When a person turns 16, a timer on their wrist finally activates. It’s white, faintly glows in the dark, and slowly counts the time down to when you will finally meet your soulmate. However, when/if your soulmate is in danger, it starts to blink red. Muse B has a dangerous job (i.e a cop, fireman, soldier, ect), while Muse A is just a regular citizen with a normal, perhaps even boring life, and every time their blinker turns red, they fill with anxiety and frustration, since they don’t know who their soulmate is, or where they are to be able to help them. Muse A wonders if they’ll ever get a chance to meet Muse B, or if they’ll end up with a faded scar of where the time stopped on their wrist for the rest of their lives. (Can add that Muse A feels phantom pain/sees flashes of Muse B’s life when the timer is red, or, Muse B dying for a few minutes and Muse A reacting to their timer going dark.)
