“Ooh, Director of Exhibits? Do you work at, like, an art museum, or a historical museum, or what? And even if it’s not an accomplishment to you, I think think that it is! I mean, ‘director’ has such an official and authoritative tone to it! You must have an important job, and at least someone needs you!” He shrugged, smiling. He always found a bright side to everything. Life was too short to dwell on the negative. “Being able to afford a house is a great feeling though. I remember when I bought my apartment with Pollo, it was the best experience in the world, even if it was a little scary at first. I’m sure you’ll be fine though!”
Clay grinned a little bit at the comment, his cheeks a flustered pink. “Aw thanks! You’re one of the few people who can stand me talking so fast for so long then. Most people think I get annoying after a while, but I can’t help it. Once I start talking, I can’t stop! Just how I was raised, I guess!” Technically true, but it came more as a side-effect of his raising rather than a direct result or cause-of. “Anyway, if you wanna talk more about your job or whatever else you want, I’m all ears! I just might ask a bunch of questions, haha.”
Adrian fumbled around in her purse for a moment before unearthing a pamphlet. She then offered it to Clay and smiled. “Both! It’s a history museum that features art. I think a great many interesting artifacts should be considered art, actually, but then I’d be delving deeply into theory to explain that perspective.” Something something, pictures of pipes. She found the phrasing of someone ‘needing’ her rather surprising, but she did not try to correct or figure out what exactly that meant. “Thanks for the encouragement! An apartment is a big responsibility, as well. Much more difficult than living with parents and/or guardians that tell you how to take care of their space.” Best to be inclusive about that just in case.
“Oh, trust me. You’re very sweet, and I’ve had to handle strange speech patterns along with poor personalities before. This isn’t trying.” Sometimes she had to be thankful that she had gotten out of the entertainment industry when she had. People there could be nasty and more difficult to comprehend. The demands could be nonsensical and then worth yelling at management about. “You can ask as many questions as you like if you’re genuinely curious. Or we could talk about our friends if that’s easier. I have the time now, which is rather nice.”

Sebastian hadn’t really known what to expect from this…as he’s been warned…’eccentric’ witness.
Too bad he didn’t really know what that word meant either.
“Er, right. That’s me. I’m Sebastian Debeste. The best prosecutor around. You’re a…performer, aren’t you?”
Sebastian had dabbled a bit in musical performance, but…magic wasn’t exactly his forte. It served as a way to break the ice however, so…

“Best prosecutor,” Max echoed approvingly, pleased that the most apt person for the job had been assigned to this case. He had been dissatisfied with how the case in which he had been accused was handled, but supposed that the prosecution’s runaround was the actual murderer’s fault. He could only hope that this case went more smoothly. “Fabulous! I am indeed a performer- a stage magician, to be exact. If the court requires a demonstration, I could be persuaded to comply. What would be most fitting illusion, do you think? I suppose making the judge disappear would border on disrespectful and make the prosecution look decidedly... un-fabulous...”

“Aw man, sounds like a bitch to deal with–wait, you’re okay with cursing right? I can stop if you want, but fair warning, I might slip up a little bit. It’s kinda in my nature. Anyway,” Clay said, his words going near a mile a minute, “I’m real sorry about that. Some crazy junk happens in this city, and it always seems like this agency can pull off just about anything to get their clients justice. Glad to see you’re one of ‘em! You seem like a real sweet lady.” He tried to slow his roll, maybe stop bouncing from side to side just so much. He always got so excited when he met new people, but often times he came off too strong. Hopefully this time he can properly control himself.
“And yeah! I’m an astronaut! Took a lot of hard work to get where I am now, and sometimes it’s a lot harder work than I coulda ever imagined doing, but here I am! I don’t, like, always go to the moon though. Sometimes I just get sent up for satellite repair and data recovery, junk like that. Sometimes I don’t go up at all, and that’s when I work on equations to help better experiences for the next trip! It’s all real fun, and we all treat each other like family. In fact, I knew one of the other lawyers here before she decided to go into law! And her makeshift uncle too! Seems like everyone’s getting into law nowadays…” Clay rambled, his hands practically shaking in excitement now. Once he started, he couldn’t stop, and at this point he couldn’t even tell if Adrian was even interested in what he was saying. He was just glad to be saying it.
“So I imagine you got a good job if you were able to pay for a house on your own in this city! Wanna tell me about what you do? I think I’ve been talking enough for a lifetime, haha!”
“I- yes?” Adrian had heard much worse than cursing while she had worked in the entertainment industry. While she was far from unflappable, she had barely noticed anything particularly crude. She waved a hand as the young man continued, urging him to keep explaining. It was a little dizzying to try to keep up with Clay’s line of thought, but she found it refreshing. “That’s- Thank you?”
She nodded when she could, trying to wrap her mind around some of the jargon. Adrian definitely knew what all of the words meant in the explanation, but she was not entirely sure what they meant in this context. It seemed best to not to interrupt and ask, though. Adrian thought she got enough of the gist.
“I think it’s a pretty good job. I’m Director of Exhibits at a museum in town. I suppose that there are quite a lot of museums in LA, so maybe that’s not quite an accomplishment, but it’s gotten me as far as being able to be in a comfortable enough fiscal position to afford a house.” Getting this far had been a long journey, so Adrian supposed that she was entitled to be proud of herself for more than just no longer needing to rent a residence. “But you’re fine, Clay. I promise. Feel free to tell me as much about you and your job as you like. I can tell you’re passionate about your career, which makes it fulfilling to listen to you.” Adrian smiled genuinely, not wanting to make the poor guy feel insecure. It was not like she had been having to listen to someone ramble on about the glories of the assembly line or something. Even if it had been a boring job or explanation (to her), though, Adrian probably would have encouraged him to keep talking.

