Though, it is unusual if its been going on for this long.
Two: if any of your clowns are a fortune teller (which I will be posting about soon) it could actually be a ghost or something of the sorts. Its not entirely certain if they are actually able to see ghosts, but they tend to be connected to a lot of supernatural events and are often the ones to get others out of dangerous situations, especially if its unexpected.
I think my clowns can see ghosts?

Its kind of like with pigeons. Humans domesticated them, and now they dont know how to live in the wild. And unfortunately, unlike clowns, they have been released into the wild, and they dont have the knowledge and instincts they would've had before humans domesticated them. Most dont even know how to build proper nests. I hope for the human race to never do to the clowns what they've done to pigeons, especially since pigeons are called stupid, flying rats, and so on when they just dont know what to do after being brought into domestication then forced back out of it.
!! IMPORTANT !!
do NOT interact if you support / participate in clown husbandry
clown husbandry is EXTREMELY UNETHICAL and HARMFUL to the species. clowns are meant to be WILD and FREE and NOT DOMESTICATED or BRED. clown husbandry causes more harm than it does good. please reconsider your choices!!
consider joining the cause to STOP clown breeders and SAVE the clowns!!!!!!!

Ring leader clowns

Tips and such on ring leaders below 👇!
Ring leaders are a famous kind of clown, well at least among other clowns. I dont really pay attention to how popular ring leaders are among humans.
Anyway, as I said, ring leaders are a popular clown among most kinds of clowns.
You may know of ring leaders as the one who keeps every clown in line in performances in a carnival, but they do that out of the carnival as well!
These clowns can be quite cunning and determined, even perhaps becoming a bit manipulative if raised in a certain (wrong) way, and they just about always can grab the attention of other clowns and become the leader.
We dont quite know how they do it, but they can do it very easily.
if you have a troupe of clowns, it usually recommended to get a Ring leader, especially if your troupe can be all over the place and perhaps accidentally break a few things here and there often.
Another tip related to that! If your troupe is more focused on one specific kind of clown, or if most of your clowns are at the very least a hybrid of one specific type of clown, it is recommended to get a ring leader thats a hybrid of that type of clown so that they can be more in tune with the troupe!
Some can actually be slight drama queens, and most dont expect for their ring leader to sass them.
It is recommended to get them a hat, usually a top hat, and maybe some lace accessories, for your ring leader. Reasons for wanting them will often vary between ring leaders (at least, ring leaders who want them), but a famous one for wanting a hat is 'I dont want to be completely bald.'
It is not a good idea to have more then two or even just one ring leader, as it will often end in fights and arguements, the ring leaders butting heads over who should be the leader. It should be fine if you only have two ring leaders and no other clowns, but having and increase in clowns and/or ring leaders will almost definitely lead in the ring leaders fighting over who should be leader, as usually they dont see much problem in it unless theres more than just one clown to lead.
Most see it as obnoxious, but often they will also try to out-honk each other if they try to fight over leadership, and if it gets to that point it is often even harder to stop the fight.
Though, you can usually get them to resolve the fight after distracting them with their favorite foods, though they may be a bit grumbly about it.
If you were planning on getting one, or if you are now, hope these tips and such helped! And once again, recommended that you only get one!!

Chou clowns
I arrive with an underrated clown, the chou clowns from peking or beijing opera in china! If this causes any offense to the chinese culture please tell me

Tips and such on chou clowns below 👇!
Chou clowns are a type of clown that originate from china and are often found in peking/beijing opera! The example of chou seen above is a retired peking/beijing opera chou themself, now living peacefully with their owner, mostly because of a condition that made it so that they cant perform anynore.
Most chous are energetic creatures with flexible agile bodies, though they can be graceful if they want to be.
Often, people unfamilair with chous will look at them, several of them having bodies that are thin and visibly flexible like msot clowns, several looking at least a bit cute, but they are often surprised when they hear the voice of the chou as often to them their voice doesnt 'match their appearance.'
It is recommended to feed them traditional chinese foods, especially deserts, as they tend to not like eating much else. Occasionally, some will be fine with other kinds of asian food though.
Most tend to enjoy most traditional chinese dances, and its recommended to occasionally help them learn new dances, as well as occasionally turn on some traditional chinese music, as their favorite form of entertainment for others is dancing.
Despite how they are usually energetic, they can be quite calm and modest and can be a good companion for the elderly, as they will be as careful and helpful as possible, as well as try to get them to laugh with small simple jokes, tricks, and such.
If you were planning on getting one, or if you are now, hope these tips and such helped!

