This past week Fiorio stylists had the pleasure of working with American Crew Canada again at Toronto Men’s Fashion Week. Our stylists have been participating in TOM*FW since the inception of the fashion week. This past Saturday we caught up with a few of our stylists backstage as they prepped 50 models for what can only be described as one of the most memorable shows since TOM’s founding.

This season’s show took place at the new Mattamy Athletic Centre, previously and better known as the Maple Leaf Gardens building. What made this such a monumental show was the fact the Beatles played their last show August 17th, 1966 at Maple Leaf Gardens. As an ode to the influential band that spoke to generations The City of Toronto Museums & Heritage and TOM collaborated on a runway show. On Saturday August 20th, 2016 guests poured in and lined up to be seated. By 6pm everyone was seated the last announcement was made and the lights went down. As the models walked the runway it slowly became a timeline defining an era through the eclectic style of the Beatles. From a prim and proper tailored suit to the psychedelic 60’s the designers captured and highlighted the bands most successful and controversial moments in history.

The King Of Grooming

Earlier this year American Crew, the brand behind the revolution of men’s barbering, announced their partnership with one of America’s most legendary entertainers of all time, Elvis Presley. An icon that not only influenced generations with his music but also his sense of style. The iconic hairstyles, grooming and fashion took America and the world by storm. Men of all ages experimented with the King of Rock and Roll’s edgy new look.

Paying tribute to the man who empowered us all to be ourselves, American Crew has now released a special edition line of grooming products exclusively for men. There will be a limited run of six classic styling products with exclusively designed labels featuring “ The King”. Products will include Pomade, Forming Cream, Grooming Cream, Moulding Clay, Defining Paste and Fiber.

Makeover For Mom

The Fiorio Cumberland staff are no stranger to a few TV cameras floating through their location. However Monday March 7th was a little bit different. The Cumberland team was not only joined by Cityline and one lucky lady that would receive a makeover. No, they were joined by three new moms that had just won Today’s Parent magazine’s competition #MakeoverForMom. Below are a few photos from behind the scenes. The Makeover will be airing on City Tv Mid- April and you can also read all about it in the next issue of Today’s parent on April 15th. Until then the you will have to guess what our talented stylists and colourists came up with for these lovely ladies.

Our Finalists

We are excited to announce that four of our very talented stylists have been been announced as finalists in two major international competitions. Keisha Williams was selected as a top ten finalist for the 2016 Stylmaster international competition. Andrew Soares, Anna- Mari Opszanski and Cody James were all selected as top ten finalists for the American Crew All Star Challenge.

Get the Olivia Wilde centre part wave look for the next time you go out. 

Step 1: Set and prep the hair with Stylemaster’s elevator spray. Start by sectioning the hair spraying at the base to the mid-shaft of the hair on dry hair. Make sure your work the product in from the root down the hair to create that lift at the base. 

Step 2: (optional) add in a elixir or argan oil to reduce & control frizz and give shine

Step 3: Make waves ! Start  about midway down and create large loss curls. Remember you want to create strong sections. Let the hair fall out of the bottom of the barrel.

30 Days Of Beauty | Day 30 

We have had such a blast working with @carolebeves for the past 30 days on this campaign. From visiting all the locations for onsite photoshoots, to seeing the bond between stylists and their clients and of course sorting through and finding that one portrait for the daily post. To wrap up this campaign we are excited to share a photo from our Flagship location, Fiorio Cumberland.  It gives us even greater pleasure to share this portrait of Alexandra Orlando. Alex had her hair styled by level 2 stylist Michael Medeiros and Makeup done by Ayesha Butt of Euphoria Now. 

“This past summer I had the incredible honour of being my best friend's MOH as she tied the knot to her University sweetheart. Her entire bridal party was made up of our closest friends from high school and as the day drew closer we took advantage of spending as much time together as we could. One of the best memories from the wedding weekend was actually the morning of the big day. After a hilarious slumber party, just us girls, we woke up and got pampered at Fiorio. The 5 of us walked into the salon bright and early, dresses in hand and stretchy pants on, to meet our incredible beauty team. Not only did they make every one of us feel special, but truly joined in on all the fun as we reminisced about our friendship and shared stories. We laughed, I may have happy cried a little, and left feeling beautiful, refreshed and excited! We couldn't thank the team enough for sharing in such a special moment for all of us and especially the stunning bride. Fiorio Day  | Post 1 of 3

The Beauty Academy Show 

This past Sunday November 22nd, 2015 Fiorio hosted their annual event Fiorio Day. This is the one time of the year when the employees of all nine Fiorio Salon and Spa locations get together and celebrate the year accomplishments. As part of this years entertainment the Fiorio Beauty Academy students and instructors put together a secret masquerade themed show. The presentation of the hair was astounding. A high level of class, sophistication with a touch of modern inspiration. 

The show began with a live demonstration of the students and instructors  styling 8 models on stage. As the students worked along to some intense motivating music you could see just how excited they were to be on stage for the first time. Bill Rowley stated, “They were just the right amount of nervous.” It was really quit hard to believe that this was student work. The level of styling and production of the show was jaw dropping. Especially when you consider many of these students had never picked up a pair of sheers 8 months ago. Now they are producing stage worthy work in front of 230 colleagues. Following the live styling portion of the show the models preceded to do a proper walk down the stage. Each model showed there individual hair style in a number of poses. Oxana, one of the beauty academy instructors, put together the models costume. She even went as far as making the models tutus. The catwalk  allowed the viewer a chance to truly appreciate the work that went into each style and look. The little details from alternating black and white outfits to the finer accessories in there hair. 

 A big round of applause to the senior class at the Fiorio Beauty Academy. We are very excited to see what else this class has in store for us before graduating in March 2016.

Hard to believe that November is almost over. @carolebeves and we have had a blast releasing a new photo over the past few days and this is not an exception. Carolyn featured here, has been visiting Fiorio SquareOne for the past few years.
