Leo Valdez x Daughter of apollo hcs?
Solangelo being overprotective older brothers and stalking their every move
⁺₊ ☀︎ ⋆⁺₊ Leo Valdez x daughter of Apollo reader Headcanons!
tags: fluff, apollo kid, healing powers obv
wc: 621
a/n: this is probably formatted atrociously but i whipped this up before work so don’t mind it :,( THANK YOU FOR THE PJO REQUEST BTW, i can’t wait to start writing actual fics. leo valdez first obviously… i never know how to really do headcanons so bare with me
☆ ⋆ ★
☆ Leo Valdez had an incredibly notorious reputation for being not so popular with the ladies as he claimed to be…
☆ You didn’t stray very far from this belief… that is until you had the chance of formally interacting with him
☆ I imagine after a game of Capture the Flag, he waltzed into your cabin with an injury
☆ You just happened to be the closest there, so you took up the task of healing him
☆ Immediately you noticed how clumsy he seemed to be around you, which you found weird
☆ He definitely awkwardly flirted with you, and the pick up lines were so atrocious you let out a laugh
☆ “You just laughed! I so made you laugh. So that means you like me right?” He teased.
☆ You tightly wrapped his injured arm and worked your healing magic
☆ He couldn’t help but gaze at your concentrated face as you worked, mesmerized by the way the sun shone through the cabin windows and onto your skin
☆ When you were done, you bid him a farewell, although he did a LOT of stalling
☆ With a good first impression of him, you seemed to notice strangely that he’d come in a lot more often for injuries that were very minor
☆ Forget about physical injuries… he’d come in just for minor things, whether it be a headache, stomachache, anything of that sort
☆ “I swear I have a temperature! Check me.” He’d bark at you, grabbing your hand and moving it to his skin
☆ You of course knew he wasn’t physically sick, but you couldn’t help but chuckle at his insistence
☆ You’d roll your eyes at him, “Just don’t overexert yourself and drink plenty of water and get enough sleep.”
☆ He frowned whenever you finished up a check-up, making more excuses for you to see him some other time
☆ He definitely acted casual around you outside of the Apollo cabin, coincidentally running into you during games or during dinner
☆ Made you laugh across the Dining Pavilion which made Will to suspiciously look between the two of you
☆ Will Solace knew right away that Leo was interested in you, more than the other girls, and that you were entertaining him back
☆ Nico and Will were hanging out in the Apollo cabin themselves when you were preparing to visit him for once at his cabin instead
☆ “You’re gonna get a weapon made? Sureee…” Will said suspiciously, to which Nico picked up on right away. You of course brushed them off…
☆ Not a big surprise when Leo nervously kissed you before you went on a quest
☆ You wanted to strangle him for pulling that act before you left for a few weeks, but you happily kissed back
☆ When you got back… things were awkward, but sweet
☆ He still made you laugh, you still made him feel loved and cared for, whether it was through your healing touch or your genuine care for him
☆ Also pretty sure you saw Nico and Will high five each other when you two kissed? Could’ve been bad timing
☆ You’re the first person to check up on him, naturally so with your nurturing personality
☆ He melts at your voice but tries to hide it, nodding and pretending he doesn’t care when you reprimand for not taking care of himself
☆ Kisses you gently on the forehead or grabs your hand to kiss which he uses to stop you from ranting at him about his health
☆ Kissing on the lips is still awkward and scary for him but he gets comfortable quick, and you don’t mind at all <3

I need headcanons w/ ganke like "being best friends". The reader is gn or female, please, and thank you very much❤
Platonic!Ganke x gn!reader ☆
tags: headcanons, first meeting
wc: 503
a/n: it's so awkward replying to reguests like half a year later... but enjoy cough cough
☆ ☆ ☆
Okay, first of all I just have to believe that Ganke is not a social guy, other than Miles, he doesn’t really put effort into meeting anyone new
So, most reasonably, you met him through Miles
You thought Ganke was pretty cold at first, since he never put too much energy into responding to you
Also attending Visions Academy, you came up with the genius idea of a study group, maybe just for you and Miles
But when you’d brought up the idea to study in his dorm, well Ganke was just a factor you had to include
When Miles introduced the two of you to each other, you didn’t have the best impression of Ganke
Yet Ganke had a good impression of you, he thought you were nice, but he definitely did not share this with Miles
He wasn’t too stoked about you getting comfortable on his lower bunk when you first hung out, but whatever
Miles was your savior when it came to conversation, he led most of the topics
You relied on him to break the silence, since Ganke didn’t seem like much of a talker
Things were going relatively well, until Miles gave you this, “uh oh,” look at Ganke and then at you
He got up, stumbling and stuttering, excusing himself as he shot Ganke a look
You were really confused at this, since Miles’ panic was sudden
And what was that weird look? He definitely didn’t want you to know something
You were okay with him leaving since he seemed to be in an emergency, until you glanced back at Ganke
Ganke
Miles ditched and had left you two together
You grimaced at this, clearing your throat, getting ready to try to strike up a conversation
Weirdly enough, Ganke offered you his bed as he grabbed a controller, loading up a game on his PS4
Sitting back on his bed, you felt awkward and stupid for not hitting it off with the guy
He glanced back at you and grabbed Miles’ controller, handing it to you
“He’s probably not coming back, you wanna play?” He said plainly
You were shocked at the opportunity, nodding
The two of you spent the rest of the day playing his various games, and unlike before, he seemed to be speaking to you way more, to which you happily replied
You guys seemed to joke around comfortably after the initial meeting
After that you visited their dorms to see Miles and Ganke, lounging with their company
Ganke always listened to you ramble about things, making sure to poke fun just a little which made you feel better
He definitely doesn’t remember important things when it comes to other people, but he remembers little things you’ve mentioned before, which confuses you
He’s happy to know someone like you and have you in his company whilst he studies, and after the two of you guys sit on his bunk bed and play games whilst debriefing of course
Miles is pleasantly surprised at the friendship

Pavitr x male! Spiderman! Reader
They meet through Gwen or Hobie and they click instantly! Their friendship blossoms and so does there feelings , then confessions and first kisses
Hopefully it isn’t too much and if it is you can shorten it to confessions and kisses :)
Thanks in advance! Have a good day and light or afternoon!!
(Summer Boredom) ☆ pavitr prabhakar x male!spiderman!reader ☆
tags: group hangout, sleepover, mutual crush, confession
wc: 3.9k
a/n: had to do this request first since there’s not a lot out there for male readers. sorry it’s incredibly late! thank you sm to my beta reader aster who literally whipped this out so fast. finals are over so i’m hoping to get into writing again and getting to requests eventually. i’m also interested in writing for pjo next because of the show (obviously), that’s all!
☆ ☆ ☆
It was summer break, and you lay on your bed bored. Two weeks into summer and you hadn’t done much crime-fighting or anything too exciting for that matter. You’d just finished your routine patrol of your city. You even took some time to do a little sightseeing, perched on the edge of the tallest building you could find, taking in the sight of your beautiful neighborhood.
Joining the Spidersociety had been awesome, and you’d loved meeting all of the other spider-variants, but now with not much activity going on with anomalies or villains, you were left to watch over your dimension. In absolute solitude. You sighed, missing being able to talk to other people about your hidden superhero identity.
You needed to hang out with the others, desperately. So, you initiated the conversation, typing in the group chat to get everyone’s attention in the hopes of meeting up later. A little chatting, crime-fighting, maybe a little sleepover after. You needed something. Anything. Socializing wasn’t always the easiest, but this strange little group of Spider-peopleall of you clicked with each other. Being spider-variants is the most unifying feature.
Hobie sat in your room and scrolled through his phone as well, tapping a rhythm onto his guitar across you. You smiled at him and glanced back down at your phone.
Miles and Gwen replied instantly.
“Sounds good!! B ther after fite (ㆀ˘・з・˘)”
“Miles! Stop fighting and texting!!” With an angry emoticon displayed on your screen.
You stifled a laugh at their responses, watching Gwen’s text appear. You sighed watching them text and banter amongst themselves. You lay on your bed, phone up in the air as you scanned across your screen. You wanted to hear from Pavitr in particular. Always wanting to hear from him and his dimension. You felt a twinge of pain in your heart, remembering that you didn’t even exist in his world, nor did he in yours.
“Hey, that sounds fun!!! I’ll be there as soon as I can, Auntie is mad at me for skipping breakfast… D:”
You typed back, finding yourself grinning at his little emoticon. “Ur Auntie is right, bring me something plz!”
“Of course! I hope you’re taking care of yourself. It’s important to stay happy and healthy, and surround yourself with lots of animals, especially dogs.”
“Pav wgatr u talk g anout?”
“^_^”
“Someone get this man away from the dogs and up in this DIMENSION.” Hobie quipped, looking up at you.
You lightly tapped on your arm, grasping onto your forearm as you smiled at your screen. Hobie scoffed at the sight of you from across the room, to which you looked over in mock offense.
“Oh my god! What?” You questioned.
His low voice chuckled at you, his fingers lightly strumming his metal guitar as he sat sprawled out in your spinning chair. He had taken his shoes off at the door and had made himself rather comfy in your room and in your universe.
His voice hung heavy with a teasing tone, “You seriously need to let him know, you know that right?” He mused, spinning lightly in his chair. You shot him a shocked look before closing your mouth and glancing at your phone, checking for an answer.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” You muttered, tightening the grip around your pillow as you lay flat on your bed.
Hobie scoffed at you, stopping in his tracks as he spun back around and tapped on the strings of his guitar, the music flying off of it in strange paper cut-out shapes of displayed sound. You stared at it in awe as Hobie’s dimension always had you wondering how different he was. He chuckled as he looked at you in your eyes.
“Don’t be such a downer yeah? He likes you. He’s curious about you.” He replied quickly.
“Yeah, but that’s just him.”
“Just trust me on this mkay?”
You sighed and sat up on your bed, stretching out. Your room was all set up for a fantastic hangout, and your parents were gone to not raise suspicion as to why you were talking to strangers in your room. You adjusted and picked up a few things as you waited for the others to arrive, with Hobie watching you with a close eye as he swiveled in the chair. Just as you were about to go and get some refreshments for your friends, a loud crash caught your attention. You opened your curtains and grinned as you saw Miles, Gwen, and Pavitr outside on your fire escape.
You ignored how Miles had fallen and was writhing in pain as he clutched his foot. Gwen was in the process of helping him up. Pavitr kindly knocked on your window with the back of his hand and waved at you. You quietly chuckled at the scene in front of you and opened the latch of your window to let them in. Pavitr took one last glance around and grasped at his mask, pulling it off. You felt thoughts bubble in your head as you saw his familiar face. His soft features never ceased to put you in a trance. Over his suit, he wore an oversized tee and his shorts.
Gwen’s laugh rang through your head as she entered first, the other two following in behind. They were also wearing their casual clothes over their suits, in preparation for the hangout. “Sorry we’re late, Pav insisted on petting some strays on the way here.” She said, walking in and observing your room with interest. “You redecorated huh?”
