the pitt 1.06 i know i've talked about not wanting frank to come back in s2 to hostility and unease due to him being an addict, and my belief that most people in the ER should be more sensitive to the matter, but can you imagine being frank, knowing you have the problem, denying at every turn to others and yourself that you have this problem, potentially being embarrassed or ashamed of this problem, and you look at a whiteboard that looks like this?
like, fuck, are the people working around you really so comfortable throwing out "junkie"? is it so blasé to them that they can bet money on it? like, the hospital social worker can throw down 20 bucks on "junkies"?
what does it make you feel, that you wrote that and got in on the betting? that you look at some guys being wheeled in and ask, "do they look like meth heads to you?" what kind of cognitive dissonance do you have to have to make this not feel like a huge "fuck you"? a huge "they'll all find out and start betting money, because god forbid this be real people with real problems who dont deserve to have their tragedies bet on"?
its difficult to see this scene, see the pan down on the whiteboard full of bets, and then see frank's face and think he's just thinking about his betting odds. that it's not occurring to him at all that this is proof in front of him of how easy it would be to go from "education fellowship recommendation letter written by robby" to laughingstock and gossip. to free entertainment.

“you’re on your own kid, you always have been” and it’s jason grace, abandoned at the age of two, raised with wolves where he was never allowed to show any weakness, immediately after thrown into an environment where he was always expected to lead, always the mediator, yet always apart from the others, always separate. jason grace, always looking a little bit sad, his mortal parent a neglectful alcoholic who left him, his godly father uncaring and unresponsive, yet himself going above and beyond for his friends so nobody would ever feel abandoned and left the way he was. jason grace, who could have become cold and hateful but turned into the opposite force for his friends, always supportive, making them feel worth something, protecting others at the expense of himself. jason grace, who tried so hard to fight his destiny as the son of jupiter, who had so much humanity and all these visionary ideas and dreams, who taught a god what it meant to be human. jason grace, the most tragic and misunderstood of the seven, who always deserved better.

not to be downton abbey posting on main and outing myself as a thomas barrow stan but the teaser from the new movie where mary is inviting thomas upstairs via guy dexter is so funny to me lmao she really said we invited this man to dinner then banished his wife to our servants quarters and she was real for that lol
#downton abbey#thomas barrow#guy dexter#downton abbey movie#downton abbey third movie#i watched this show as a freshman in college and it made a profound impact on my psyche despite its many flaws#so now i am periodically walloped over the head by my love of thomas barrow#my most problematic king

I know it’s just one line in an article and it might not mean what we all think it means – but if Frank is going through a divorce and/or losing custody, I’m actually going to be disappointed.
I don’t know, the constant vilification of addicts just rubs me the wrong way. I just hate the message that addicts are not worthy of having fulfilled lives. And there’s no way for someone struggling with addiction, to be able to keep his loved ones and be cared for.
‘Of course Abby is divorcing her struggling addict husband, of course she’s taking custody of the kids (and dog.) Frank went to rehab, he’s not allowed to be a dad and husband – he’s broken!’
Like do you see what’s wrong with this??
They are going to take away Frank’s safe space (the hospital), his mentor, AND his family! It just seems cruel for no reason.
I’m hoping like in season 1, they don’t jump to stereotypes, and Frank’s story is honest to the reality – addiction is mental illness! We shall see…
