You know how in hanahaki (Unrequited love from Character A to Character B that causes flowers to grow in the lungs of Character A) when Character A dies from asphyxiation, the hanahaki usually ends? Well imagine if it didn't, and at some point, B is standing at the grave, sad and crying, and manages to love them back. Then A crawls out of the ground like a zombie, fully healed. I feel like that would be funny

Yes exactly! People who try to force a moralistic structure on Raava and Vaatu are obviously going to miss the point. Like, I know it's based on the idea of yin/yang and eastern philosophy, however the first thing that occurs to my mind is Ma'at vs Isfet from the Egyptian mythology. Ma'at was revered as order and light, and Isfet was chaos and disorder and it was the job of the pharaoh, the 'god on earth' to uphold Ma'at and keep Isfet at bay. However, the days and nights, and seasons were cyclical, and both had equal power. This shows the Western lens Raava and Vaatu are viewed through. However, as I believe it is stated very clearly, Raava is an opponent to change and under her rule all of the world would stay exactly the same, leading to stagnation. Vaatu brings change, and, when not properly channelled, chaos and total destruction. It is only when both are properly in balance (and this doesn't mean light vanquishes darkness or that light should be available in greater quantities, but that both respect each other equally) that the world progresses, bringing the changes that uplift and improve the world. Which is why I'm waiting for Seven Havens with some measure of anticipation, to hopefully see the twin Avatars reach a point (it may take the whole show) where each respects the power and function of the other.

Watching people insist that Raava and Vaatu are a bland Good Spirit vs Bad Spirit thing is gonna be my 13th reason tbh

Attention all Ninjago tumblr artists and writers!

Masters of Zinejitsu is excited to announce our very first ninjago fanzine-

Elements of Sentiments!

Elements of Sentiments is about bringing artists and writers across the fandom (or at least the tumblr side) together, with the purpose of putting a spotlight on your favorite ships! Our goal is to pair one artist and one writer and assign them a ship. The pairings will then create a collaborative piece of art + a short ficlet inspired by one of four themes. Angst, Jealousy, Crush, and Comfort. Both the ship and theme will be assigned based on personal preference. However it is important to keep in mind that only one ship is allowed per pairing (with five ships per theme). So it is likely you will not get your first choice.

While it is always nice to have a partner in mind, that is not required! We will be pairing up single individuals based on preferences. If you have someone in mind you want to collaborate with you will have the option to put that on your application when the time comes. You have a week from now to get your ducks in a row in that regard. We also ask that you have your portfolio’s/example pieces ready to go and visible without having to request access ahead of time. One last thing! We are limiting our acceptance to ships to Ninja X Ninja OR ninja adjacent characters. So no OC’s or self-ships. We are also limiting our accepted content to canon or canon-compliant AU’s only (as there are some ships on here that haven’t met/haven’t interacted in canon in a very long time). This is so our scope is more focused and cohesive. We do have future plans for OC and AU zines however so there’s always next time!

Applications will be opening up next Sunday June 22nd at 12 PM PST. Until then we will be introducing our mod team. Feel free to check out our FAQ *link that here*, and if you still have any questions shoot an ask our way!
