I think that identity politics - focused leftism needs to move aside in the West. I mean, don't misunderstand me, queer liberation, feminism, and anti-racism are as important as ever. But I think that it's time to have a hard look at the situation we're in and recognize that asking an increasingly fascist government to protect abortion rights, queer ppl, and BIPOC is an exercise in futility.

the unfortunate truth is that class MUST come first and the system MUST be overthrown before those rights are secured. Asking the American empire to protect your rights is like trying to draw blood from a stone. Blaming Trump winning again on sexism, racism, what have you might have an element of truth to it, but at the end of the day you can't skip the step of destroying the system that took rights away in the first place if you want to truly be free, and Democrats ran on a platform of upholding a status quo that doesn't work anymore.

Talk to your neighbors. Do a favor for someone. We have to build our connections with each other rather than being terrified of everyone around us.