You shrugged as you glanced back at Pavitr closing your door with care. “Yeah, just a little.”
Hobie’s voice took your attention as he greeted Gwen and then Miles.
You cleared your throat in offense, getting them to greet you too as you dapped up Miles. Gwen didn’t understand your hand gestures, but she tried it anyway. “I think we should start this hangout off with, perhaps a movie. Any recommendations?” You scanned across their faces.
Miles hummed in thought and perked up, “Spiderman!”
Hobie eyed him, “Oi real creative yeah?”
“Do you even have Spiderman movies in your universe Miles?”
“Yeah of course.” He said proudly.
Pavitr shrugged as he adjusted to sit on the floor, crossing his legs. You sat on your bed near him, unable to ignore his presence. Gwen got situated on your bed as well as Miles remained standing, leaning against your desk.
“Well, I guess so.” You shrugged, “You guys want to watch Andrew Garfield, Toby Maguire, or Tom Holland Spiderman?”
Pavitr looked up at you in confusion, “Is Andrew Garfield the cat who eats lasagna?”
You laughed, “Not quite.”
“You pick! But I’ve never heard of any of those actors before. Might be interesting to see how your movies are in your dimension.”
“I’m gonna go grab some drinks and snacks, can one of you guys set up the movie from my phone?”
Miles pitched in, “I got it.” Opening up his hands to catch your phone as you threw it to him.
Pavitr raised his hand as he got up onto his feet, “I’ll help you.”
He waltzed past by and walked ahead of you into your kitchen. Hobie eyed you and mouthed something and you already knew what he was implying. You left the room quickly, ruffling your hair in annoyance as you followed behind Pavitr. He hummed in thought as he looked around your kitchen.
“Sorry about the mess, I had to make lunch earlier.” You explained, rubbing the back of your neck.
“Oh don’t worry, I don’t mind.” He replied, glancing up at you, “Actually, I can help with your dishes.”
You chuckled at his offer and nodded, mouthing a thanks. The cups in your cupboards seemed to comically color code themselves as you reached in. You set five mugs down on the dining table and decided that with the winter air, tea wouldn’t be so bad for you and your friends. It would help everyone unwind and relax.
“Sorry.” You muttered as you walked past Pav to reach up into the pantry with all the tea. They were unconventionally stored to your dismay. Beside you, Pavitr quietly scrubbed at some stray dishes in your sink. Silence resided over you two as you grabbed the case of tea bags.
“Think English Breakfast will be okay for everyone?” You commented, holding the tea box in your hand. He hummed beside you, “Tea’s always good.”
“I guess I should’ve asked what everyone liked.” You mumbled, seeing an array of teas up on the pantry shelf.
“It’s been a while since we’ve hung out. It’s nice. Thank you for inviting me, I missed seeing you at headquarters.”
His voice filled your head as you opened the case of tea.
“You missed me?” You lightly chuckled, amused at the thought. “It’s only been a few weeks since I’ve dropped by.”
Glancing over at Pavitr, you caught him biting his lip as he glued his eyes onto the task at hand. He held a bashful expression that you memorized. You caught his gaze as you froze. He looked at you with what seemed to be embarrassment. This had you speaking before you could even register what you were promising.
“I’ll… stop by more often.”
A weird air passed between the two of you as he broke eye contact first, clearing his throat as he scrubbed harder at the plate in his hand. You went blank as you continued to place the teabags into the mugs, adding small spoonfuls of sugar into each cup. Pavitr finished up behind you as you heard the faucet turn off. You heard him shuffling in the kitchen as he placed the dishes on the drying rack.
He hummed as you felt his skin graze yours, your shoulders touching as he looked at what you were doing. “You have cute cups,” He said with a smile. “Reminds me of the ones I have.”
You felt your skin flush where he was pressed up against it. You tried your hardest not to look up at him right now. You were afraid your heart would drop at how close he was. “Yeah?”
It was pretty obvious Pavitr was looking at you from the side. But you didn’t realize how closely he was observing your every feature. He just naturally felt drawn to observing you, it wasn’t something he could help. He wondered if you’d start visiting headquarters again. It was embarrassing how much he thought of you in his dimension.
Without much thought, except his instinct to touch your skin, he spoke in a hushed voice. “You have an eyelash,” You felt him trap your body as he propped himself up by placing an arm on the counter. You turned to face him in shock at what was happening, as you felt his warm skin encase your cheek. He ran his thumb over your cheek as the two of you held your breath. Pavitr looked into your familiar eyes and searched for an answer, a sign that you wanted him as much as he wanted you. But Pavitr had already brushed the lash off and now wasn’t the time.
It was dangerous for him to be with you alone.
He cleared his throat and casually rubbed your cheek again. “Got it.”
It was unbelievable how much charm that boy had when it came to you. He casually walked off and grabbed a spoon, pouring hot water into the cups beside you. Being pulled out of that moment gave you physical repercussions, as you felt your stomach turn at his touch. Whatever had just happened made your mind explode with possibilities. The two of you finished prepping the tea without another word and took as many mugs and snacks as you could, returning to the others.
You pushed past the door as you held your mugs, and Pavitr was beside you with mugs and a bag of chips in his arms. “Here’s tea for everyone.”
Gwen thanked you softly as she took the pink mug. Gwen and Miles had gone and changed into their pajamas. You figured you’d encourage Pav to change and get comfortable as well. You hadn’t even thought of the sleeping arrangement but that was a later decision. Miles had already let you know he’d have to leave for the night since he was grounded again for some back talk to his parents.
She shared a curious look with you, the two of you speaking without words as she glanced back at Pavitr who now stood next to Hobie as he set the snacks down on your desk. You flashed a small panicked look at her before standing up to not look suspicious. You gave Miles his yellow mug, and Hobie his blue mug. Pavitr held his mug in his hands and took a sip, humming in satisfaction. Gwen took your pillow and hugged it as she looked towards Miles who was now connecting your phone to the small projector you had. He let out a triumphant noise as he finally navigated your phone, and adjusted the volume.
Hobie moved to sit on the floor next to Pavitr, and Miles next to Gwen. This made you move a bit up to get comfortable as you sat on the end of your bed. But with Pavitr sitting on the floor in front of you, you didn’t mind. You lay on your stomach again, placing your arms under your chin as your head was near Pavitr’s. As Miles pressed play on your phone, the five of you began your movie marathon.
☆ ☆ ☆
The night was incredibly uneventful, as most of you became tired quickly, opting to pass out before midnight. It made sense really, with everyone balancing their lives as a hero with their personal lives. The lull of the movies on the projector eventually compelled everyone to call it a night and situate themselves for sleep.
In front of you, Pavitr heavily yawned. Along with Hobie who had somehow dozed off with his hand in the bowl of popcorn. You laughed at the sight of him and asked Pavitr to wake him up. The others didn’t hang out in your dimension that often, so you had to formulate a sleeping situation. Miles was yawning actively as he threw on his suit and mask, getting ready to go home.
“I’ll see you guys later, thanks for the movies!” He spoke out after quickly saying goodbye to everyone. He sat at your windowsill before thwippingto a rooftop and disappearing with a bright portal flashing in the night sky.
Now it was just the four of you occupying your living room. You got up and left the room with Gwen discussing how strange it was to see Spidermen depicted in your universe. Hobie shot back that Andrew Garfield was his favorite Spiderman. You chuckled and brought out sleeping bags and blankets to create a small makeshift bed in your living room. The others held pillows from your room to use and began getting ready to sleep. Hobie instantly called dibs on your small couch, even though he was the tallest. And Gwen opted for the longer couch. This left you and Pav to share the bed, which you figured Hobie and Gwen had planned discreetly.
You sighed as you fluffed up your pillow next to Pavitr who was stretching out and yawning. He glanced over at you, “You okay? I promise I don’t snore. At least I don’t think so…” He trailed off. You smiled at this and got situated in the dark next to him, “It’s nothing. Just wiped out.” You lied.
He hummed in reply and stiffly laid down in the bed next to you. You couldn’t hear Gwen and Hobie speaking anymore, since they had complained about how it was too late for them to stay up any longer. You kept your voice quiet as you turned over to Pavitr, “Let me know if I accidentally hog the blanket, I have an issue with that.”
He kept his voice low too, “Okay. Night.” He said, lying when he cut the conversation short. He had wanted to talk to you more, but he also didn’t mind sharing this peaceful moment with you. He kept far in order to respect your boundaries, as he didn’t want to make you uncomfortable. You breathed deeply as you looked up at the ceiling, aware of how close you guys were. It was hard to relax, but your eyes eventually closed as fatigue set into your body.
☆ ☆ ☆
The next morning, you were woken up by Gwen putting on her shoes and talking to Hobie quietly. You groaned slightly and rose, looking up at them. You spoke through your raspy morning voice, “You guys leaving?”
Gwen turned to you and nodded, “Yeah we have to go see Miguel on some business. Thanks for having us.” She glanced at Pavitr beside you.
Hobie adjusted his guitar onto his back, “Let Pav know we said bye.”
You nodded at this and mouthed a goodbye as they left into your room and probably out. Your parents would most likely arrive in a few hours, so you had to get up and get ready to clean your home and get rid of any evidence of people crashing here. You glanced over at Pavitr beside you, who strangely slept with the blanket covering most of his face. His black hair poked out from under the blanket as his body rose with each breath he took. You were sorry for breaking his sleep.
“Pav.” You spoke out softly, reaching a hand over to shake him awake, “It’s time to go.”
He tiredly opened his eyes under the covers as your raspy voice filled his ears. He dragged the blanket down slightly to look at you, mumbling. You laughed at his fatigued state and ushered him to get up. You yawned and walked into the kitchen, deciding to maybe prepare some quick breakfast for the two of you before you sent him off. Pavitr somehow had managed to spring out of bed with twice the energy you lacked in the mornings.
“Are you good with pancakes?” You spoke out as he sat at your dining table.
“You’re making breakfast?” He questioned, rubbing the last of his sleep out of his eyes.
You glanced back at him as he stretched, trying to ignore the fact that it was just the two of you again. You nodded, pouring the pancake mix onto the pan as you slowly cooked them. Standing with your hand on your hip as you waited for the pancakes to cook.
“You know, I like seeing you for this long.” Pav started, absentmindedly tapping on his mug from yesterday, “I mean…” He seemed to be in careful thought.
The pancakes sizzled behind you as you turned to look as you spoke.
Pavitr glanced at his side before managing to meet your eyes. He noticed how nervous you were too whenever he decided to speak out like this, and he hoped that it all meant you somehow managed to like him back. “You… your company, I like having it. I think you’re one of the coolest guys I’ve ever met and…” His words fizzled out in his throat as you looked away, scratching the back of your neck. You set your spatula down and grasped the counter to ground yourself, speaking before Pavitr would think that you’d shot him down.
