oh my god yes pomni's fear is being forgotten

This might just be coincidental

But I thought this shot felt familiar

For context, the second shot was from the second episode during Pomni’s nightmare

They could’ve picked any angle to show Pomni’s reaction at Jax’s sudden rejection of their friendship, but they decided to go with this close low angled shot, which makes sense because these kinds of shot are effective in portraying unease and discomfort in a scene

But it was also effective in reminding me, if unintentionally, of how that nightmare ended

Which hit even harder when this line inevitably came

Keep in mind that Pomni had this nightmare before she got close with anyone in the Circus, so you’d think she wouldn’t care so much about a bunch of strangers forgetting her so soon after she abstracts

But this cements that her worst nightmare has simply always been to be forgotten

Someone who is comfortable not being known, even if it’s just by a bunch of strangers, wouldn’t feel the need to post a bunch of videos online about urban exploration for people to watch

Pomni’s self made solution to not being forgotten in a world that seemingly doesn’t care about her is to leave an impression on people, in however way she can manage

It’s why she was comforted and grew hopeful when she attended Kaufmo’s funeral with everyone (sans Jax), because even if she abstracted, even if this world were to make her give up entirely, she would still be remembered

She would be missed

So to suddenly be told by a friend, not just a stranger a friend (Jax can lie through his teeth all he wants, it doesn’t make him any less transparent) that she didn’t even matter enough to be remembered…

Yeah, that crossed a line

I think we’re so caught up in waiting for Jax to do something so horrendous like kill or get someone killed in an episode where that was literally the name of the game, that we forgot there’s more than one way for a character to do something inexcusable to someone else

There’s a big difference between forgetting and choosing to forget

One is very intentional
