This is my first Lucien portrait and I love it so much! I wanted to portray Lucien in the way that I see him and I got inspired by that scene in ACOWAR where he sees Elain and his breathing stops when she faces him.

I think the most powerful thing is that the bonus chapter really is just a bonus one... I mean, I love it, especially their bantering alone on the solstice night and then training and then talking about singing and watching his shadows courting and dancing and singing with her breath.... But, even without that wonderful bonus chapter... you can see how they constantly glare at each other, how the presence of the other makes everything a challenge and fills the space with admiration... of course Az is still confused, but that's normal for a batboy who was in love for 5 hundred years with Mor and who has the need to get loved just as his brothers now are.

but I'm sure he is almost there now... even thinking about her while our valkyries were in the blood rite... every little bit and pieces that are there, for everyone to be seen and not just for who read the bonus chapter.

And after all that bonus chapter, however someone could think about it, is undoubtedly canon.

So I was listening to some Bollywood music and I started crying because I cannot get over how this song is LITERALLY SO ELUCIEN CODED. It’s as if it was written for Lucien like I’m not kidding.

Anyways the song is called “Jashn-E-Bahaaraa” by A.R Rahman

The lyrics are in Hindi so here is the English translation I found online:

So I’ve been seeing a lot of AU’s where Gwyn is a Victoria Secret model (she is let’s be real. SJM used the VS angels for Gwyn’s inspo 100%) anddd I have a Gwynriel head canon🤭🫠

Gwyn and Azriel would be like Barbara Palvin Sprouse and Dylan Sprouse. He would have eyes for only her. He would stand up and just stare in awe and love , with his hand on his heart and his shadows dancing and twirling as Gwyn walks down the runway. Gwyn would spot him and she would blow a kiss and wink before STRUTTING DOWN THAT RUNWAY LIKE THE QUEEN SHE IS. Azriel would bring Gwyn her fave snacks and desserts for her to enjoy after her show. He’s a supportive mate ofc.

OOP OOP OOP or EVEN BETTER. AZRIEL IS ONE OF THE SINGERS THATS PERFORMING ON STAGE AS THE MODELS WALK AND MANS SIMPING OVER GWYN SO HARD AS SHE WALKS OUT.

I have a Gwynriel headcanon😩

There is an part towards the very end of ACOSF that mentions how after the bloodrite and all, the three Valkyries sat down and gave detailed explanations of what they did during the bloodrite to Cass and Az who had then created a list of things they needed to work on and all.

Within that scene I have this headcanon where Gwyn proudly states how she spied and all while looking at Azriel all smugly and he can’t help but have his lip twitch in the corner and he tries to stay stern and hold back a smile at the pure excitement and proudness on her face. And the fact that he’s just as proud of her too auejehsiwHahahwhwshakwksksksjsnwnajd I can’t stand not having enough details of the two of them istg 😭

Here’s a conversation between present day Gwyn and Gwyn from 3 years ago right around the events of Sangravah. This was inspired by the bus stop scene between Barbie and the old lady at the bus stop in the Barbi live action!

Gwyn has always been a very important and meaningful character for me. She represents me almost perfectly and during rough time she rlly gave me the motivation to stand up to my own fears. Just like that she has been an inspiration to so many women in this book community. Just like that, I also believe you yourself should be your biggest motivation. What I loved while I was thinking of this concept was that younger Gwyn is not just looking at her older self to find hope and motivation, but older Gwyn is also being able to look back at how far she’s come. And that no matter what, she will always be enough. I also wanted Gwyn to have short hair cuz I loved how the idea of cutting hair represents growth and liberation in many cultures and works of fiction.
