Indefinite Haitus.

I've been neglecting this hobby - I wanted to come back so I could figure some things out characterisation-wise, but I've decided to just write solo. I want to be a professional at some point in my life, so I really need to actually make some stuff instead of just saying I will. Original stuff.

So, maybe I'll be back at some point for the fun of it, but for now this is goodbye again. Wish you all well!

Couple observations about dissociation. Nothing too dark.

Watching Interview with the Vampire (the show!)

Lestat describes his death looking directly at the camera. It's gruesome and I'd forgotten it.

I had flashbacks and I'm dissociating a bit

There's ways to do these scenes that are less triggering. We don't see it visually, good - but he is looking at the audience. The big one I've noticed is that, violence directed *at* the viewer. With comics too especially-

Lestat is just sitting. Why is that triggering. Graphic imagery for his death. I've got a good visual imagination - and I imagined it as him looking at the viewer too.

Not dissociating after typing that last part. I'm leaving this as it is - I can't think in full sentences when I dissociate. Perhaps rationalising brought me back.

Point I wanted to make: "triggers" aren't what neurotypicals think they are. It's always situational and it's details. I can stomach violence, graphic horror, rape topics - to an extent - but not always. It's the little things that build the picture and I wish media would prioritise that over drama. Lestat's intense gaze adds to the scene and the horror, his trauma shows in his eyes - but I'd find it easier to watch what happened if he looked away from the camera. Neurotypicals don't get that, it's not obvious, is it? We need better awareness of this stuff

I'm home from my holiday now, I'll be working on drafts here and there - I'll probably be a bit slow because I've got work and junk to do. This isn't a 'lite' hobby a lot of the time, haha!

so deadpool & wolverine was okay, but i don't really get the hype.

the dialogue was still hammed and the narrative still sloppy, even if it was a lot better than the last one i still feel it's lacking finesse.

this is why i keep saying legion is the only MCU Etc. thing that is worth bothering with, noah hawley is genuinely an intelligent writer and most of the fox & disney guys are hacks or 'just' junkfood good. even deadpool can have intelligent writing and I'm bored of superhero movies missing that, the comedy should be what gets you into the cinema not the entire point of the narrative.

don't get me wrong, there was a LOT of good stuff about it. i just won't be rushing to rewatch it. most of the MCU Etc, movies effect me like that.