Stilt walkers
There are many kinds of stilt walkers, but i will be showing and talking about two kinds in this, european and and primal

Tips and such on the european and primal stilt walkers below 👇!
European and primal stilt walkers may look very different but they are the same type of clown.
When you think of stilt walkers, you usually think of the european stilt walker, but they arent the original. They are actually a mix with jesters that have become their own species of stilt walker. When julius ceaser came back to rome with a giraffe, some stilt walkers tagged along, leading to them eventually becoming european stilt walkers.
The european stilt walkers tend to be very graceful and covered in many delightful colors, but they can also be a bit clumsy and unaware of their surroundings, often becoming busy getting distracted by things that are interesting to them like bugs and flowers.
They will sometimes try to bend down to get to something, but you should try to keep them from doing so, as they will usually lose balance.
Though, fortunately they usually use their tail! All kinds of tilt walkers have prehensile tails, which help them pick things up so they dont have to bend down. Though, ones that are mixed with scare clowns often dont need to be worried about as much, as they often have long arms.
Some worry about the 'hooves' of their stilt walker becoming too long, but you usually dont have to worry, as they have sturdy teeth that they use to trim their hooves, and walking on hard surfaces helps with that as well.
Stilt walkers tend to not need as much sugar as other kinds of clowns, though they absolutely love eating fruit and its recommended to give them fruit more often than candy.
A fun sight you'll see occasionally if you have a stilt walker will be them sitting down, as it can be quite silly to see their hooves poking up into the air or spread across the floor. With some they will do that as often as they can if they see you giggling at how silly they look like that.
Stilt walkers often tend to be like big sweet oversized dogs, and they tend to try and get on your lap, despite the fact that they usually very much do not fit.
Stilt walkers can be very high maintenance, and you should have a home with a very high ceiling so that they can stand, as if they tried to stand in a home with a normal ceiling they would lose their balance and/or bump their head on the ceiling. Unless you get one who trims their hooves shorter than most do, those should usually be fine.
Now, i think I should give some information on Primal stilt walkers specifically.
Stilt walkers originate from africa, and primal stilt walkers are the original stilt walkers!
It is not recommended to try getting one, as places that arent untamed and have civilization can very badly overwhelm them, and they tend to lash out violently.
Some people, such as racists and such, will see them as feral beasts, but really they are just like any other clown.
They tend to be found living among african tribes and have a bit of a role being like a hunting dog for the tribal people, helping them hunt and find food, and in turn the tribal people respect them, most practically seeing them as equals, especially since the primal stilt walkers tend to quickly pick up their language and speak it to converse with them.
though, just like any other clown they adore entertaining humans, and they will often eagerly join tribal dances.
And with some ceremonies and such they will sometimes dye their 'frills(?),' though with some they dye their 'frills(?)' all of the time.
And once again, I'd like to say, that you should not get a primal stilt walker! Not even zoos are aloud to get them, as their mental state starts worsening when contained, especially in an unfamiliar place, and any attempt to domesticate them will not work.
Anyway if you were planning on getting a stilt walker, or if you are now, hope these tips and such helped!

