Te Rerenga Wairua/Cape Reinga. Te Rerenga Wairua means the leaping-off place of spirits. Here the Tasman Sea is to the west and Pacific Ocean to the east. I’ve wanted to visit this place since I was a teenager. :)

Rewi Maniapoto Reserve, Kihikihi
In 1881 the government granted Rewi Maniapoto a one-acre section at Kihikihi, where a large house was built for him. From his verandah Rewi supervised the building of a monument to himself, donated by Sir George Grey. The unveiling of the monument, pictured here, was held on 24 April 1894. Two months later Rewi died and was buried at its base. A prominent Kīngitanga leader, Rewi is remembered for his military prowess during the war of 1863–64 and for leading the final Māori stand in Waikato at Ōrākau, 5 kilometres to the east.