“Pav.” You said, voice cracking embarrassingly drawing attention to your nervous demeanor.
He looked up at you, curious of what you were gonna say.
“I, I like you.” You said out loud with guilt. The heartbeat in your chest pounded, threatening to explode as blood rushed through your ears. This confession was practically making you nauseous, but you couldn’t bear to be selfish and take Pavitr’s kindness for romantic interest. He was always nice, that’s just who he was.
Across the kitchen, Pavitr held onto his mug tightly, processing what you’d said for a quick moment, before replying in a heartbeat.
“I like you too.”
Behind you, the faint smell of burnt pancakes snapped you back into reality and out of your worry. You panickedly scraped at the pancake, trying to get it off of the pan. Pavitr nervously looked at you as you momentarily attended to the task, patiently waiting for a resolution. You took the pan off of the stove and took a shaky breath.
“So, so that’s good.” You spoke out shakily.
“I want to be your boyfriend, and I want you to be mine.” He replied instantly, looking up at you expectedly, which made you almost choke on your spit. You felt very weak at this sequence of events.
“I’d like that.” You muttered, handing him his plate of non-burnt pancakes with a fork. You flushed as he beamed at you from across the table. He was happy that you’d somehow read his mind and had spoken up about your interest in him. Pavitr felt like he could happily return to his dimension without worry now. Expecting to share a lot more moments and firsts with you from now on.
You chewed on your pancake and glanced up at him as you flushed, “You’re staring.”
He laughed and filled your stomach with butterflies, just as he always did. “I just like looking at you.”
You groaned and lightly kicked him under the table. He happily ate the pancakes you served and offered to take the dishes to clean them again while you cleaned up the living room. Your heart pounded as you repeated that moment over and over in your head. So maybe Hobie was right, whatever. And speaking of Hobie, you’d have to tell him right away. You shot him a quick text, waiting for his response of, “I told you so.”
It was now time for you two to separate, as you collected Pavitr’s stuff from your room and folded it neatly for him to take. His eyes always seemed to find yours without failnow, and he shot you his golden smile, as he always did. He sat at your window sill in his suit and his mask as you stood out like a sore thumb, feeling less cool out of your suit. Pavitr waited for you to say goodbye before he left, letting light shine around his body. You could never get enough of him.
“I guess you have to go now, huh.” You muttered, feeling disappointed. He sadly nodded at you, taking one last look around your room, and then at you. Pavitr wanted to say something, as he lifted his shoulders and slouched as he mumbled in thought. Eventually, he looked at you with that endearing gaze and pulled his mask down.
“Is it okay, if I can ask for a goodbye kiss…?” He said innocently. You tried not to let your smile show too much as you stiffened up and nodded. He nervously smiled at you with his mask held in his hand. You walked up to him in the window, and he wrapped his arm around your torso as you shared a chaste kiss. It was quick, and Pavitr didn’t seem satisfied with that, as he brought his other hand to the side of your neck, pulling you in for a longer and deeper kiss. It was nerve-wracking, but it was sweet and vulnerable.
He grinned and giggled as the two of you separated, pulling his mask over his head as he readied his bracelets to swing. You blushed at the tingling sensation in your lips and your fingertips and spoke out with excitement.
“I’ll see you later Pav.”
He lightly laughed under his mask as he waved goodbye to you, “See you tomorrow.”

✰✰✰
The blaring of the sirens boomed throughout the crowded street, as people pushed past each other through the crowd to get to the scene.
As the police officers investigated the scene riddled with debris and leftover web-fluid, they scoffed at the work of the infamous Ghost-Spider, the hero responsible for the mess of the crime-scene. The dark indigo sky was illuminated by the blinding light of helicopters that had arrived to get their next headline.
As they flew above noisily, the hidden figure grinned to herself under her mask.
The villain hung above the street, pathetically struggling in defiance as it wriggled in the meticulously weaved webs. The officers peered up high above, staring down at the chaos that was once called a city. They sighed as they were left to deal with untangling and locking up New York’s newest villain of the week.
He’d caused a lot of destruction, which would take thousands of dollars to fix. It was evident by the collapsed buildings and the rubble that practically covered every square inch in sight. The vague smell of smoke filled the air.
The masked hero took a breath of relief, finally deciding her work was done, and allowing herself to slip away from the scene. Staggering into the alleyway and wincing as she practically dragged her body up the fire exits. Taking a few deep breaths to prepare herself for the journey home, her feet dangled off the edge of the building. She raised her sore arm, aiming for the edge of the building adjacent. A tired web connected to the rain gutter, squeaking under her weight as she hurled herself into the night sky.
Her dad would be coming home soon, exhausted and upset. Since Peter’s death, it’s been difficult to keep her identity from her dad. To be on such different sides, she felt like she was betraying her father by lying to his face. But at the same time, she knew she did nothing wrong.
She didn’t know it was Peter.
It didn’t matter now, there was no use in dwelling on something she couldn’t fix. She just wanted to head home after that draining fight, kick back, and relax. It wasn't always easy being a superhero, y’know?
It was so exhausting to just get up. Again and again, it was always the same. Get up after being thrown down, no matter what happened, that was what was expected of a superhero. Anyone would crack under the pressure.
Gwen almost passed her apartment window while being lost in thought, taking an abrupt turn to latch onto the wall with some focus. She crawled along the red brick, clothed by the shadows created by the dark sky. She stuck the tips of her fingers onto the glass, pulled up, and crawled inside. She took a momentary seat on the seat of her drumset, pulling down her mask to finally get a breath of fresh air.
She rests there for a few seconds before remembering the entire reason she was hurrying home. She needed to hide her suit before her dad arrived, she had no time to rest.
Gwen let out a wince as she put all of her weight back onto her aching feet. She stumbled to her bed before sitting down and grabbing a particular hoodie she liked. The hoodie engulfed her torso in it as she carefully put it on, blinding pain shooting through her side. She hissed, scrunching her nose at the feeling. Leaning over to her bed further, she grabbed a pair of sweatpants, slipping it on quickly as she suddenly heard the door knob from the living room.
Cursing under her breath, Gwen checked to make sure that her hoodie would hide the collar of her suit. She walked up to her vanity mirror, leaning on it to keep her up as she checked hastily for any damage. A busted lip and a scratch on her cheek. Ouch. Cursing once more to herself, she pushed her hair forward to cover the scratch on her cheek, grabbing her phone to not look suspicious.
Loud and booming footsteps of someone approaching her door was heard as Gwen steadied her breathing. She nonchalantly peered down at her phone, opening it up and staring at the home screen. Her dad knocked on her door frame, slowly pushing past as the door creaked. Gwen hit the off button on the side, placing it down on her vanity to look up at her Dad.
“Oh, hey dad.” She said, continuing to lean against the piece of furniture for support .
He looked tired. His shoulders were stiff and his voice was devoid of energy.
“Hey kid. Sorry I’m late, did you get something to eat?”
Gwen cleared her throat before nodding. She didn’t, but it’s not like she had time to. There was too much to do today, she just didn’t have time between balancing her normal life and her heroic title.
Fidgeting with a lock of her hair, Gwen straightened her back out and tried her best to walk like she wasn’t experiencing the most harsh and the worst pain of her life. She walked over to sit down on her bed carefully, cautious to conceal the cut on her cheek.
Gwen’s gaze wandered up to meet her Dads’ in the eyes when he didn’t say anything else. Her Dad looked like he saw through everything, like he longed to say more, call her out, but he didn’t. That’s just what their relationship had been since Peter’s passing. Just silence, or casualties, and the two of them never really getting to say what they truly wanted to.
Gwen gives him a slight smile. “Well, I think I’m just gonna go to bed.” She looks back down at the ground.
She feels her Dad hesitate, before giving up and nodding. He sighs tiredly, “Right.”
He cleared his throat, stuffing one of his hands into the pocket of his jacket, and turning to walk away. He stops in his tracks, looking over his shoulder, and speaking with affection.
“Night kiddo.”
Gwen shifts her gaze up to meet his eyes and nods.
The door clicks shut and Gwen is left in her dark room. The only thing illuminating her space was the city lights from the window and the small lamp on her dresser. She sighed, holding her head in her hands. Gwen felt the cut on her cheek tingle with pain, deciding that it was about time to disinfect it. She didn’t want to risk the infection, especially if it would end her up in the hospital. That would cause scene with her Dad.
Gwen sucked in her breath as she got off of her bed to crouch down, reaching for the first aid kit. She stood up, all sorts of joints cracking as she straightened herself out. It hurt to take her hoodie off, her muscles screamed for rest as she cussed under her breath at the effort that took.
She held the piece of clothing in her hand for a moment, gazing down at it with silence. The fabric only reminded her of September. When was the last time she’d seen you? It was her favorite thing to wear when it was cold, yet it had been a couple of weeks since she’d even held the thing. Things had been a bit busy lately, hadn’t they?
Her heart laid heavy in her chest.
She shook it off, peeling back the arms of her suit. Her skin was slightly damp with sweat as she slipped the suit down to reveal her torso. Lo and behold, the reason for her aching muscles and sore body. Instantly she flinched at the sight of it, even in the dark lighting, she could tell it was worse than all of her prior injuries.
A menagerie of dark purple bruising with dull. And by the look of it, it was clearly going to hurt even more tomorrow. She’d been throw into concrete buildings, pushed, punched, and even slipped from her own fatigue nearing the end of the fight. How could she have been so reckless? The adrenaline must’ve done most of the work in dulling her pain at the time, but if she knew that she was being messed up this bad underneath, she would’ve stopped trying to do risky moves.
Luckily, there wasn’t much bleeding, that would have been way worse. Sighing in exhaustion, Gwen grabbed some pain medication she had on her nightstand. Sleeping would be like hell tonight, she wanted to cry at the thought. The frustration of going through this situation again and again, all without any help or even a thank you from the very same people she was saving.
Alone. Gwen felt alone, something she was kind of getting used to since picking up the mask.
Tearing up, she bit her lip to quiet down the frustration she felt. Letting her hand fall down to her side. She didn’t want to deal with this, the hurting, being alone at school, being alone at home. She hated all of it. Usually this job was never that bad, she just had to look at the positive side. She got to swing around, save people, make the city she lived a little safer for everyone. But the physical and mental pain she felt on a daily basis made it hard to not get sad or frustrated.
At the end of her bed, a buzz was heard, followed by the room lighting up from her phone screen. Puffy eyes diverting to behind her, she reached towards it, reading the notification badge to see who it was from.
It was a text from you.
This late though?
She curiously stared down at the phone held in her hand, wondering if she wanted to reply right now or not. Hesitantly, she opened the message, to be greeted with a warm text.
“Sardine says hi!” Followed by an attached photo of you, seated at your desk and smiling at the small gray cat seated at your lap. Sardine, the little stray Gwen had rescued from a tree three months ago. She couldn’t keep it, so when you’d heard of her situation, you offered to take it in right away.
