though it can be

reminders and well wishes

meals and tying of shoes

the mundane, without a second thought, "of course"s

it is not the insistent text messaging out of fear or necessity due to insecurity

but the living and remembering and "oh yeah" and smiling and awaiting and anticipating

looking forward to coming home

sending a digital postcard

i hate to be this person because i used to roll my eyes at people who told me this but finally making myself go through uncomfortable situations for the possibility of joy has resulted in me being happier than i ever could have imagined being. i do think that you should always listen to yourself but i prevented my own happiness for a long time by not knowing how to tell intuition from overthinking and being too afraid and sticking to negative what if’s when i should have been sticking to positive what if’s. not every venture outside your comfort zone will result in some revelation that moves the earth under your feet but the probablilty of it is zero if you never venture out

whenever i imagine my dream home, the kitchen is so so important. hand-painted plates, gorgeous mugs and teapots, a ton of cookie cutters to choose from, niche kitchen supplies, anything to make it feel like mine...i want to wake up early in the morning and make breakfast for me and my lover, open windows letting in the sunlight, birds chirping outside. manifesting this now.

trying to be a kinder and more understanding person doesn’t mean eradicating every feeling of anger and irritation you experience

i carry around this restless & heavy desire to create something grand for this world but sometimes i wonder if we’re all born with this gnawing thing and what life is is just the struggle of this need vs the demanding everyday minutia thats trying its best to quelch it. question remains: do we let the dream wilt or not?

the one (perhaps only) thing i’ll always like about growing older and maturing is the never-ending opportunity to develop and refine your personal taste in pretty much anything. fashion, food, music, literature, art, design, furniture: the older you get, the more knowledge, insight and experience you acquire and it all adds up to a treasure of source material to create a new you from. carve, prune, distill, expand, sculpt, evolve - you can recreate yourself always and aging gracefully is all about endlessly enriching yourself through that recreation.
