so i’m hopefully back from my month or so of inactivity. i just recently had surgery and i had to take time to recover. if i’m being honest i’m still recovering. but i’m now doing a whole lot better. i’m now in the process of housekeeping. all my threads have been dropped. there are a few exceptions to this. and if you want to keep a thread just pm me. and if we weren’t aleady plotting leave a like if i can pop into your pms for plotting.

suwei loves being back home. being able to soak in the familiar surroundings. to hear her mother tongue. it made her feel content and warm inside. her only problem was that she couldn’t stay their longer. they were there for a couple of days. that was it. they came in did their showcase. and she was once again flying away from the place she loved.

but she got to show alice around once again. that made her happy. being able to spend time with her member while in her element made her happy. “i think we should eat before we start. but you get to choose this time. we can stroll through the streets and find somewhere to try. unless you have something in mind.” || @alicefmd

notes : yes, the letter is sappy. but she loved her time filming.  

it seemed that secret sibling was ending before it even begun. and she was sad to see it end. she’s really enjoyed herself during filming. she feels closer to minhee. it’s because of filming that she’s really gotten to know her. she know knew why some of her group members loved minhee so much.

it was nice having an older sister for a few months. she’s always wanted an older sister. or a sister. a brother would have also been fine. growing up she always felt she was missing out on something. she’d see her friends interact with their siblings and she’d wish she had one.

this experience has really changed her. and she hoped that in some minor way she’s changed minhee’s life too.

writing a letter seemed to be a huge task to take on. there was so much she wanted to say. and she had very little time to write it.

it’s on night one of their trip that she sits down to write her letter. she was alone in the room and felt she had to start somewhere.

dear minhee unnie,

first things first let me say thank you. it’s been the most memorable four months i had. the only thing that can top this is lucid’s debut and our first tour. i feel like being paired with you was a gift. of all the idols i could have been paired with i was paired with you. maybe it was fate. and i am grateful for that.

you’ve taught me a lot about being loud and unapologetic. your confident and you aren’t ashamed of that. i admire that. i hope to be just as confident as you are.

you’ve also taught me that the key to happiness is to stay a child at heart. i never want you to change that.

and despite being a child at heart you're still able to be responsible. those two facts don’t have to be contradictory.

i could go on and on about how amazing you are but i’m going to stop there. just know that your amazing and you should never change anything  about yourself.

also don’t be afraid to grow old. your doing it gracefully

i also want to thank you for listening to be talk endlessly about my art history knowledge. it’s something that brings me joy and i’m happy i got to share that with you.

 i hope this trip now means we’re friends. and i would love to continue seeing you even after filming ends. and i’m always here if you need someone to talk to.

happy with what she had she folded the piece of paper drew a heart on the giver and stuffed it in an envelope. she wrote the words minhee unnie on the front before tucking it up in her suitcase. she sat in her bed for the rest of the night. there he sat until minhee walked through the door. they spent the rest of the night chatting beige calling it a night. they had another busy day ahead of them.

“i’m always careful, unnie.” she says with a pout. offended minhee thinks she would be anything but. she was raised to be careful. to stay aware of what her body was telling her. and to let herself rest when she needed it. her body had limits. and those limits when reached where blatantly obvious. she’s grown up with this burden on her shoulder. she’s been unable to do everything’s she wanted to do. she had an inhaler with her everywhere she went. in her bag on the way to practice, work, backstage. even know she had it tucked away in her carry on bag in the pocket she could easily reach. she knows to be careful. but she appreciates the care minhee displays. and smiles as the older woman squeezes her hand. she feels surfing will be fun. and feels that if she’s precautious she’ll make it through perfectly fine. “let’s go and buy our own. maybe polka dots. pineapples.”

“lunch sounds like the perfect thing to do. we don’t want to be hungry before surfing. she looks over the menu that minhee’s just pulled up on her phone. “yeah. looks perfect. authentic. you can lead the way. you haven’t gotten us lost yet.”

suwei has grown up sheltered. her birth and resulting health issues heavily playing into her parents protective nature. the thought of traveling alone was foreign to her. the farthest she’s traveled with family has always been within driving distance. before traveling to china to audition she’s never been out of the country. and had she never auditioned for dimension she may still have never traveled out of the country. traveling with a friend though may have been more plausible than traveling solo. and she was going to make the most out of this two day trip. 

“i would love to surf. i never got a chance to surf in hawaii. but we should totally do it.” with minhee she felt she was invincible.and while yes her asthma was always a threat she hoped today would be fine. “wetsuits don’t have to be all that bad. maybe we can find one with a cute pattern. and we can match.” smiling as minhee got increasingly more excited talking about the days plans.”we should definitely do lunch first. we don’t want to get hungry during the day. and i would love try prawns.”