Gwen slightly smiled to herself at the photo, acknowledging that you were reaching out to her. Was it weird that you were in the first place?
No. Not at all really. You two were past the title of acquaintances. You considered Gwen a close friend, but did she for you? Originally, she’d met you through Betty. She hadn’t seen you since the last rehearsal.
And aside from group hangouts or song rehearsals, you two hadn’t really spoken. That was until a month ago, when you’d caught Gwen at an oh so terrible time. She’d slipped into her costume last minute long after rehearsal to stop a robbery three blocks away, and you’d forgotten your phone in the building. Mask held tightly in her hand, Gwen stood like a deer in headlights at the sight of you.
Getting over the initial shock, you promised to keep her secret hidden, telling her countless times you wouldn’t expose her. She’d glanced at you one last time with regret before swinging to higher buildings. The fact that Gwen Stacy, from your friends band, was the Ghost-Spider. Maybe it made you want to get to know her more just a little bit.
You leaned back in your chair, grinning at the photo you’d sent Gwen. It took a lot of thinking to text her. Two weeks ago, Gwen had an outburst during rehearsal. From the other girls perspective’s anyway.
But you, knowing that she was quite literally a superhero, figured stress had likely got to her. Gwen had walked out, you looked towards the other girls, and nobody was following her.
You excused yourself, standing up from the floor and flinging your bag over your shoulder. The door slammed behind you as you jogged to catch up to Gwen.
She’d said some hurtful things that day. You couldn’t deny that. But who were you to judge? All you could sense was her frustration and pent up emotions.
So Gwen left. And you figured she didn’t want to be followed.
Days and days went by. Even in school you never saw Gwen. A week’s notice until she finally returned to her classes. You’d pass her in the halls, trying to catch her and strike up a conversation.
But her dismissal and avoidance—well it didn’t keep you too eager to keep trying. It hurts, It hurts to go a long amount of time without seeing a person you’d spent almost everyday with. You really, really wanted to talk to her again.
So, one weekend, you’d mustered up the courage to speak to her again.
Your eyes shot down to the message on your phone.
“Give her a kiss for me.”
Your eyes widened at the quick response as you panickedly hurried to hit the letters on your screen.
“Do it yourself!”
You stared curiously as you saw her typing appear and disappear over and over.
“Can I come over?”
You sat up right away. She wanted to hang out? At midnight, it was weird. Really weird, and really risky. Eyeing your door, you stand up quietly and crank your door open to carefully catch anyone up. Your family was fast asleep. Would they really mind if you snuck a girl in?
Right.
“Sure, just go through the window… the family's asleep.”
Thumbs up.
Gwen gave her phone one last glance, solidifying the fact that she’d asked that stupid question. To her surprise, you’d actually said yes. It’d been a while since her argument with you, and she didn’t know if it was really appropriate to visit you on such short notice. She didn’t want to bother you. But also, if she stayed in her room for any longer, stuck and surrounded by bad memories—she would go insane.
She whispered to herself out loud as she pulled her suit back on, flinching at the aching sensation that riddled her torso. Ignoring the soft hum and voice coming from the TV in the other room, Gwen peeked outside her door to confirm that her Dad had fallen asleep.
He was passed out on the couch, most likely from exhaustion. Gwen muttered an apology and shut her door, pulling her hood up and taking a deep breath as she pushed past her initial pain.
She shut the window behind her as she threw on her mask and web shooters.
✰✰✰
You had a lot to do before Gwen arrived.
As of late, you’d let yourself go a little. With exam season just around the corner, it was easy to ignore and put aside the clutter on your desk and the pile of clothes on the floor. You checked the time panickedly as you finished stuffing the last handful of clothes into your closet. Quietly, you ran back and forth around your house, prepping some popcorn and heating up leftovers.
This was basically a sleepover, at least you assumed it was. What else would the two of you really do anyways?
Having finished your horrible last minute clean, your room looked well and presentable to your standards. Now it was just time to wait. Grabbing at your phone, you plopped onto your bed and laid on your stomach, deciding to mindlessly scroll through social media.
To your surprise, another incident with an escapee villain had occurred a while ago. Figures. You wondered if one of these days, you’d ever have to come in contact with any of those crazed lunatics.
It scared you. Your friends, your family, nobody was really safe.
Your mind flashed to Gwen, the familiar persona coming up on your screen as you watched the little snippet of an action-packed fight between Ghost-Spider and the brute guy who’d managed to cause so much damage in that neighborhood. The video was taken pretty awfully, with the screen panning to the streets, trying to focus and zoom in on the white-suited figure who projected herself flawlessly and rather gracefully in the fight.
You stared in awe. She looked unbelievable in action.
The little sequence of taps at the glass behind you made you jump out of your skin. You yelped, nearly dropping your phone out of your hands. Embarrassed, you sat up and turned around, catching the familiar mask off of the screen you’d just been so entranced in.
Gwen seemed to chuckle across the glass, although her voice was muffled. She seemed to flinch at the act, hunching over and steadying herself on your window. This worried you a lot, did she hurt herself?
You quickly put your phone down and ran up to your window, rushing to unlock it and crank it open. It was hard to see through the dark sky, but from the dim ambient lights coming from your room, your eyes caught the flash of red stain on her suit.
A nervous knot twisted in your stomach as you gently grabbed onto her shoulder. She hunched over momentarily, regaining her senses as she held onto your shoulder.
“Hey. You- you stalkin’ me?” She remarked, grin under her mask. Gwen stood back up as she successfully, and painfully, slung her legs over your window sill. Expecting a snarky remark back, Gwen’s breath hitched as she saw your expression.
Absolute fear and sadness painted your face.
Gwen’s humorous approach died in her throat instantly. She stood up a little straighter, her figure nearly leaning against yours. All the wrong signals went off in her brain. You opened your mouth to speak, unable to overcome the lump in your throat. Gwen’s eyes grew wide at you, unsure of how to comfort you in a moment like this.
Clenching your eyes, you took a deep breath, and moved to her side, slinging an arm over your shoulder. You were just talking to her fifteen minutes ago. And she wasn’t okay then. Feeling Gwen lean her weight into your body, you settled her carefully onto your bed, watching as she hissed and clutched her side.
A sense of hurt wavered through your body as you gazed at Gwen in her seated and hunched over position.
It was clear that she was in some level of pain you couldn’t possibly fathom, and yet she was trying to play it off, grinning at you through her gritted teeth. You mumbled a small ‘be back’ and left quickly, closing the door behind you.
Walking into your bathroom and opening the medicine cabinet to grab the first aid kit, you steadied yourself and took a deep breath. You’d never seen that much blood on her before. How was it that your friend was the violently injured one, and yet you were the one comforting yourself? You stood there for a few minutes.
Gwen perked up quickly from spacing out when you quietly pushed through the door. Gently closing the door behind you, Gwen eyed the first aid kit. This part would hurt and she knew it. Now it was your turn to ease the mood, especially after that short intermission.
“Scared? You know this isn’t that bad compared to how you left the other guy.” You chided, half-smiling at her.
“Hah, I guess you’re right.”
Gwen didn’t express it that much, but you knew she felt bashful about that. Reaching up to her face, she grasped her mask off, and held it tightly in her hand. You thought over what to do next.
“Need help?”
Gwen turned to you and eyed you up and down teasingly.
“What, you wanna undress me?”
“Oh my god.” You grabbed and chucked the nearest t-shirt off of your chair at her face, finding the comment uncalled for compared to the severity of the situation. Gwen laughed hard at your response as she grabbed the shirt, only forcing her amusement to die down at her wound. You grumbled and scrounged your closet for a pair of pajama pants.
She grinned at you through a pained expression.
“I can do this much on my own, thanks.”
You nodded quietly. Turning around and standing rather stiffly for your liking. The decorations on your wall and desk seemed very striking as you waited for confirmation that she was done changing. With a few curses behind you, Gwen finished changing into her new outfit.
“Done…?”
“Yeah, thanks for the privacy.”
“No problem.” You cleared your throat.
With a normal outfit on, it’d be much easier to access her injuries. You approached Gwen and kneeled down, grabbing the kit from your bed covers and taking out icy-hot and some bandages. The girl above you watched carefully as you got out the supplies.
You shifted your gaze up and shot her a look.
She opened her mouth to say something, but nothing came out.
Understanding the severity of her injuries, she clenched her eyes and partially lifted up her baggy t-shirt. You winced at an array of deep, dark purple bruises, they were splattered all around her torso. The marks looked like they hurt, but they didn’t look like they were swelling. Gwen can only thank herself that she wouldn’t need to go and see the doctor for a broken blood vessel.
“Listen, do we really have to do this? Cause, I can really just slap a bandaid on this and sleep the pain off you know…!”
You squinted at her, “Gwen.”
“What? Is that so unreasonable?”
“I’ll be careful, don’t worry.”
Gwen frowned at you, she was most likely arguing with herself as she carefully composed herself. Gazing at you through the blonde and pink hair that had grown down longer since the last time you’d seen her, she nodded.
“But you might want to bite down on something since my family is asleep.”
Gwen’s brow furrowed.
You grabbed the icy-hot, putting some on your hands and rubbing it around in your palms. You felt Gwen’s eyes on you as you carefully applied it onto her torso. Continuing to hold her shirt up, she grabbed her mask and clamped down, a shiver running down her back as she gently held your wrist at the pain.
Anticipating eyes looked down on you as you lightly massaged the gel into her skin. You wanted to be careful and you didn’t want to hurt her, but you accidently took a sharp movement, jabbing a finger into a bruise. She gripped the covers below her, flinching at the harsh sensation at her skin. Gwen hissed into the mask, and you profusely apologized under your breath. You moved hastily to try and finish before you could mess up like that again.
“I’m almost done, just hold on.”
Gwen nodded from what you could tell. You didn’t really want to see her pained expression at the moment. Not to mention swallowing down the deep fear you’d felt at her entrance. Suddenly her shared secret identity didn’t feel like such a positive or cool thing between the two of you.
But her fight today did bring her to you.
“What happened to you’d be careful?” She quietly quipped.
Putting the cap back on the tube, you grabbed a bundle of bandages, extending it out as you held it up to Gwen’s pale skin. You wrapped your arms around her torso, traveling the bandages over her wound slowly.
“Sorry… Is it, is it too tight?” You muttered.
She stiffened at your arms around you, stumbling over her words.
“Uh, too tight, not- no. Not too tight.”
“Good…” The bandages were secure as you tucked it in. Gwen wavered above you, dropping her shirt down.
Finally, you pulled your hand away from the bruises, “Does it still hurt too bad? You should’ve come over quicker. And why didn’t you patch this up sooner?” Gwen looked down at you through her hair, with a bit of curiosity. She stared at you as you rambled, not having the chance to speak through your words.
