hi everyone! it’s with a heavy heart that the admod team has decided to put fireflieshq on an indefinite hiatus. it’s been a wonderful run with your lovely muses, and we appreciate the effort you’ve put into interacting with our story and the characters in it! we hope that you had as much fun writing in this directory as we did running it, and it was our honour to have you here for the duration that we were open. if you would like, please feel free to continue writing and developing the muses you’ve created. we may plan to reopen fireflies one day, and if we do, we hope to meet you and your wonderful muses once more. thank you once again for joining us on this journey, and we hope to see you all one day, either in a different context or hopefully, in a revamped fireflies!

MISSION BRIEF … ❮ division four sets up camp at sancheong bus terminal to repair an abandoned bus. ❯

SITUATION #02. DESIGNATE: DIV4

SANCHEONG BUS TERMINAL  outside the tunnels, the sky is pouring and the ground is thick with viscid mud. division four to set up camp at sancheong bus terminal as [BLACK SWAN] and the [SCAVENGERS] collaborate to find the required parts needed to repair the abandoned bus. [SCOUTS] to find workable paths out of sancheong that can accommodate the large vehicle and to be on alert for risk of floods. with the weather affecting visibility, [COMBATANTS] should also be on higher alert for potential attacks by the infected or other hostile groups. the comms systems are drenched in rainwater from the journey to the bus terminal. [SIREN SONG] receives garbled intelligence that the reinforcements from gwangju qz, known as division six, have arrived at the rendezvous point in muju county shortly before comms go down.  1955 hrs, august 27, 2023

EXECUTION

CHAPTER 2  and the second chapter begins – div4 has made it out of the tunnels to salvage an abandoned bus in the hopes of making up for lost time. however, bad weather resulting in broken communications have made it nearly impossible for them to contact their fellow firefly division from gwangju qz. with the progress of the mission now seemingly at stake and the rain water getting into everything, the division’s journey ahead looks more out of reach than ever.

in-character, div4 have set up camp at sancheong bus terminal and will be in this area until the next plot drop. out-of-character, members may start threads about this event from october 8 to november 11. there will be another optional task that will be dropped midway through this chapter, so keep an eye out for it!

some prompts to consider: how is your muse holding up against the weather and the many complications? what do they think of the missing communications from div6? has any of these setbacks affected your muse’s morale and dynamics with the rest of the division?

it’s not compulsory for muns to participate in this ooc, but this is a canon event that will affect all div4 muses ic-wise! from this point on, div4 has lost contact with gwangju qz’s division six.

why tumblr and not mewe? I’d love to join, but.. in my experience tumblr isn’t well built for long lasting rps or rp in general. it’s very off putting sadly. :/

hi, we sympathise that there is no perfect platform for roleplaying, unfortunately. ultimately, our decision to go with tumblr is simply because the admod team are more familiar with the platform compared to mewe!

not sure if this has been asked before but what kind of character/personality/background would you want to see more here?

hello, thanks for the question! we've answered a similar question a while back that can be found here, but we've also come up with more ideas for you! regarding the pre-apocalypse, we'd love to see characters of any background and how the events leading up to today makes them who they are and how it informs their decision making. however, if you'd like some suggestions, we'd love to see characters whose backgrounds play with the world just outside our own lore. for instance, someone like alice from resident evil who woke up from a medically-induced coma in an abandoned hospital, and is thrown into the post-apocalyptic world. or even a prisoner with very limited access to the events occurring just outside prison walls, and one day, all the guards just up and abandoned the place and they're now forced to find their own way out of the frying pan ( i.e. their prison cell ) and into the fire. maybe even someone who visited south korea during their gap year only to be stuck here indefinitely, with nothing to them but their poor handle on the language. or your local conspiracy theorist, avid gamer, or zombie enthusiast who suspected, very early on, that the infectious fungus going around to cause mood disorder was going to lead to zombies, and they've decided that outbreak day is the best day of their lives! as for their reasons for joining division four, we currently have a lot of muses that are quite aligned with the fireflies, so we'd love to see muses who share different loyalties, like a sneaky double agent from a different faction who's gathering intel on or planning to sabotage the team! or someone who's a little morally grey, like volunteering for division four because it served their own unique purpose as opposed to just wanting to do the altruistic thing and lend their skills to the team. perhaps someone who wants to hitch a ride out of busan and to a location closer to cheongju, and realises the strength in numbers as their best bet for survival? or someone who's trying to escape busan qz in general because of their own personal reasons! of course, whatever you decide is completely up to you, and we'd love to see what you come up with! you are also welcome to play around with any of the ideas here and put your own personal spin to it! we hope to see you soon! ♡

