Did anyone else read the Inkheart Trilogy by Cornelia Funke when they were kids?

Cause I swear to god I just reread the entire trilogy (I first read it in grade six) and OMFG it was so freaking good I forgor how good it was it’s consuming my mind and my soul

Anyways I drew Roxane and Battista (the mask-maker guy who makes masks that didn’t really do anything but he was really cool so I drew him anyway)

Hoping that this reaches the very few ppl on tumblr who know abt this series because it is SERIOUSLY underrated

He doesn't know what else might be worth learning, anyway, if not how to keep oneself alive as long as possible?

Basta kicks open the door and locks it carefully after himself and Rosanna. One can never be too cautious, even in a town like Capricorn's. Or especially in a town like Capricorn's, where enemies are only to be feared from within, not from without. He doesn't want to come home to the place ransacked or poison slipped in his drink by one of the men envious of his position.

He decides to take Rosanna on the most circumspect route possible, just to see if he can make her little feet tired and wear her out enough to keep her docile.

Rosanna bites back an argument about how he told her to sit. It doesn’t seem smart to anger an already angry, dangerous man. She had learned that much from the stories. Best to do as they say until she has her own daring plan of escape, which for now, is just waiting for her father to return. It’s not like she can go anywhere else without him, after all. She doesn’t even want to.

The child hops down from the chair and jogs after Basta towards the door, arriving after her does but not so long after that she feels any need to worry about it.

“Is it a far walk?” she asks as she takes a place at his side. “Or do you live very close to your witch?”

"No. I can't."

Dustfinger's tone is finally firm, though he slightly regrets it the moment the words are out of his mouth.

He sighs heavily and passes a weary hand across his face.

"Go and ask him, then. See what he says."

He really doesn't want to be the bad guy here. But Rosanna has to realize the reality of the situation sooner or later. As much as he wants her to be excited to come with him, he's not really asking. She's his daughter; she will go with him wherever he goes, as she should.

“I like my house,” she mutters as if this is the argument that will change everyone’s minds. “I like my books.”

That strange, unfamiliar fear rises up in her again. It’s stronger than anything she remembers knowing, churning uncomfortably in her belly. Her heart races like she’d just been running and playing outside with Meggie, with her sister.

“I don’t want to leave. I just want you to stay here, okay? It doesn’t matter who’s my father. We can all just stay here.”

How did Basta learn to drive? Did Fulvio teach him? I wonder how his driving skills are like. Flatnose is probably the worst of them all, but i feel like Basta is the kind of guy who lets out his anger while driving

Her burst of motion throws Dustfinger off of his steady creep toward her, and he flings the snow in her direction with no hope of actually hitting her, and takes off after her at a sprint, snarling with comical maniacality.

"You can't run from me, little hero!" he bawls after her in his best imitation of Pantalone from the Players' pantomimes.

“Yes, always!” she exclaims. “I’m very sure!”

But when she peeks her head out of her hiding place to throw her snowball his way, she gives a squeal of laughter, tossing it haphazardly before taking off in another direction.