Party and Sad clowns

ignore the fact that i forgot the nose on the sad clowns anatomy
Tips and such on the party and sad clowns below 👇!
Party clowns and sad clowns are two of the most common and similar types of clowns, and they can sometimes be mistaken for one another, but usually you can tell the difference as party clowns usually have brighter colors and poofs on their legs, meanwhile sad clowns usually have poofs on their arms and dimmer colors.
Party clowns are often the clowns you think of when you think of parties, and they tend to be the ones at parties as they are usually the ones most capable of dealing with parties, able to keep everyone entertained without losing too much energy.
You should not get one just for a party, then get rid of them, as they are living thinking beings just like you, they should be treated with respect, and their purpose is not only entertaining people at parties.
If you dont want to keep a party clown but still want a party clown, you can hire someone to bring their party clown instead of buying one yourself.
If you do that, you should pay both the owner and the clown itself, for the owner money of course, and for the clown many treats and perhaps some praise as well.
There are many types of party clowns, though the most well known is the common party clown. Though, there are also some types that do well for specific kinds of parties, like the common party and scare clown mix, the halloween party clown, which as you could probably tell usually does well at halloween parties!
Party clowns are usually the best clown to go for when you are a beginner, as they are usually the easiest to take care of out of most kinds of clowns.
Party clowns and sad clowns may look very similar, but they are very different.
You may feel some sympathy, seeing a sad clown sitting, sighing in a sad tone and frowning softly, but dont worry, it is perfectly healthy for them to be like that.
You only really see them smile whenever they are truly very excited about something or when they feel very cared for and loved, though it is a small one, but you can always tell.
Though you should make sure that they are a healthy amount of 'sad,' you should still interact with them, preferably in a gentle caring way.
Usually, just sitting together in silence is enough, but whistling a tune together or reading a book or two together would also be good.
They also tend to like helping, so its a good idea to bring them with you when you go out shopping, as they tend to like helping with simple things like that.
They also tend to dislike feeling like they arent doing anything around the house, and feeling like they are being lazy, so its a good idea to let them do some chores.
They also tend to like doing tricks where they purposefully fail, so you should try to keep them from things such as tight ropes, acrobatic equipment, trampolines, and the such as their natural instinct is to fail and trying to fail a trick on any of those could result in injury.
Though they are Sad clowns, there is such a thing as being too sad for them.
Signs of being too sad are the signs of depression, attempting to starve themself, hurting themself, and developing an interest in smoking and drinking, which are just as unhealthy for sad clowns as it is for anyone else.
If this ever happens, you should try taking them outside a bit more, giving them more of their favorite items and foods, perhaps some hugs or cuddles, and you can also give them bubble blowers as a substitute for cigarettes. In case you dont know what im talking about:

These often give good results, as sad clowns tend to find much enjoyment in blowing bubbles from these, and if you have others clowns they tend to like blowing bubbles at them and watching the other clown/s chase and pop the bubbles.
If you were planning on getting one of them, or if you are now, hope these tips and such helped!

Fruit clowns
For this type of clown, two examples!

Tips and such on fruit clowns below 👇!
Fruit clowns are so far the strangest clown. For years now humans have tried to figure out how fruit clowns work, though not much has been figured out other than the fact that that they have photosynthesis like plants do to gain food, and their insides seem to be like the inside of the fruit seem to be made of.
Though, even though they already use photosynthesis to gain nutrience, you should still give them a diet of candy and sweets, like with most clowns.
It is recommended to give them a bunch of time outside so that they can be under the sun long enough in a day.
Though, if you are in an area where it gets cold in fall and winter, in the fall you should start practising the habit of keeping them inside and feeding them more sugar, and then in the winter you shouldnt let them out as they could get dangerously sick.
It is also not recommended to get a fruit clown if you live in an area that is always cold, though if you do try looking for fruit clowns in your area you wouldnt find any.
There are many varieties of fruit clowns, and commonly they seem to be made up of one kind of fruit, but some can be made up of several! And most usually have the flower of their fruit on either side of their head, their fruit hanging at either aide of their head, and sometimes even both!
They are also usually known as the clowns who do the trick where water sprays out of the flower, which is usually on their frill, though some other clowns can grow frills shaped like a flower and do that trick as well!
Though, if you find a 'water spraying flower' being sold somewhere, dont buy it as it is often the flower of a fruit clown cut off, which you shouldnt do. Cutting off the flower of a fruit clown can be very detrimental for them, as their mental health and often their physical health as well will be affected, and they cant grow that flower back.
If you were planning on getting one, or if you are now, hope these tips and such helped!

Rodeo clowns

Tips and such on the rodeo clowns below 👇!
Rodeo clowns are a type of clown that are often found at rodeo shows, the country, on farms, etc.
Rodeo clowns can be quite rowdy and were originally bred to distract bulls and keep bull riders safe, but nowadays they also will be bought by farmers as farm hands, shepards, etc, usually being given jobs that have something to do with taking care of amimals.
And of course, there are also people who will buy rodeo clowns as pets as well! Though it is recommended for you to be someone who lives in more rural areas, as cities and such tend to be more confusing and overwhelming for them.
Surprisingly, several dont really actually care about country music, but of course all of them have different opinions on them.
It is recommended to give your rodeo clown a cowboy hat, and sometimes a bandana, or just pretty much any clothing and/or accessories related to things like cowboys.
They tend to keep their frills more relaxed, and they tend to be a bit shaped like a bandana.
If you were planning on getting one, or if you are now, hope these tips and such helped!