SITUATION #01b. DESIGNATE: DIV4

ABANDONED METRO TUNNEL UNDERNEATH DAEHA  division four has taken a vote, allowing the three survivors to join the division. the division continues by foot towards the vehicle seen by [BLACK SWAN] nearby sancheong bus terminal, in order to repair it and make up for the time that was lost while travelling underground. in preparation with the [SCAVENGERS], they also collect the needed parts for repair. the estimated journey length to sancheong bus terminal is one day.  0845 hrs, august 26, 2023

EXECUTION

CHAPTER 1b  happy acceptance to our new characters! now that they’ve joined div4, the division is hoping to repair an abandoned bus, so they can meet up with gwangju qz’s division 2 in muju county.

in-character, div4 are travelling underground to reach the abandoned sancheong bus terminal. out-of-character, this is our introductory event for chpt1 skeletons, so all members may participate and start threads about this at any time.

hm, let's see! we envisioned someone who'd be like a tank in combat, reliable and steadfast – so we'd suggest faces like nct's jung jaehyun, p1harmony's yoon keeho, ateez's choi san, twice's hirai momo, wjsn's kim hyunjung (seola), actors han sohee, gong myung, im jinah, kim sejeong, and ma dongseok! we hope this was helpful for you, but please bring the face that you envision would fit best for your muse ♡

agent JIN DOSOO has volunteered as a SCIENTIST in division four. they are 41 years old and resemble BAE DOONA of the good ol’ days. think they used to be an ASSISTANT PROFESSOR back then, too. pity those days are over now. they’re a little ALOOF, but with their PRECISION, they’re sure to make a fine addition to the unit. good luck and godspeed, soldier.

there was nothing out of the ordinary with her childhood. her family always said she had a dream too big for her own good. the jins were good with knives and pans, not papers and pens, or so dosoo was told. a small quip would end up in a full-blown argument with her parents and dosoo would find herself by the coast of sindeok beach, thinking that this, gutting fish and mollusks, was all she was good for. it took years of arguments and even longer years of small talks over dinner that her family finally relented. her cousins still thought she was doing all of this so she didn’t have to deal with fish anymore (the words rang true but dosoo wasn’t about to let her intention known) when she brought her diploma home, the first in her family, all the jeers stopped.

during her time in college, dosoo had grown exceptionally close to her supervisor, professor yang jeongmi. dosoo was made known of professor yang’s background which bore striking similarities to hers: the odd one in a family that didn’t value education as much as they did with an unwavering devotion to their dreams. professor yang saw herself in dosoo, she confessed as much, and dosoo, longing for someone who understood her, latched onto her. dosoo came home less and less; there was always something to be done around professor yang and the disappointment on her face when dosoo told her she wouldn’t be coming wasn’t worth the constant nagging her mother gave her.

dosoo got married to someone professor yang introduced her to. lim jungha was a colleague before anything else; they worked together several times but there was no budding romance between them, no matter how hard professor yang insisted that asst. prof. lim was head over heels for her (perhaps he was; dosoo was too preoccupied with her papers to see it). her family liked asst. prof. lim, her mother especially so; it was the only thing she shared with professor yang. she got to know asst. prof. lim (jungha, he insisted) and life went on. the marriage, after all, was proven to be beneficial for both of them.

dosoo first heard of the cordyseps from professor yang. both dosoo and jungha were among the scientists who worked to observe the mutation. their objectives changed when the infection reached korean peninsula; alongside kdrt, they worked to contain the infection and, to some selected scientists, find a cure. some days, dosoo managed to keep her zen; their laboratory was isolated from the outside world with first-grade protection against the infected. 

the day dosoo received a call from her mother was the day her peace shattered. the infected had reached yeosu and with the elderly making up the majority of her family, they were as good as immobilized. help us, my daughter, her mother had said, but dosoo wasn’t moved. in the end, it was jungha who persuaded her to contact the kdrt to provide transport for her family.

the request was denied. despite being the lead researcher in their project, the kdrt held no respect for her and her family and, for the first time, dosoo wondered who they worked to find the cure for when it was clear that the kdrt held zero compassion for the survivors. professor yang remained tightlipped and unwilling to pull any strings to keep dosoo’s family safe. it was jungha, always jungha, who sneaked her out of the laboratory but was unable to follow because he couldn’t abandon his post. dosoo didn’t call him a coward, not to his face anyway, but she promised to return once she saw her family in safety.

splatters of blood on the wall welcomed her. aunt misook, with her bright eyes turned glassy greeted her by the front door and dosoo ran, ran, ran. she ran and she hid, the two things she realized she was best at, and made a call to jungha, only to hear that the laboratory had been compromised and he, too, was on the run. they had the kdrt, in the beginning, but they had no one now. it was only then dosoo realized that the organization was never their ally.

fireflies was everything she stood against. dosoo was told that they were a group of terrorist, yet whatever their causes were, it was the better option compared to the kdrt. so she ran until she found the spraypainted logo and camped around there for days, waiting for someone, anyone, to come and find her. perhaps, this way, dosoo could finally have the resources to find jungha and whatever left from her family.
