There are a couple of things about current shipping culture that confuse me.
1. The focus on whether or not a pairing will become canon as a reason people should ship something or not. Do you not understand what the “transformative” part of “transformative works” means?”
2. This idea that saying “I ship that” means “I think that, as presented in canon, this is a perfect, healthy relationship that everyone should model their relationship after.”
Sometimes shipping something does mean that. Sometimes shipping something means “Person A is a trash bag who doesn’t deserve person B but I would love to explore how Person A might grow to deserve Person B.” Sometimes it means “I want these characters to live together forever in a conflict free domestic AU.” Sometimes it means “I want Person A to forever pine after Person B. Nothing is beautiful and everything hurts.” And sometimes it just means you like their faces and want to see Person A and Person B bone in various configurations and universes.

also if gnomes were all sitting around a small tree stump using it as a table and someone used the word "misnomer" one of them would speak up and go "HEEHEE. MISS GNOMER IS WHAT I CALL THE MISSUS" they'd all laugh so hard they fall off the mushrooms they are sitting on and spill the berry juice everywhere

My novel that I've been working on for the past three years : 80k, barely a wip, with missing scenes and a syntax so bad it could be a punishment in all the nine circles of hell
The fanfic I started writing four months ago : also 80k, published on Ao3, edited and beta read
My novel : are you fucking kidding me

A lot of people were saying that the description of this scene in that YGO poll by @rocketbirdie sounded like the Destiel meme, so I wanted to make a version of it with them
There's a blank version of it below, plus 2 versions I tried making using the manga

I’ve signed many a contract before, reading through its contents meticulously. I neglected to this time, my excitement too overwhelming.

I get to be more free as an adult than I ever did as a child and I think more kids need to know that. as a high schooler part of what made my depression so bad was being told over and over again that it was the most carefree time of my life. while I was trapped in an abusive home + amongst bullies at school + in a body that wasn’t right for me. opportunities to be carefree don’t end when you turn 18. you can be more you than ever as an adult and that’s such a gift. I know ‘it can get better’ is an annoying thing to see over and over when you’re as trapped as I was back then. and I know that if you’re still a kid you deserve to be free right this second. but it can and will get better and this is not where life stops being interesting. promise

Hey if you ever worry that your art is too self-indulgent and weird, consider the following:
You know Franciso de Goya? Yeah that Goya. The one who painted "saturn devouring his son" and the other 13 of what are called his "black paintings", which are dark, creepy, and while you might not know all the other ones, if you only vaguely recognise the name Goya, the first image to pop into your head is probably this one:

Unless you've got an art history degree. This post isn't aimed at people with an art history degree. Anyway, those of you who aren't into art history probably only vaguely know the story, of how he was a painter and these 14 were his private paintings, only painted for himself, not commissioned by a customer and never intended to be publicly displayed. People were shocked when they were first discovered, due to how starkly different they were from his other, more traditional and conventional paintings.
This is the part I want you to meditate on: Goya also made plenty of normal art for normal people. A whole bunch of perfectly normal paintings.
How many of those can you name?

There was this brief phase of twitter that I recall and might misremember, with western incel men having an active fight with young chinese women for some reason. The only thing I recall was how impressively brutal those ladies were at composing insults in a second language. Just saying shit like
"All that sperm inside your mother and what she got is you. She won reverse lottery."

Would be funny to make the most diy battle jacket of all diy jackets, with handmade band patches and pins you painted yourself, but all the bands in the patches are ones you made up. Like you specifically googled beforehand to make sure there is NO band or musician of that name, for every single one.
And any time someone asks you about them, you can start gushing like "oh my god you're the first person I've talked to who's even heard about them, are you a fan too? I fucked the drummer's dad once."