Pierrot and Mime clowns
I have now decided that I shall draw my versions of every clown, which of course started with the pool dunk clowns, and now moves on to the pierrot and mime clowns

Tips and such on the pierrot and mimes below 👇!
Pierrot and Mime clowns are some of the quietest species of clown, as well as the the most monotone most of the time.
Not many know this, but mimes are a species bred from pierrot.
The first of mimes were created after some people started wanting pierrot without the caps. This has actually lead to many problems in mimes.
Pierrot tend to be very quiet, but they can make a few quiet sounds, but Mimes are completely mute, which is one of the problems.
They also cant see as well as other species of clowns, and tend to keep their eyes closed most of the time, as they are usually pretty useless to them.
They also tend to be very anxious without something to cover their head and it is recommended to get them a hat or more, preferably a beret, as well as have them pick one for themself, whether shopping in person or online. Their hat tends to be the most colorful thing about them if the hat does have color.
They also tend to like lace accesories, and unlike with other types of clowns it actually can be a good thing to buy your mime see-through bouncy houses, as well as other transparent items. Other clowns can have vision thats similar to a birds when it comes to things like glass and such, but mimes often like transparent items.
Pierrot actually have a slight relation to sad clowns, though nobody knows how exactly they are.
They tend to only make sounds, like little sighs or the jingling of bells, when sad or in a similar mood.
Usually, they only have color in their eyes, but occasionally some will have what looks like faint blush on their cheeks, and even more rare is color on their frills.
Most of them tend to like transparent items, but they tend to be anxious in transparent bouncy houses, like with most clowns.
Both species tend to be quite shy and introverted, and it isnt recommended to introduce them to other clowns when you first get them, as they most often dont trust that you wont lead them into a dangerous situation yet. Though, they tend to be more peaceful when with other pierrots and mimes.
If you are planning to get several different types of clowns, it is recommended for your first clowns to be pierrot and/or mimes if you are planning to get them, so that when you get them they arent immediately introduced to a strange new clown when they are still getting used to you.
Especially if they are a mime. Mimes tend to get more agressive with clowns new to their lives than pierrot do, and though they dont tend to actually be dangerous, they can get themselves hurt by picking fights with clowns that are strange to them.
If you were planning on getting one of them or both of them, or if you are now, hope these tips and such helped!

Pool dunk clowns!
so after seeing a meme that was like the words Clown caviar on an image of a bowl full of orbeez, i went what if clowns but mermaids? (Perfect since its mermay)
Instantly went looking to see if there was like any clowns that performed underwater or something, and then I remembered the pool dunk game! Personally ive never seen one but i have definitely seen images of them, including ones with clowns in them, which has now lead to a whole bunch of lore and info lmao

Putting yhe story behind pool dunk clowns and some tips on how to take care of them under here 👇!
Pool dunk clowns are derpy mermaid-like clowns who have adapted for life in water.
Unfortunately, they have a long history of abuse.
They have their names because centuries back they were a part of the pool dunk game at carnivals. Many people would fail at it, meaning they would get little water in a day, and only the gills at the end of their tails would be in the water until they got drunked, making it so that they would just barely survive each day.
They couldn't squeeze through the platform and the walls of the container, as the space was always too small.
It is now illegal to do this and it is usually a human instead.
Their eggs were also often a delicacy to humans, and many pool dunk clowns would have their eggs taken from them. Thankfully, that is now also illegal!
Unfortunately, no pool dunk clown is ready for the wild. These sweet creatures need to be able to have things to play with at all times or their mental state will not be great, and unlike dolphins they dont have the heart to mess with other creatures.
They can be quite expensive to keep as pets, as they need a pool and several pool toys! Most babies can usually be kept in a bathtub, as they are usually small enough to fit with plenty space, but as they grow they will need a pool.
It is also recommended to constantly get new toys for your pool dunk clown.
You should also be really careful with their gills. They adore being pet, and you can pet their gills, but you need to be really careful, if you are too rough about it you could harm them.
If you were planning on getting one, or if you are now, hope these tips and such helped!