“You know how bad these bad bruises can be…? And it’s not like you can go to the hospital, especially with your dad,” that lump formed in your throat again as your brain raced faster than you could express, “and, and, god. What if this ended up worse? One bursted blood vessel and you-!”
“Whoa, hey.”
You blinked the water out of your eyes, shakily breathing as Gwen reached out and took your hand holding the rag. She panicked at you. You covered your face with your other hand, embarrassed at the fact that you were actually crying in front of your crush. You felt your face heat up as hot tears welled in your eyes.
“Come on, what’s wrong? You hate seeing me again that much?” She blurted out, a weak attempt to reassure you.
You inhaled sharply, “I can’t believe that, that the first time you talk to me in months, you show up like… like this.”
She gazed at you softly as you spoke. She’d never seen you like this.
“Well, better now then ever? I, I really wanted to be lectured by you again I guess. You keep me in line after all.” She said quietly, moving her hand down from your wrist to your hand.
You let out a half-hearted laugh, aimlessly wiping at your face. Her cold skin against your hand comforted you, even though you probably should’ve been comforting her. Gwen always had an awkward air to her when it came to sensitive subjects like these, until her bottled emotions blew up. She paid all of her attention to you as you stood up and sat down next to her, the weight shifting the bed below you two.
Gwen stood still as she felt your arms tightly link over her shoulders, her arm hesitantly snaking over your back. You held her in relief.
“I’m glad you’re okay. Sorry for freaking out on you like that.”
“No, don’t be sorry. I’m sorry for making you worry like that. I’ll be more careful next time, promise.”
Gwen knew her survival was never guaranteed. And you knew it too.
“I know you will.”
“So…” She muttered, leaning back against your bedroom wall, crossing her legs on your covers. You grabbed your nearest stuffed animal, hugging it close to your chest as you sat next to Gwen. It was hard to see through the room, but your little night light offered some, just enough to barely sense what was in front of you.
“So.” You offered.
“Your room is different.”
“Oh, yeah it is, I guess.” You sniffled.
Gwen glanced at your face next to her as you mindlessly played with your hair in the dark.
The earlier conversation you’d shared with Gwen over the phone made you perk up, something to fill the silence. You never wanted to cry like that in front of her again, you felt embarrassed. “I have to show you Sardine later! Remind me.”
Gwen’s lip twitched into a small smile. “You think she’s forgotten me by now…?
“I highly doubt it. She always liked you the most out of the girls. Probably because you have that,” you gestured with your hands towards her, motioning to all of her, “awkward charm.”
Gwen stayed silent at your remark. The joke did not land, did it?
She spoke quietly next to you.
“You think I have charm?”
“You’re definitely missing my point there.” You flushed, redirecting your eyes down to your wrists, messing with your bracelets.
You held the stuffed animal under your arms as you pushed your knees up to yourself a little closer. It was a little cold in the room. Your eyes flashed to the clock sitting on your bed stand. It was past midnight by now, but you didn’t feel tired in the slightest. You wanted to talk to Gwen more. Hear her a little longer.
Gwen sat nervously beside you. Subconsciously stiffening up her shoulders as the words laid on her tongue. Her eyes darted to and away from your face as she spoke into the room. She faltered.
“Do you think, well. Do you think it’d be alright if… if we went back to being friends?” Gwen barely whispered, her words dying down in her throat.
Gwen waited painfully for your response.
“I didn’t think we ever stopped being friends.”
You waited for her response. For her remarks, or thoughts of rejection, but they never came. The two of you just sat in silence, letting the sound of the wind and the distance chatter of the city fill your room.
You looked over at her, noticing her head had turned away from you. You frowned, until your eyes panned down to your hand. Her skin gently brushes against yours as an invitation for contact. You interlock your fingers over hers, hiding behind your stuffed animal to conceal your tinted face.
“I missed being with you.” She whispered.
Your heart raced, and all efforts to deep breathily were useless as your brain could only focus on the way her cold fingers fit against yours perfectly and delicately.
“Or maybe you just missed my complex and intricate character? I made an amazing girl in the chair after all.” You blurted, brushing off the fact that you were so nervous it felt like your heart was gonna beat out of your chest.
Gwen smiled and laughed softly. “I don’t think you ever focused on the missions at all.”
You scoffed at her truthful complaint, jokingly taking offense as you took your hand out of hers, crossing your arms.
The two of you stared at each other, focusing the best you could on each other's faces. Gwen was smiling.
“Okay, well maybe I just liked calling you.”
There it was again. That small flash of discomfort. You uncrossed your arms and turned to face her fully as you readjusted your body. She inhaled sharply, maybe at her bruises touching something.
“I’m not sure why you did.” She said.
That made your face sour. “Why wouldn’t I?”
Gwen mustered up the courage to address the situation you were working so hard to ignore. She tried her best to look at you, but eye contact was hard at the moment. Your face always appeared in her head when she’d lay at night regretting everything. She ran her fingers through her hair. “I was so, so irritated then. I always acted rude towards you.”
She looked frustrated, her brows knit tightly as her piercing glinted from the little light.
You felt every repressed emotion come back up, just for a moment. You were truthful then, and you would be now. “Well yeah, it did hurt a little, but that wasn’t enough for me to just push you away. I know you needed someone to keep reaching out.”
Gwen covered her stomach with her arms as she closed off from you. “I didn’t. I, I don’t.”
You stared at her back turned towards you.
“That’s not true.”
She exhaled. “I don’t need your pity.”
You cut her off. “It’s not pity. You should know that.”
She turned towards you. “What else would it be? I don’t understand you.”
“You are so oblivious Gwen.” You gritted through your teeth. Your head spun.
“Oblivious? To what?” She blurted, irritation prominate in her voice. Gwen felt distant from you at the moment.
You looked at her with pure guilt and shame. Your anger died down in your head. “Don’t make me say it.”
“Say what?” She eyed you carefully, feeling the severity of your words.
The two of you sat in what felt like eternity as you contemplated killing off the question. You’d gone over this moment in your head over and over before. You’d dreamt of the two of you sharing mutual feelings for the longest time. You’d dreamt of her.
Gwen’s eyes rapidly scanned your face as the anticipation rattled her brain with thoughts.
“That, that I like you…” You whispered, voice shaky.
She sat up fully to face you. Her face was tense and confused. “What…?”
“I thought I’d made it obvious before, but.”
“I didn’t know.”
“Yeah, it was, I don’t know. It was stupid.” You hugged your knees closer to your torso, wanting to leave this moment as your stomach dropped at her reaction. It was obvious she was never interested in you, and you felt like an idiot for wishing it was true anyways.
Gwen felt like she was going to explode. Your words replayed in her head over and over as she tried to get a grasp on herself. You liked her. Romantically. She had a lot of questions running through her head. Like when did it start, or how long you kept it hidden. But most of all, why her? To Gwen, you were levels above her. She couldn’t believe you. Gwen always avoided becoming too emotionally invested in people. She’d slipped up when it came to you.
You groaned into your hands as you felt her eyes on you. Wanting to apologize, you peeked out from your defensive position, words faltering as you saw Gwen next to you. She messed with her fingers as her body didn’t turn away from you at all. She wasn’t rejecting you.
“You didn’t let me answer.” She spoke out, flustered.
Instead, she was closing the distance between the two of you, physically and emotionally.
“I don’t know if I want to hear it.” You mindlessly spoke back.
“Then…”
Her hand grasped at your sleeve to signal for you to move. You understood as you let your legs fall from your chest, twisting your torso to let the girl above you gravitate towards you nervously. Her arm landed on the covers next to you to hold herself up as she gently caressed your side, lazily grabbing you. You were a stuttering mess as you felt her grasp on your waist.
Gwen couldn’t think clearly as she scanned over your face. She didn’t want to mess this up. You were just as nervous, but you understood her well. Ignoring the way your chest pounded, you cupped her face. Her skin felt warm against your hand.
The air between the two of you felt heavy as you both wavered, just looking at each other the best you could in the dark. You felt timid as Gwen anxiously connected with your lips. She was so soft and sincere towards you, it drove you insane. Her hair tickled your skin as she pulled back.
“Is this- is this okay?” She spoke barely above a whisper.
Your voice cracked as you tried to breathe against your racing heart, “yes.”
Gwen bit her lip to stifle her smile. She was somehow pulling off a very calm and collected facade at the fact that she got to kiss you. You, on the other hand, exuded your bliss through a smile that couldn’t quite come off. You run your thumb against her cheek as the words come to you quickly.
“So does this mean you’ll get to kiss me upside down?”
She flushed at your choice of words, glaring at you, “I’m a crime fighting superhero with spider powers and that’s all you want to do with me?”
You let out an embarrassed laugh, “Maybe.”
She stared at you momentarily before chuckling, her erupting laugh filling you with pride. You always found her laugh to be cute, and the fact that you were hearing it again after your separation made you laugh along with her.
“I can’t believe you.” Gwen muttered, recovering from her amusement.
“Whatever.” You jokingly rolled your eyes, wrapping your arms around the back of her neck as you placed a chaste kiss onto the corner of her lips.
Gwen lazily reached out for your hand and shyly held her skin against yours, relishing the way your heartbeat travelled through your fingertips to hers. Her skin buzzed as your simple gaze made her lips curl into a much needed smile.
Gwen smiled into your skin as the two of you shared each other's company for the rest of the night, stealing nervous giddy glances as you both caught up. And for the record you did convince her to give you that upside down kiss later, with a little defiance though since Gwen was embarrassed at your excitement.

While hanging out with Gwen, you notice a slight change in her mood, so you try to cheer her up. She ends up confessing her feelings for you
🕷 Gwen Stacy x Spider!Reader 🕷
a/n: I got this idea when I discovered this song(title) and it was just so cute I had to write it! Reader's gender neutral, this is just pure fluff. okay, I realized there's actually a bit of angst too I guess, but juuust a little bit.
Oh, and another note, english isn't my first language so I was a bit unsure about a few words and terms I used(like "stunt" and "splutter" and "peck"), so please lmk if there's anything incorrect or other words that would fit better! Thank you :)

The sun was starting to hide behind the tall buildings of New York, turning the sky pink and lilac, and you and Gwen had been swinging through your city for a while now. She'd been helping you keep an eye out for any criminals or civilians who needed help, but mostly, she was just distracting you with her jokes and new "spider-stunts" she had learned. Not that you minded, though - neither of your spider-senses had warned you of any danger, so you had time to watch her and giggle at her little performances(clearly an attempt to catch your attention and impress you, but neither of you would admit it out loud). And to be honest, how could you mind it, when she was just so pretty and charming when showing off her new tricks, and how her experience as a dancer gave her a certain gracefulness, especially when she would land on some random roof? Safe to say, she had your attention all for herself.
