Hypersomnia is crazy because it's like
I'll tell somebody that I'm really really really tired to the point I can't control if I'm asleep or awake.
"OoOoOh did you stay up too late???" no I went to bed at 9:00 PM, like always.
"So how early did you wake up???" 6:30 AM, like always.
"Did you wake up in the middle of the night?" no. I slept literally the whole time.
"Did you forget to have coffee?" nah I chugged that shit and then some. I have the caffeine tolerance of a horse now.
"Have you tried taking a nap?" Yeah. On the bus, in class, on the bus again, in the cafeteria while waiting for my next class, and I got inspired to write this post because I woke up drooling on the floor of the bathroom and realized I had fallen asleep again.
Please do your best to understand the situations of people with sleep disorders. It's not fun. It's not cool. It's not cute. It actually really hurts and disrupts our lives.

a thing with being chronically ill is i donāt know whatās a symptom anymore. i learned last year itās not normal to pass out from standing still, i learned recently itās not normal to get dizzy from wearing a beanie. i donāt know what heart palpitations feel like because i have them all the time. i donāt notice my own pain tics. i havenāt felt not tired since i was a child. i have no idea what itās like to be 100% able bodied and neurotypical etc because iāve never tried, so i have nothing to compare with.

So, John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt. Am I the only person who interprets it as there's actually only one person with that name? Like whenever people call out his name when he goes out, he just thinks they're calling to someone else so there must be two people with his name. Like, people are shouting about "there goes John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt" makes it sound like it's only one person, not two.
Here's the traditional lyrics for reference though:
John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt,
His name is my name too.
Whenever we go out,
The people always shout,
There goes John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt.
Dah dah dah dah, dah dah dah
#john jacob jingleheimer schmidt#my childhood#nursery rhymes#camp songs#2000s kid#traditional songs#how do you interpret it#I always thought he just had self worth issues and didn't think they could POSSIBLY be talking about him#so clearly there's a second John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt

The real test is this. Suppose one reads a story of filthy atrocities in the paper. Then suppose that something turns up suggesting that the story might not be quite true, or not quite so bad as it was made out. Is oneās first feeling, āThank God, even they arenāt quite so bad as that,ā or is it a feeling of disappointment, and even a determination to cling to the first story for the sheer pleasure of thinking your enemies as bad as possible? If it is the second then it is, I am afraid, the first step in a process which, if followed to the end, will make us into devils. You see, one is beginning to wish that black was a little blacker. If we give that wish its head, later on we shall wish to see grey as black, and then to see white itself as black. Finally, we shall insist on seeing everythingāGod and our friends and ourselves includedāas bad, and not able to stop doing it: we shall be fixed for ever in a universe of pure hatred.
- C. S. Lewis

In today's adventures of learning to live with dysautonomia/chronic illness, I have to write a one page reflection about my perspective on exercise, and since I'm not "engaged in regular exercise" I have to include how I "plan to shift your mindset to embrace a healthier, more active lifestyle". I don't even know what exercise is supposed to look like for me anymore to address this prompt. I really should have talked to my prof about a modification for this assignment, but it's now due in eight hours and it's Saturday so I don't think he'd reply now. š
#dysautonomia#life with chronic illness#chronically ill student#exercise intolerance#does walking to class count as exercise if you're chronically ill#chronic illness#personal rant

itās sad that something as beautiful as plastic surgery is being commercialized and commodified like thisā¦.
#I got plastic surgery when I was 13 and I still feel weird talking about it#I had a cyst on my forehead that was very noticeable so a plastic surgeon removed it to not leave scarring
