Mattie: No way. He's friends with my brother. He's sporty and could date any girl. There has to be another reason.

Finn: Really? I didn't realize you were so involved in the clubs at NS. Which ones are you in?

Finn: Uh, I've totally fallen for friends sisters before.

Finn: Idk I mean I obviously don't know the situation, but I still say he could be into or he thinks you're really cool and just likes hanging out with you.

Finn: Besides, if I can somehow wind up dating Quinn, I think you can get whoever the hell this guy is.

Running into people seemed to be a thing that was happening more and more to Mason. He hadn’t expected to run into Finn as he left the Music Production lab, he’d been trying to spend every waking moment putting as many finishing touches on his portfolio pieces as he could. Sure senior year still felt like a million years away, but college application season was far more close than he liked to think about, and so far was leading to more sleepless nights than even he was used to. Still, if it meant that during the summer he could take somewhat of a break then Mason was going to continue to push himself. He flashed a smile as he watched Finn pull the earbuds from his ear. “Oh, ugh I was just on my way to rehearsal and I noticed you…” Mason started to say, his voice slightly trailing off as he continued to talk. “Nothing is really up with me though, at least nothing worth talking about. You?”

“Oh aren’t you...” he trailed off, the twitter notifications on his phone coming at a rapid rate now. “Sorry, gimme a second.” He paused the music playing, and scrolled through his settings to turn off his twitter notifications before putting the phone in the pocket of his jeans. “Sorry, twitter was about to drive me insane — you know if anything big’s going on on there?” Maybe there was something happening that he wasn’t aware of? He shook his head, getting back to their interaction before he got sidetracked. “Right, rehearsal. How do you think things are going?” He asked, hoping for an honest answer. Finn cared about the team and wanted nothing more than to see their smiling faces as the New Directions are announced as the winners at Regionals. “How are you doing with rehearsals? I’m always around if you need something. Hope you know that.”

Mattie: Why would a guy who's friends with my brother want to hang out with just me?

Finn: Damn, you think? We should start a club or something. LOL jk, that'd be silly.

Finn: Off the top of my head? Because he's into you, probably.

FINN: Okay? My phone's been kinda blowing up all day. I had to turn twitter notifications back off because I've been getting so much stuff. Though I haven't been able to make sense of any of it yet.

Finn: I always thought the septum one looked kinda cool. On other people. I could never pull that off. Reminds me of bulls though.

Finn: I've never gotten a piercing so I wouldn't really know, but I can definitely ask around for ya.

Mattie: Totally hypothetical question, but say someone wants to get their nose pierced without parental consent...are there places here that do that? Again, so hypothetical it's not even funny.

Finn: ...so you're looking for somewhere that'll do it illegally?

Finn: Not judging, just asking.

TIME: tuesday afternoon

LOCATION: north shore campus

Finn had some time to kill before rehearsals and a lot on his mind, so he put on some music and took a walk around campus. There was a lot to worry about. He was impatiently awaiting his college acceptances, a plethora of which he was expecting rejection letters from. Regionals was rapidly approaching and he wanted nothing more than to finish off his senior year on a high note, to help lead the New Directions to some much deserved wins. The lack of football — and hockey, since quitting the team — freed up his time but left him more restless than carefree. On top of all that, and his senioritis, he was just waiting for his dad to disappoint him again. His mind took a break from all that as his phone vibrated nonstop for nearly a minute straight, something that had been happening off and on since turning on his twitter notifications that morning. Finally, he had a moment to check them. He was in the middle of that when he felt a presence next to him. “Uh, sorry about that. Didn’t hear ya — what’s up?” He quickly took his headphones out, Blink-182′s All The Small Things now audible to the both of them.

FINN: Thanks, though. You know already this because I say it all the time, but you're the best.

FINN: That's not gonna work for me. I gotta be able to look at you. I'm sitting in the front, where I can get the best view.