Eventually, you two took a break, finding a nice spot on a tall building, sitting on the ledge to catch your breath and enjoy the view. Taking off your masks, you share a glace that makes both of you let out a chuckle. You return your attention to the setting sun, admiring its beauty. For a few moments, the two of you sit in silence, seeming peaceful and relaxed as you appreciated the scenery in front of you. Until you realize a slight change in Gwen's expression - head low, eyes focused on her hands, the corners of her lips almost curling down. You cross your legs, shifting slightly closer to her, your eyes sofly scanning her face.
"What's bothering you, pretty girl?" Your head tilts to the side as you offer her a gentle smile, earning from her a small chuckle. She looks at you for a moment, then turns her gaze back to her hands, fiddling with the fabric of her mask.
"Just... thinking about my dad," She responds quietly, letting out a sigh. You knew about what she was going through, and every time you were reminded of it, your heart would sink in your chest. Her words made you want to wrap your arms tightly around her and never let go, to protect her from everything else in the world, to create the most peaceful and safe world inside yourself just for her to live in. But instead, you simply placed your hand over hers, slowing down her nervous movements, making her turn her head to look at you.
You didn't really know what to do about it. If you could, you would solve all of her problems with a magic wand just so you could see her truly happy again. You'd do anything for her. But right now, the best you could do was cheer her up, get her mind off of her troubles and remind her that she was loved by many other people - but mostly, by you.
You reached for your phone, looking for a specific song from your playlist. "Y'know, I'm a firm believer that some songs offer more comfort than normal words can," You tell her, one hand still holding hers as the other holds your phone, your eyes fixed on it. When you find it, you put it on, turning up the volume and placing your phone in the small gap between you two, giving her a sweet, reassuring smile.
As the song starts, you start to sway your head and body to the rythm, the soft and uplifting energy taking over you. Occasionally, you'd sing along to some of the lyrics, either some "message" you wanted to emphasize, since you couldn't word them exactly yourself, or just some verse you had memorized. You took her hand, causing her to sway with you, earning a subtle chuckle from her as she shook her head, amused by your cheerful energy.
The way you smiled and sang along to the song got her stuck in a trance, unable to take her eyes off of you. It even brought a soft smile to her face. She was mesmerized by the way you moved so freely, and how careless and relaxed you seemed to be, even though she was watching. Truth is, sometimes your heart would skip a beat when you noticed her gaze on you, or you'd feel your cheeks heating up. But you tried to brush it off, because your goal was to lighten up her mood, and by the way her smile was growing wider, and how you'd occasionally hear a laugh from her, it seemed you were succeeding. So you kept swaying, occasionally using your intertwined hands as a fake microphone, looking at her while your singing mixed with giggles.
When the song ended, you exchanged a glance, causing you both to laugh. It warmed your heart to see her like that, genuine laughter escaping from her lips as she shut her eyes closed, shaking her head again. When both of you were able to quiet your laughter, your eyes met again, and time seemed to slow down as you observed how the golden light from the sunset illuminated her face. For a quick moment, that seemed to last longer than it did, you noticed the softness of her features, the color of her eyes, her freckles... You ended up forgetting that she was looking at you too.
"Can I tell you something?" She said, finally breaking the silence, snapping you out of your own trance. Her tone was soft and gentle, so you didn't notice the hesitance in her voice, and you couldn't tell how fast her heart was beating when she finally got the courage to speak. You nod, with your attention focused on her and not on the butterflies that seemed to appear in your stomach. "I feel like there's a sun inside my heart... whenever I'm with you."
Her words make your heart skip a beat, taken by surprise. You let out a nervous chuckle, averting her gaze for a moment as you try to soothe your own quick heartbeats, and failing at that. You bring one of your knees up, close to your chest, and rest your head on top of it, taking a deep breath as you look at her. "Does it feel like it's burning?" You joke, trying to cope with your nervousness. But you could feel your cheeks burning, and it wasn't from the warm sunlight that hit your skin.
She shakes her head, chuckling. "Feels more like a blanket," she tells you, and you could swear the way her eyes reflect the setting sun is the prettiest thing you've ever seen. "You make me comfortable," she adds, "and I find myself looking for any opportunity to spend time with you, because you're so bright and sweet, that I just want to..." she doesn't finish her sentence, letting out a sigh as she seems to think about her next words.
Your eyes are fixed on her, studying carefully her expression, and waiting expectantly for her to speak again. You could tell where this was going, and the sensation of butterflies kept growing, making you eager to hear what she would say next. The whole world seemed to fade away in this moment, the girl beside you seemed more interesting and beautiful than anything else.
"I want to be with you, like, all the time," she finally declared, chuckling nervously while turning her gaze to you, looking for your reaction as she tried to figure out what you were feeling or thinking. "I hope you get what I mean, I'm not really sure how to put this into words," she spluttered, unsure about your feelings for her.
"Mm-hm," you nod with a subtle smile, unable to form a coherent sentence with your heart pounding in your chest and your mind emptying with each second that you stare at her. Everything around you seemed to melt like ice-cream, and so did your heart.
She turns her head to face you, your eyes meeting again, and at this point, you can't ignore your butterflies anymore. With a bit of hesitancy, she slowly leans closer to you, moving her gaze from your eyes to your lips as she waited for a hint of your consent. When you finally leaned closer, mirroring her, she connected your lips and hers. She brought her hand to your cheek as she gave you another peck on your lips, gently holding your face. You weren't sure if this moment lasted forever or just a second, but you were simply glad for experiencing it.
The both of you slightly pull away, breaking the kiss with a soft smile on your faces, but you keep your eyes closed for a second longer. When your eyes meet again, you let out a giggle, appreciating the moment - and grateful for her confession. You shift your body closer to hers, laying your head on her shoulder to watch the almost hidden sun. You could still feel the warmth on your cheeks when she placed a gentle kiss on the top of your head before resting her head on yours, breaths slowing down and matching your rhythm.
Maybe, just maybe, everything would be okay. For now, it certainly was, because she could feel you right next to her, and that was enough to spark some hope in her heart.

tags: fluff, sneaking out, kisses
word count: 2.1k
a/n: i’m so slow w writing apologies.. i had no idea what to write for this but managed to persevere, he’s so cute enjoy o(`ω´ )o
✰✰✰
“Okay, wait. You’re telling me you’ve never had chai before?” Spoke Pavitr, looking at you like you were crazy.
“Like never ever? Ever?” He drew out, looking at you with desperation across the room.
You chuckled, repeating your statement.
“Never. I’ve just never tried it! I don’t know what more you want from me.” You whined, finding his reaction amusing. He held out his hands in front of him, clearly distressed at this piece of information. He muttered something you couldn’t understand to himself.
“Okay, tell me, what’s so great about this tea anyway?” You inquired, placing your pencil down. Assignment papers scattered around your desk as you gave up on studying for the fourth time. Pavitr sat with his legs crossed on your bed, comfortably sat.
“It’s only like the greatest thing I’ve ever tasted? It’s got this super creamy taste and it’s so flavorful! I can’t believe you haven’t tried it before. Seriously.” Pavitr crossed his arms, peering at you. He sighed, clearly confused. His eyebrows furrowed as he looked at you.
“What is it now?” You sighed.
Pavitr looked around the room, looking over at the papers on your desk, his mind working. He grinned as he looked at you. You knew he was up to something.
Your voice was suspicious, “Pav… No. Whatever it is, no.”
“...”
“Pavitr.” You warned.
“Come on! Listen, it’ll just be a super quick trip. Your parents won’t even notice that we’re gone.”
You couldn’t believe it. He was being so mischievous!
“Of course they’ll notice! We can’t go jumping out of my window every single time you come over.” You scolded, trying your best to not cave in. That was untill he pulled out the look. His pleading look.
You groaned, “No! No. Pav.”
“...”
“Ugh I hate when you do that!”
You groaned frustratedly. “Okay, just this once. But we have to be back before dinner.” You sighed trying to put out down some rules. Pavitr only chuckled at how easily you folded. He got up from your bed, reaching into his school bag to grab out his spidersuit.
You glanced at him as he changed, butterflies filling your stomach as you found yourself in this situation once again. Ever since you’d accidentally discovered his identity, you were scared he’d distance himself from you. But to your surprise, he was grateful to have at least one person in on his secret. And you definitely knew he liked to show off to you. It was definitely cute.
You turned away from him, grabbing a jacket and some spare money. Throwing your shoes on, you turned to Pavitr once he was finally done changing. He smiled proudly as he fixed up his suit, patting off any debris. He held his colorful red mask in his hand, grinning at you widely as leaned towards you, placing a chaste kiss on your cheek.
You smiled at his contact, yanking your window open as you let him land on the fire escape as he exited through it. You slung a leg over the window sill, grabbing onto his shoulder to help balance as you followed behind him. Pavitr gave you a smug grin before fully pulling his mask over his face.
You looked him up and down, admiring him in the suit, “I like you in costume.”
Pavitr’s eyes widened through his mask, quiety flustered at your comment. “It’s technically a suit, not a costume.” He mumbled. You laughed at him as you reached up and slung your arms over his shoulder, holding on tight to him as he nervously placed his arm around your waist.
“You ready?” He asked with a gentle voice. Making sure you were comfortable. You nodded, your heart racing as Pavitr nodded, flinging his golden bangle up into the air, swinging it into the sky as it wrapped around a building. He gave you a reassuring nod before hoisting you and kicking off of the window, the two of you swinging with his web.
The busy sounds of the city filled your ears along with the wind that moved against the two of you. He hollered as you two flew deeper into the city, passing bridges and larger buildings. You involuntarily shut your eyes closed, still afraid of the height, even after having swung with Pavitr multiple times. You’d never understand how he felt safe doing what he did. As the two of you picked up speed as Pavitr swung, you clutched onto his shoulders tighter, hiding your face into his shoulder.
You heard a light chuckle from him as you felt the two of you travel across Mumbattan. Citizens shouted greetings to Pavitr, some of them gasping in astonishment and adoration. Even with all of the attention, Pavitr only paid attention to you, clutching onto you as tight as he could.
The two of you traveled through the city for what felt like forever (probably like five minutes, but you were nervous). Eventually, he swung onto the top of a building, holding onto you until the two of you stopped at a building’s rooftop.
Pavitr held onto your waist still, allowing you to move away from him on your own time. You cautiously unscrunched your face, looking up to see his colorful mask. You took a deep breath, recovering from the swinging and appreciating the stability a solid floor offered you.
Pavitr scanned over you, carefully moving his hands from your waist to your hands. He spoke in a gentle and smooth voice, “Holding up okay? We can always walk.” He rubbed circles onto the back of your hand as your adrenaline died down.
You smiled up at the masked boy, “Just catching my breath, I think I got a fly in my mouth.” You joked, lightly laughing. Pavitr chuckled, gesturing to his face, “Perks of the mask.”
Pavitr carefully let go of your hand, stepping away to peer down at the street below, scanning the area. He hummed in approval, reaching his hand out towards you, “The cafe is just a few blocks away. Are you okay to go?” Pavitr tilted his head slightly at you, a mannerism you found cute.