The poro blinks, then snuggles some more, then blinks again! It tilts its head and chitters in a confused tone, wiggling a paw. Were the snuggles not good? Confused poro.
Adrian put her head in her hands for a moment. “I’m sorry that I’m just... like this. You’re good, I swear.”

Despite the fact that he’d only known this woman for approximately two minutes, when he heard the news that she got a house, a grin split across his face and he felt genuine happiness for the first time that day. “Aww sweet! I’m so happy for you, uh….” He stopped, suddenly sheepish. He didn’t even know her name. “…Whatever your name is.”
Nonetheless, Clay jumped up with way more enthusiasm than a person who just hit his head on the corner of the table should have and shot out his hand in her direction. “I’m Gay Terran.” Clay took a minute before catching his mistake, bursting out into laughter again. “Sorry, Clay. I’m Clay Terran. It’s nice to meet you.
“And yeah, ‘course I’d like to come! I’m uhh… Shoot, this depends on if you’ve met Pollo or not. I haven’t seen you in any of his trials so…” Clay scratched his head, thinking. “I’m… Mr. Wright’s employee’s best friend? I’m Apollo Justice’s best friend. I’m an astronaut! I work at the space center downtown at GYAXA. What about you? How do you know ‘em?”
She stared at the unusually enthusiastic young man for a while, trying to figure out whether it was okay to laugh or not. Well he seemed to be in good spirits, but Adrian did not want to make him feel bad for messing up his own name. She had scrambled her own name up enough times that she had debated explaining that she did the same thing often. But dwelling on the matter would do no good, and the moment had passed. She accepted the extended hand, and smiled tentatively.  “Adrian. Adrian Andrews. It’s nice to meet you too.”
“I’ve met Mr. Justice, but I don’t know him very well. I, erm, don’t make a practice of actually spending much time in court.” Adrian took her hand back, and folded both of her hands neatly in front of her as she started to pull herself back into what happened years ago. “A while back, Mr. Wright defended- well he wasn’t my defense attorney. My client’s. And then he accused me of murde- I am making him sound terrible, but I promise that he and Mr. Edgeworth did a lot to make sure that justice was served. I try to keep in touch.”
She bit down on her lip. “Astronaut, though? That’s fascinating. Sometimes I forget that’s a job that people are allowed to have.”

Is poro! Is snuggly! Is adorable ram creature! Gives snuggles. Friend?
Adrian considered her decision for a moment for announcing, “Snuggles? That seems fair.”

