Here's a friendly reminder that using your limited spoons to do something you want to do, or you just find fun, isn't a "waste" even if there's something productive you could do instead. Caring for your mental health is important, and doing things you enjoy can be crucial to that.

February 21, 2023 - FINAL UPDATE
For a chronological timeline of the entire Harper strike, click here.
Today was the Harper Union’s first day back at their desks.
Collective action works.
The union tweeted out a full summation of their agreement with HarperCollins here, but the highlights are as follows:
Minimum wage increase, immediately to $47,500 with a ramp-up to $50,000 by 2025.
A $1,500 bonus for all union members, presumably to partially offset the costs of being left without a paycheck by their company since November
Guaranteed annual raises for all marked satisfactory or above
Union letter and membership card included in new-hire packets
Joint Labor/Management committee to meet monthly
Time on aforementioned committee and/or all company-sponsored DEI activities will be seen as and paid as work time (as opposed to the free labor junior employees were expected to contribute previously)
Juneteenth and Presidents’ Day added as permanent paid holidays (as opposed to, you know, a one-time publicity stunt a la June 2020)
Return-to-office not mandated for union employees until July 1 (currently, Harper expects employees to live and work in NYC)
The above are just the guaranteed, contractually mandated changes that will be implemented at Harper. This does not include the ripple effects that have already begun in the rest of the industry.
Collective action works.

God, demigod, guardian–Every time mankind finds you, during a different age, they give you a title representative of your otherworldly power. You aren’t getting weaker, yet your title gets diluted each time until finally, a group of humans think you’re just a homeless person who needs help.

I hope all the disabled parking spaces at whatever stores you need to go to are empty this week, and that no ableds touch your mobility aids, and that you have a surplus of spoons.

Do you consider fanfiction legitimate writing?
I won the 2004 Hugo Award for Best short story for an H. P. Lovecraft /Arthur Conan Doyle mashup fiction, so fanfiction had better be legitimate, because I'm not giving the Hugo back.
Or the 20O5 Locus Award for Best Novelette. I'm not giving that back either.

Simple drinking game with consequences:
Each participating player character rolls three Constitution Saving Throws and compare them each. The character that rolls higher at two or all three times, wins the game.
Handle the rolls like Death Saving Throws, DC 10 (or more with stronger alcohol). If a character fails all three (a natural 1 counts as two fails), they suffer a blackout:
The next morning they wake up with 1 level of exhaustion (no long rest) and one additional circumstance, determined by a d8:
They wake up in bed with a stranger of prefered gender (if more than one, let the dice decide).
They wake up in the wilderness one mile apart from where they drank.
They wake up injured (roll a fitting die).
They wake up with a strong headache: 2 more levels of exhaustion.
They wake up naked. Their clothes are scattered around the drinking place.
They wake up in prison because of vandalism and have to stay there 1d4 days (add another d4 each time this happens again) or until someone pays 5gp per days left to get them free.
They wake up outside and robbed.
They wake up at the end of a small dungeon or a bandit's cave (if this, they are tied up and robbed).
Feel free to add more 🍻

It makes me sad when people say audio books aren't real reading. Thanks to them I've been able to finish three books in the last month. Couldn't finish a single one since since 2019 before that (I used to read a lot before depression and fatigue syndrom).
AUIDOBOOKS ARE BOOKS. Still count as reading. Still count towards your yearly goal. 16/10 real books.
So happy to hear that they helped you get back into reading, that's amazing ❤

Accidentally annoying someone doesn't make you a horrible person and you don't have to spend your whole life censoring yourself to prevent it from ever happening.
