The island from FLIPEVIL on Vimeo.
the island
3 weeks. The time given to me was 3 weeks. For someone, it will be short if it is short and long if it is long. While working, I wanted to say 'I wish I had more days off' But since I was given three weeks, I didn't know what to do.
I just headed to the island.
There was nothing special to do. There was nothing that i have to. No plan was my plan. After hearing my brother's words, I just decided to walk the Olle road the next day. I walked the Olle road closest to the place where I am now and recorded the process of the road in a video.
A black stone with a hole was created by the island people to live, not for beauty. As the symbol of the island, a Dolhareubang that from their faith, from their lives becames the best artwork.
It's not like that.
A quiet Jeju island is not quiet. It just looks quiet.

Mountains&Oceans from Gao Yang on Vimeo.
Check the full project on Behance: behance.net/gallery/177289833/-Mountains-Oceans
The inspiration comes from Ma Yuan, a famous painter from the Southern Song Dynasty, and his painting “Water Pictures"
My previous works mostly focused on the form of mountains, but this time I want to explore the dynamic nature of water. I also aim to delve into how to express the traditional charm and the freshness of Oriental aesthetics while using modern 3D creation and rendering software. Therefore, I decided to abandon realistic water textures and materials and instead, adopt a more flat approach, such as using points, lines, and surfaces, to represent the dynamic essence of water.
I used Houdini for simulation and Octane Render for rendering.

Playgrounds In Motion - 2023 London Titles from Erwin van den IJssel on Vimeo.
All good things come in threes, and I was happy to be asked once again to create opening titles for Playgrounds, this time for their brand new In Motion festival held in London and Rotterdam. After creating the overall look and feel for the new festival together with the fine folks at BUCK (more on this later!), I wanted to take the wavelength concept that’s at the core of the identity, and take it into as many directions as possible. Waterslides! Apples! Balloon animals! The resulting titles are a patchwork of different styles and ideas, but isn’t that a fitting way to enter the world of In Motion?

Additional Animation: Hugo Morais, Kanso Ogbolu Music & Sound Design: Bertus Pelser @ Amp.Amsterdam

TAKRAR | تكرار from Waref Abu Quba on Vimeo.
Takrar or Repetition is an experimental film that celebrates the timeless and intricate beauty of ancient craftsmanship. Filmed in Istanbul, the film takes us on a mesmerizing journey into the past, paying homage to Islamic, Ottoman, Greek, and Byzantine art forms.
It's hard to believe that I have finished working on this film, which occupied most of my free time over the past two years. When I first visited Istanbul in 2021, I was captivated by its timeless beauty and decided to capture it through my lens. I shot about 2,900 photos, and after editing and animating them, I created about 270 video scenes. Creating each frame of this film was an utter joy, and every new scene brought unexpected and beautiful surprises.
Collaborating with Alex Story on the music for this film was a profoundly enriching experience. Alex went above and beyond to compose music that perfectly complemented the picture. We worked on the score for over eight months, and we were also very lucky to collaborate with percussionist Robbe Kieckens, whose playing added a magical touch to the film. I couldn't be happier with the result.
After months of hard work, I'm thrilled to call this project complete and share it with you. Takrar is my tribute to ancient arts, and hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Mac Miller - The Star Room (OG Version) from Danaé Gosset on Vimeo.
Directed by Danae Gosset
Produced by Pencil TV
Characters Design and Animation: Sam Mason
3D Lead: Vasco Gross
CGI: Tijmen Snelderwaard, Luca Martinelli, Victor Roussel
2D Animation: Alienor Delaporte, Gabby Sibilska, Madelene Wikskär, Zoe Partouche, Dana Roth, David Carrasco, Jessica Alemdjrodo, Youjeong Lee, Merce Iserte
Title Design: Julie Pavia and Vasco Gross
The video depicts the journey of an open-minded character as they navigate the world, discovering and evolving along the way. I had the privilege of collaborating with the incredibly talented Sam Mason, who designed the characters for the video. The storyline begins and ends with a candid embryo-like character, showcasing their growth and transformation through diverse landscapes and encounters. My goal was to capture the essence of a transformative journey while maintaining a childlike curiosity towards exploring different worlds.
In addition, I drew some inspiration from the film "Moonrise Kingdom," from which the song takes a sample from the movie's soundtrack at the beginning, it inspired me to enhance the sense of childlike curiosity and adventurous spirit in the video. The visuals were primarily based on the lyrics of the song, integrating surreal inspiration and imagery to complement the narrative. Objects encountered throughout the video were thoughtfully selected to align with the song's rhythm and enhance the storytelling.
To bring the video to life, we meticulously crafted a hand made layered collage-like technique. We employed a diverse range of physical mediums such as paint, color pencils, gouache, and more. The production involved a combination of 3D animation, 2D animation, footage integration, and VFX, all working together to support a surrealist vision through a handmade vivid, textural, and colorful world.
