How to save money on IVF medicine

In the United States, it’s about $10,000 to $13,000 per IVF cycle plus medicine; $6,000 to $9,000 per egg freezing cycle plus medicine. For IVF medicine, it’s about $4,000 to $6,000 per cycle.  But you can always save $500 to $1,000 dollars by taking some tips. Here are some tips that could help you save money: 

Never forget to call your insurance. Talk with one representative and list all the medicine you need. Commonly, IVF medicine is not covered by general insurance, but there is always a possibility that one or two kinds of medicine is covered fully or partially. 

Always ask around. The clinic usually has a designated pharmacy, and will put the prescription there. But you could always contact other pharmacies in your city to see if they had a better price. Sometimes pharmacy A has cheaper Gonal F and pharmacy B has cheaper Menopur, you could always ask your nurse to put your prescription separately to different pharmacies. 

Do not waste any medicine. You need to be very familiar with how to do the injection first. For example, you have several Gonal F (300IU each) and need to inject 175IU per night.