Clay had only sat up and rubbed the back of his head, hissing under his breath. That was gonna be sore for a few hours at least. Looking up at the woman who was now rambling over him, he couldn’t help but laugh a little; not out of malice, but just out of the hilarity of the situation.
“Nah, I’m fine. I’ll be good in a bit. But uh…” he trailed off, looking around the office a little bit, “none of the actual lawyers are here. I don’t actually work here, I’m just one of their friends. All of their friends? I dunno. But they’re on break. I can take a message for this ‘big news’?”
He didn’t really consider himself an assistant here, especially since most of the time he just distracted Apollo from his work, but he did run errands for the agency from time to time. Did taking messages come included with that?
“They’re not?” Adrian let out a breathy sigh. She was not sure if that meant that Mr. Wright’s daughter was hanging around, but figured that she would make her presence known if necessary. Besides, this nice... well the injured person that was not the office’s legal secretary... had offered to take a message. She kept checking surreptitiously for signs of a concussion as the conversation continued.
“I wanted to let them all know that I managed to buy a house! In a reasonable arrangement! In this economy, even. And I was hoping to have a housewarming party this weekend.” Adrian supposed that being this excited over real estate was a little strange, and made her feel more suburban white woman steadily approaching middle age, but she had to allow herself to be happy about it.
As an afterthought, she added, “You can come too, if you like.” She did not really not have enough friends for it to be possible to overcrowd her new place. “Any friend of Mr. Wright’s is lovely in my books! How do you know all of them?”

Adrian was actually having quite a good day, which was why she had made plans to do more than go to work and then send meticulously crafted private text messages to select persons. Generally, her plans did not involve informing other people of the plans, but she always had enjoyed bringing pleasant surprises.
She had just about to shout out that she had Big News, when she heard a strange thunking sound, which appeared to have come from a stranger that she did not recognize. For a moment, Adrian had to dart her eyes around the room to ensure that this was indeed Mr. Wright’s law office. Now there were more lawyers, she supposed, but it had been his office first. Or second. It was hard to keep track.
“...Because of big news?” That was about all she could say in explanation before she rushed over to the fallen stranger. “I am so sorry about that,” Adrian said stiffly. “Were you... the only one here? Do you need first aid administered? Do I need to remember how to do that?”
@finallybeensaved ☆☆ Liked for a starter
Clay typically hung around the Wright Anything Agency’s office on his days off while waiting for Apollo to get off work. Most times he draped himself on the couch while other times he pestered whoever was closest about whatever they were doing. It really depended on his mood.
Today was a bad day.
Clay was face down on the couch, one leg off the cushions and the other over the arm of the couch. He was slowly falling off it, but he didn’t bother picking himself back up; it was much easier to whine about falling off instead to employees who were gone for a lunch break.
Until the agency’s door slammed open.
He fell off the couch with a thud, hitting his head on the table. “Oww…!” He held the back of his head, squinting up at the person who barged into the office. “What was that for, lady?”

Max poked his head around the corner, and half walked and half glided over to where the prosecutor for the case was. “I was told that you were the one responsible for looking into that awfully dreadfully awful incident. It’s been some years since my last brush with the law, but it’s so much better to not be on the other side of a detention holding cell!” He shuddered dramatically, but he was genuinely distressed by the idea of having to experience all of that again. “Maximillion Galactica, star witness,” he greeted, extending his hand.

@thedetectiveofinaba
While on a break from work, Adrian glanced up from her book, and realized that she did not recognize her surroundings. This was not at all where she had expected to be, considering she was in the middle of the sprawling city of Los Angeles. Or, well, she had thought that she was still in Los Angeles when she had started reading and wandering. (Spoiler alert: she was still in Los Angeles- just in the neighborhood adjacent to the one expected)
SInce she was low on phone data for the month, Adrian figured that asking for directions might be a good way to get a head start. She approached the least-threatening stranger in the area.
“Excuse me!” Her judgment tended to be better after she had a conversation with someone, so Adrian planned to bolt if things went sour. “Could you tell me where the nearest library is?” She did not want to let the mysterious person know that she was lost. “Or coffee shop? I’m looking for a wi-fi connection.”

“Oh, no, no! It’s okay!” she shook her head while waving her hands in front of her. True, it was a sore spot for her, however, she knew the woman meant no ill intent by mentioning it. “No harm done, promise!”

Ah, she was so eager, it was practically impossible to stop herself from bouncing on her feet. “I’ll give you a special invitation and hey, if you miss it for whatever reason, it’s all on tape! But I do agree that live performances are better. I guess some things can never be predicted, right?”
“Conversations could be predicted better on my part...” Adrian nodded slowly, still feeling very bad. “The experience of a live performance and a recording are so different. If you create a cost-benefit analysis, surely the recording can bring more net enjoyment because of widespread distribution, but then critics such as Benjamin would argue that it loses its aura when reproduced... Which is essentially what you’re saying.” She bit down on her lip. “I deeply appreciate the invitation, and will be sure not to miss it, existence of the recording or not.”