“Of course. I know you won’t drop me.”
Pavitr beamed at you, you could tell. Reaching up, you slung your arms behind Pavitr’s head, kissing his cheek through his mask before letting him grab you again. He giggled at your little gesture, nuzzling into your cheek as a kiss back. Throwing his bangle again, the two of you dropped as he swung across buildings.
Mustering the courage, you very bravely cranked your eyes open, breath hitching at the height the two of you swung, until you remembered you were with your boyfriend. Your superhero boyfriend who would never let you be in harms way. You felt a little lighter, enjoying the wind on your face. The beautiful architecture of Mumbattan illuminated by the sun’s shine took your breath away as you peered out.
This was a view to die for.
Pavitr turned his head, speaking to you midair.
“Almost there.”
You nodded into his shoulder, feeling the momentum of you both halt as he landed on a street. You let out a huff of air as you regained stability. Pavitr peeked into the shop, smiling at you through his mask. He gave your hand a quick squeeze, “Be right back with drinks.”
You watched as he pushed past the glass doors, being welcomed by the employees at the register. A sweet looking woman beamed at him. You couldn’t see what they were saying, but Pavitr seemed to be getting praised as the woman reached up to him, giving him kisses on the cheeks of his mask. He shook his hands and head in objection, reaching to grab his money. The woman shook her head, dismissing him instantly.
You chuckled at Pavitr as he defeatidly nodded. People passing on the streets stared in amazement at Spider-man. Excited chatter surrounded the cafe as people stopped by the window. It was hard not to feel proud of your boyfriend in that moment. To see him be so loved and adored by everyone just as you adored him. Walking off into an empty allyway, you waited for Pav.
He eventually slipped in, scanning behind him to see any stray fans. He walked over to you with two paper cups filled with hot chai in his hands. He sighed, “Sorry that took so long, had to take a lot of pictures.” You nodded, not minding.
“Could you hold these for me? Don’t worry they won’t spill.” He reassured you, passing the chai into your hands. He picked you up, clearly cheery about seeing you after that fiasco. You yelped, forgetting that Pavitr was super strong, “How chivalrous of you.” You teased, watching him shrug sheepishly.
He launched his bangle once again, hoisting you securely and swinging upwards. Clutching onto the cups with one arm, you held onto his shoulder with the other arm. As the two of you swung, gaining momentum, he spotted a particular building he liked. You watched as the two of you rose higher and higher. Pavitr smiled under his mask, placing you down carefully.
You looked around curiously, recognizing the building you stood on.
You peered out, catching the sunset from this elevation, “Whoa.”
Pavitr shrugged, “Nice right? I sit here to catch the sunset a lot, thought you’d like it…” His voice died down as he stared at you from the side, words empty as he saw you engulfed in golden light. In moments like these, he always felt overwhelmed by your bare existence and beauty. His heart raced as you turned to look at him, grinning.
“This is, um, beautiful. Thank you for bringing me up here.”
“No problem… anything for you.” He mumbled.
You sat down on the roof, setting the chai down carefully. Pavitr instantly followed you, sitting down next to you with his legs crossed. He felt proud for bringing you out here, sharing this spot with you. You leaned against his shoulder, unable to take your eyes off of the horizon and the way it lit up Mumbattan. “I can’t believe I’ve never paid attention to the sunset like this,” you admitted. Pavitr nodded.
He gazed over at you, unable to focus. How was he suppose to take in the view around him when you were right there?
Breaking your serene moment, you turned to look at Pavitr back, eyeing him with a smile. “You’re awfully quiet,” you pointed out, grinning. He didn’t speak, just staring at you through his mask. Something was up with him, and you were unsure of what he was thinking in the moment.
As he shuffled, he reached up to his face, pulling his mask up halfway, leaning into you with his body as he kissed you suddenly, hand placed at the curve of your back to pull you in closer. Getting over your initial surprise, you melted into him. He smiled into the kiss, blushing at the way your lips felt against his. He gently pulled back, ignoring the fact that you stared up at him in surprise, mouth slightly agape.
You steadied yourself by grabbing onto his shoulders, “What… what was that about?” You muttered, feeling nervous with Pavitr’s gaze on you, even through his mask. You could tell he was scanning across your features, an innocent smile plastered across the half of his face that was exposed. He had caught you off guard. His stomach fluttered at the unusually close proximity.
His soft giggle snapped you back into the moment, “I just wanted to kiss you, is all.”
Letting the hand on your cheek to fall to his side, he picked up a cup of chai, blowing on it gently before taking a sip, sighing in satisfaction at the taste. He urged you to try yours, handing you your cup.
Recovering from Pavitr’s sneaky move, you took the cup. Bringing it up to your lips, taking an eager sip, accidentally scalding your tongue.
Pav looked over at you in shock, “Careful!”
You made a scrunched up expression which he chuckled at, watching you blow on the drink this time. As you took a more cautious sip, your face lit up at the taste. Humming in approval, you continued to drink it.
“You were right! This is… amazing. Wow.”
He leaned down a little closer to you,“Don’t ever question my judgement.” He scolded playfully.
Pavitr continued to drink from his cup, smiling at the moment the two of you were sharing. He let go of your waist, placing both hands on his cup. You looked over to him, his tan features engulfed in golden sun. You were in awe at your amazing boyfriend. His head fell onto your shoulder, the two of you sitting in comfortable silence and enjoying a hot drink as the sun lowered.
The two of you would definitely spend too much time sitting there at the rooftop, never wanting to leave the view. Of course, Pavitr would swing you back over to your house just in time. The two of you seated back at your desk and bed, acting like you had continued studying together when your parents entered the room to check in on you both. Pavitr gave you a sly look after, continuing to work on his paper.
Having Spiderman be your boyfriend had its perks.

⋆ Miles x Spider!gn!reader Headcanons ⋆
a/n: i’m actually like half awake rn, but wanted to post something anyways! sorry if this appears rushed it is, also i just realized i kind of gave up on the headcanon format halfway but whatevs, miles!!! such a cutie
✰✰✰
⋆ When the two of you first met, you were instantly charmed with him, Miles chatting you up with his friendly outgoing personality
⋆ Showed genuine interest in you and your experience as being a Spiderperson
⋆ Definitely geeked out about your suit and your powers, absolutely showed off, showcasing his powers to you
⋆ The two of you just had so much chemistry talking at the first meeting, it was impossible to forget
⋆ The two of you started hanging out more and more after, especially through texting since he didn’t leave his dimension that often
⋆ He uses kaomojis (so happy this is canon), and you found it absolutely adorable, “coming over now!!!╰(*´︶`*)╯”
⋆ When you bring up his cutesy way of texting in person he acts all casual about it, but he’s a little embarrassed at your comments about it
⋆ Likes hanging out in your room, makes himself at home whilst still respecting your space
⋆ Definitely comes over to just chat and draw, and listen to music
⋆ He sings so badly but puts so much emotion into it you can’t help but laugh, “What what’s wrong with my singing?” He likes to act offended but he’s happy he’s making you laugh
⋆ Gets worried about you after you’ve had a risky or dangerous fight
⋆ He makes sure you’re okay and patched up before he starts cracking jokes to take your mind off of your encounter
⋆ Miles loves taking pictures of cool things he sees in Brooklyn, sending it to you as he takes a break from swinging
⋆ Shares pictures and of cute animals to you like a mom, in return you send pictures of your dimension back, occasional selfies which Miles stares at longer than he’d like to admit
⋆ Swung into a pigeon and a drone multiple times as he was texting and swinging
⋆ He loves drawing doodles onto your skin, but secretly just likes having an excuse to hold your hand as he draws
⋆ Jokingly flirts with you at first, until he actually realizes he has feelings for you
⋆ He’s super nervous at first to be even suggesting that kind of stuff between the two of you, until he has some confirmation that you could potentially like him back
⋆ Then that’s when the flirting gets amplified
⋆ Probably kicks his feet and giggles whenever you do something sweet for him
⋆ Not kicking his feet physically, more just stuffing his face into his pillow as he runs the moment back over in his mind again and again
⋆ Definitely lays in bed wide awake thinking about you, he is such an overthinker
⋆ Likes sharing his songs with you just so he can use it as an excuse to have the two of you sharing headphones
⋆ He has a horrible crush on you first, sometimes talks about you to Ganke, to which Ganke just tells him to confess already
⋆ Miles gets absolutely anxious at the thought of confessing to you, he does not want to ruin your guys’s friendship
⋆ At one point he gets so desperate for advice that he reaches out to the others for help
⋆ Peter teases him instead of giving advice, he’s so proud of Miles and starts talking about his first meeting with him and Mary Jane, Miles groans and leaves
⋆ Asked Gwen for advice, she shrugged, not really knowing what to say on that topic, she did tease him also
⋆ Gwen let the news slip when talking to Hobie, then Hobie told Pavitr, and now everyone knew of Miles’ crush on you, except you
⋆ Pavitr and Hobie actually gave him good advice, consoling him to confess when he’s ready, maybe do a little romantic gesture
⋆ After a few days of not talking, you got lonely, assuming that Miles was probably just busy with his duties or school in his universe
⋆ You were on patrol one day at night, when you walked past a music store
⋆ You thought about it for a moment, before you decided to walk in, mask on, to purchase some empty CD’s
⋆ A little friendly gesture for Miles, you’d burn a CD for him, sentimental songs that reminded you of him
⋆ The cashier instantly recognized you as the city’s superhero, giving you the CD’s for free, to which you thanked him graciously
⋆ That night after patrolling, you went home and begun your process, collecting the perfect songs
⋆ Just as you were finished, adding the final touches to the CD cover, you heard a faint tapping on your window, which scared you out of your mind, making you jump
⋆ Through the pane of glass, Miles laughed at you, waving to you as he stood outside with his suit on
⋆ You opened the window, and let him in, excited to see him again
⋆ “Miss me?” He teased, taking a seat at your desk, before he noticed all of the paper scraps around your room
⋆ Lo and behold, Miles’s Mixtape, held proudly in your hand as you gave it to him, waiting for his reaction
⋆ Obviously he was so excited, staring at the CD in his hands with adoration and amazement
⋆ “I was missing you this week, thanks for dropping by,” you said sincerely, Miles glancing at you from his seated position
⋆ He let out a deep breath, the air around him suddenly serious. You watched carefully, adjusting to his vibe right away, giving him your full attention
⋆ Miles set your CD down, looking down at your floor as he spoke up, voice quiet and wavering as he messed with his hands
⋆ You were so shocked, unsure if you heard that right–there was a long period of silence between the two of you, Miles panicking in the corner as he instantly regretted confessing
⋆ All of his confidence disappeared, but before he could leave, you spoke up, admitting that you liked him too
⋆ The two of you looked at each other like idiots, before Miles let out a nervous laugh
⋆ He spoke quietly, asking if he could kiss you
⋆ You couldn’t help but chuckle at his voice crack, nervously leaning in to kiss him anyways, hands grasped onto his cheeks as you felt him smile into the kiss
⋆ Miles didn’t know if he had accidentally shocked you or not during the kiss, or if it was just his nerves, but either way, he laughed in relief
⋆ After, the two of you couldn’t speak to each other without conversations ending in an awkward silence
⋆ He eventually had to leave, although it was extremely reluctantly–the goodbyes were drawn out to like five minutes
⋆ When Miles got back to his dimension, he instantly ran to upstairs to his room, popping in your CD into his jukebox, smiling to himself as he took in the music you had personally selected him
⋆ He couldn’t wait to see you again, drawing a little portrait of you in his sketchbook as he hummed along to the music

✰✰✰
Un unbelievable stack of homework and two essays due. You couldn’t believe it. The sunlight beamed through your window and shined onto your desk, papers covering its surface as you tiredly scribbled on your assignment papers. Friday night and you had nothing better to do than weekend homework, how miserable. You sighed, tapping mindlessly on your desk when a buzz from your phone interrupted you. Picking it up, you smiled seeing it was Gwen.
