La lecture au jardin (1908-10). Henri Lebasque (French, 1865-1937). Oil on canvas.
Lebasque took on a similar flatness in his forms and colors as Les Fauves, though the effect was subtiler in Lebasque’s works. In 1924, he moved to Le Cannet on the French Riviera, where he shared a manikin with his friend Bonnard. Lebasque, called by critics and artists the painter of “joy and light,” was admired for the intimacy of his themes and the unique joy in his colors and forms.

february productivity challenge, day two: what are you reading right now?
my current read is the bird way by jennifer ackerman, which is a non-fiction book all about different bird behaviours/characteristics!! super interesting if you’re a bird fan, i’m about 100 pages in and have already annoyed my family and friends with many bird facts
in terms of productivity, today was ok. i fought with rstudio and lost, but had a productive meeting with my honours supervisor!