It read, “on the way, open ur window!”
You sighed at the words, setting down your pencil and getting up out of your chair to unlock your window. Gwen had a bad habit of breaking in when she wanted to. You’d already assured her your family was okay with her visiting, preferably through the front door. But she always insisted that it was easier this way. Socializing seemed to sometimes stress her out you noticed.
Unlocking your window with a click, you raised it open, taking a nice breather as cold air blew in. The sunset was particularly nice today, and you didn’t quite mind seeing your favorite person right now. Sitting on your bed, you spiffed up your room for Gwen, making the bed and cleaning your cluttered desk. Just as you were about to exit your room to go and grab some snacks, a few knocks on your window sill signaled that your girlfriend had arrived. You turned around and beamed.
“Hey, sorry for the late notice.” She apologized, sitting on your window sill and climbing down from it. Taking off her white mask, Gwen sat down on your bed, crashing down on it. Until she rose up again.
“Oh, sorry.”
“Thank you for remembering.” You teased. Watching her take off her beaten-up shoes, and carefully placing them near the window on the floor. She let out a huff, flopping back onto your bed. Gwen’s suit was a little damaged and scratched. She looked tired.
“I’m not keeping you from anything, am I…?” She asked. It was obvious that she felt guilty about her visit. But you’d reassured her many times before that your room was always available to her whenever she wanted. And so was your company.
Eyeing the homework on your desk, you declared your study session over. It didn’t matter all that much compared to hanging out with her. “Nope. I’m glad you dropped by actually, I was getting bored.” You explained, looking at Gwen as she folded her legs up on your bed. Gwen awkwardly rubbed her arm as she looked around the room.
“So…”
“Yes.”
She raised her eyebrow, “You don’t even know what I was gonna say.”
Rolling your eyes, you responded, “Yes you can sleep over. I don’t mind.”
Gwen smiled at you, relieved. You leaned back against your desk, “I’m glad you’re here.”
She smirked, “What, you missed me?”
“Actually I did, yeah.”
Looking at Gwen, you figured that she didn’t have the best day today, being a crime fighting hero and all. Walking up to her and leaning down, you placed a hand on her cheek and gave her face a quick kiss. She chuckled and peered up at you. You held onto her cheek momentarily, “I’m gonna go and get us some snacks. Have you eaten anything today?”
“Oh uh, I haven’t had the chance yet.”
“Gwen.” You said, sternly.
“I just had to go to band practice, then there was some jerk downtown and-” She spoke quietly, her voice dying down as you stared at her, an irritated look on your face. Gwen sighed and grabbed the back of her neck, her hair falling down to hide her guilty expression.
“Sorry…”
You sighed, smiling at her nonetheless, “I’m gonna go make us some food. Stay put Spider.” Gwen grinned at you, watching you walk out of the room. She took a deep breath, lying down as she observed your room like she always did. She loved the comfort you and your space brought her. Your room was decorated with posters and fairy lights.
Gwen looked around, deciding that she should probably change. It was an unspoken ritual for Gwen to pick out something from your closet. You’d let her do it once, for a sleepover. But ever since, she’d found routine in picking out an outfit of yours for her to wear and potentially keep if given permission.
She walked up to your closet, finding a pair of pajama pants and an oversized tee. She slipped it on as she changed out of her spider suit, carefully tucking it away to where it was out of sight. Just in case. Gwen tugged the shirt towards her face, taking in your scent. Her senses were filled with just you, as she felt at ease.
Walking over to your bed, she noticed a new photo in your little collage of Polaroids. It was from your last hangout. “The Mary Janes Concert–October.” In it, Gwen was holding you by the waist, her drumsticks clasped in her hand. Your arm held her cheek for a kiss, whilst the other held up Gwen’s Polaroid camera. Gwen was laughing as she looked in your direction, feeling proud of your praise of her performance.
That night your throat was so raspy from cheering for her, and Gwen felt absolutely ecstatic as you tackled her after the concert. She was happy to introduce you to her band members after, grabbing you by the hand and speaking with pride to announce you as her one and only girlfriend.
Gwen stared at the Polaroid, taking it in. She smiled and reached out, touching the photo. Moments like these felt surreal, and being reminded that someone as amazing as you were willing to stick by her and be in her life, made her woozy. Gwen loved you a lot.
The door cranked open as you walked in, a plate of sandwiches in one hand, and a mug of freshly brewed tea in your other. You set down the food on your nightstand, glancing at Gwen as she took her hand away from the Polaroid hung up above your bed. You observed her, obsessed with the way she looked in your clothes.
“Being nosy again?”
“Just lookin’ around.” She shrugged, tucking her blonde hair behind her ear.
You sat down next to her, the bed shifting under your weight. You held out the plate towards her, to which she gratefully accepted. Gwen dug in right away, mumbling incoherent words as she ate. You laughed at this, “I can’t understand you when your chewing, you know that right?” Gwen swallowed her bite and smiled at you, gesturing to her sandwich.
“This is seriously good. I’ll never get tired of your food.”
“Glad you like it.” You grabbed the mug off of the nightstand, passing it to her as she finished the last bite of her sandwich. Chamomile is Gwen’s favorite. You’d made an effort to always keep it in stock for her since she liked to crash at yours a lot. Gwen took it carefully in her hands, blowing on the tea to cool it down.
You grabbed a pillow off of your bed and hugged it to your chest, just quietly watching Gwen as she drank her tea. You gently smiled, as she seemed a little bit more energized now. Grabbing your own mug from the nightstand, you drank it quickly, uncaring of how cold it had gotten. Putting the mug down, you patted the bed. Gwen looked up at you curiously.
“I’m a little tired today, do you wanna…?”
Her eyes widened as she lowered her mug.
“Yeah, I wouldn’t mind.” She smiled at your offer, shifting off of the bed, and placing her tea on your nightstand. She lifted the covers off of your bed, carefully moving the pillows and occasional stuffed animals off to the side to make room. As Gwen got into the bed, you turned off your main light, allowing the darkness to consume your room. The sun had set long ago now, and it was time to wind down. You walked up to your fairy lights, switching them on so that only gentle orange light illuminated your room.
Carefully stepping over to your bed, you got in, placing the covers over yourself, noting how you were much colder before. The warmth of your covers had you snuggling into them deeper. You glanced over at Gwen, who looked a little unsure of what to do with herself. You two were still kind of new to the whole cuddling thing. It’d taken a long while for Gwen to be comfortable with physical contact like that on top of that. She let out a small laugh as you snaked your arm around her as you faced her.
“What?” You asked, curious of her amusement.
“I don’t think this position is natural for you.” She teased, noting how awkward your arm felt around her torso. Your body was also pretty stiff. Gwen’s face was gently glowing due to the string lights, her blonde hair fell down into her face as she shifted her body to face towards you. So much for being big spoon tonight.
There was a quick silence between the two of you. Your face was comfortably above the covers, whilst Gwen pulled them up to cover her exposed skin. Her heart was racing, as usual. She’d never gotten used to intimate moments like this, and she’d decided that she’d never get used to it. You made her nervous in all the good ways.
Gwen peered at you, the covers pulled up to half of her face. Nothing was said between the two of you. Leaning in closer, you gently moved her blonde hair out of her eyes. Talking no louder than a whisper, you spoke, “Your hair, I think the pink is fading, you should…”
Gwen shuffled, reaching out and grabbing your collar, pulling you closer to her. Her hair tickled your face as she hovered her face near yours, before carefully connecting her lips with yours. It was quick but intimate. And if not for the dark, Gwen would have definitely taken the opportunity to comment on the rising red on your cheeks. She pulled away, not completely leaving the kiss as her lips brushed over yours. And yet just like that it was over.
She cleared her throat as you lay there speechless, she glanced at your eyes through the dim room, avoiding eye contact as much as possible.
“We should probably sleep now. It’s getting… late.” She blurted. That statement was probably wrong, but you nodded anyways. Gwen’s internal alarms went off, as she criticized her judgment. That took a lot of courage, but she didn’t want you to know. Laying beside her, you stared at Gwen in awe and adoration. You loved this girl so much it was unbelievable.
“Fine.” You sighed. Gwen eyed you questioningly.
“Go on.” You said defeatedly. Gwen laughed at your words, smirking as she saw your expression.
“Finally.” She teased.
Turning over to the other side, you felt her cold hands wrap around your torso, pulling you in closer. Your bodies were snug against each other. Still being wide awake, you hoped Gwen didn’t feel your thumping heart as her hand was placed on your torso. She definitely did notice of course, but she was nervous too, hiding her face in your shirt.
You both lay there, nervous and awkward, as it was usually in the beginning stages of a relationship. You felt her move your fingers, playing with them.
“I think you’re the most amazing girl I know.” She spoke softly, into your back. Your heart fluttered at this. At Gwen’s voice, and the way she gave you affection.
“I love you,” you whispered out.
Gwen only smiled as she planted a soft kiss into your shoulder.
“I love you too.”
Yawning, Gwen mumbled something into your shirt, unable to really keep her eyes open any longer. You hummed, questioning what she said. But she didn’t reply. You’d finally calmed down, letting the comfort of the covers and Gwen’s warmth ease your mind. The city’s ambiance seeped into your room through the open window as you let your mind wander. Gwen’s breathing slowed down, her head placed on your back.
Readjusting yourself and the covers by pulling them up, you froze as Gwen stirred in her sleep. Cautiously, you pulled part of the covers over her. Gwen held onto your torso tighter and moved her face into your neck, her breathing tickling your skin. Holding her hand, you caressed her skin. Her hands were rough and calloused, evidence of her skills as a drummer.
Feeling Gwen twitch in her sleep, she subconsciously intertwined her fingers with yours. The only thing you could remember was Gwen’s touch as you dozed off. Gwen may have needed your comfort and presence the most after every day as Ghost-Spider, but she’d never understand that you needed her more than you let on.