“if you’re sure. you have to be careful,” minhee gently nags. but she’s smiling all the while, delicately squeezing suwei’s hand. she doesn’t say anything more. it’s not her place. suwei is an adult, and minhee trusts that she knows her own limits. “but it should be fun! ah, you’re right,” minhee claps her hands together, imagining the pair of them in cute patterned matching wetsuits. “ooh, what kind of pattern do you want? aren’t they usually floral patterned at best?” but that’s okay, flowers will do. “or! or! or! if there’s a shop, we can pick a couple out to buy! they’ll have cuter ones available to buy than they will to rent, won’t they? like, brand name ones? it’ll be my treat!”

“prawns it is then!” minhee fishes her phone from her fanny pack and sets about looking up nearby restaurants. “hm, do you want to eat now then? before we go do anything else?” minhee stops in her tracks and holds her phone up to suwei. the screen is open on the menu of a well reviewed seafood place a couple of streets away. “this place looks nice, right? and it’s not too far away, so i don’t think i’ll get us lost on the way!”

Think about the first time you met your sibling. How has your relationship with them grown since then?

i feel that while our relationship has changed it wasn’t that hard to connect with minhee. we may have been a little more nervous when we first met. but we are definitely comfortable with each other. almost as if we were real siblings.

Do you feel you’ve gotten to know your sibling better over the course of the show?

yes. i believe that we’ve really gotten to know each other. we’ve done things that some friends may never do in their entire time of knowing each other. we’ve also shared a room multiple times in the span of a couple of months. you learn a lot about a person by staying with them. is there more room for our friendship to grow? yes. but we are more close than we were when we first started. and i feel we bring the besg out of each other.

Would you like to keep in touch with your sibling now that the show’s come to an end?

absolutely. i would love to keep in touch even after the cameras stop rolling. i feel our friendship will grow without cameras around. we’ll be able to get more personal with each other. without worrying about our worries and personal lives being aired.

You’ve already exchanged letters with your sibling, but is there anything you’d like to tell them now for them to hear when they watch the finale of the show?

i know i’ve already said this in the letter, but thank you minhee unnie. i had a great time and i would love to hang out as soon as our schedules allow it.

summary : suwei performs on our song.

eventually, suwei wants a solo career. guesting on our song was a good start. in the last few months she’d been making a name for herself. as in suwei not wei of lucid. with her love and live collab in the middle of the year and her main cast appearance on secret sibling she’s had a busy year outside of lucid promotions. she hadn’t gone solo but she was making her mark.

this performance was a sneak peek at what was to come. it was the first time fans would get to see her perform solo. up until this points she only performed with a group. whether that be with lucid or other idols.

and she loves performing with lucid but she does want to show the world what  she’d made of

she was heartbroken when her former company went under. they were bankrupt before she even had a chance to debut. ever since arriving in seoul she’s felt like an outsider. it was hard not to with the adjustments she had to make and the language barrier that left her feeling lonely.

nothing would change the fact that she’s a foreigner and that solo careers for foreigners was rare. but she would be the exception.

besides her status as foreigner she was also one of the youngest idols under the big three. her image probably didn’t help people see her as capable. but she was ready to prove them wrong.

the last few weeks of meetings and practicing would finally pay off. she had recorded her demo. pit-a-pet. a song she adored. she was proud of it. but now all she could do was wait and see what the people thought. she was ready for the backlash from netizens. there was nothing she could do to stop it. but she hoped she’d make her fans proud.

the thing she was most excited for was her performance. she sat backstage waiting for the staff to call her name. she was the first to perform and she was buzzing with excitement. she stood in her pink heart dress with the mic in hand. her stage outfit was simple and so was her makeup. it wasn't a usual stage performance so the stylist wanted to keep things simple. her cheeks were perfectly powdered and her eyelids where dusted with a light pink. a heart shaped jewel under the corner of her eye. she felt it matched the song perfectly.

with a signal from the staff she bounces out onto the stage. she takes her place at the center of the stage and starts to sing. the song comes easily. it’s a song about something she hopes to experience some day. and she hopes the fan enjoy it as much as she loved performing it. all too soon the last notes ring from the speaker and she has to wave goodbye as she exits the stage. if it was up to her she would have stayed up there longer. this was an experience she’d never forget.

she walks back to her dressing room happy and content. now she’d just have to find joy on seeing the other performances.

How have things been going with you and your partner? Were you surprised by who you were paired with?

yes i was kinda of surprised because i feel his usual sound doesn’t really match mine. jaewon is my sunbae and despite this i’ve never really spoken to before. it was our first time working together, but I feel we’ve done well working together so far.

How do you feel about the song your partner has written for you?

i love it. it matches my sound or the sound i wish to have. a style i feel matches me the most. he did an excellent job tailoring it to me.

Do you have any concerns about recording or performing the song?

no. i feel the song won’t be a challenge for me.

suwei was sad to see it all end. it was a bittersweet end to see the 18 idols gather around in the large house rented out for their last day of filming. she enjoyed having an older sister for the last 4 months. she’s made memories she’ll always cherish. she’s actually been able to travel without having to “work”. yes they where filming but it was easy for her to ignore the camera and act like it wasn’t there. she’s made a friend out of the experience. she didn’t want it to end. that was her only complaint. she wished it lasted longer.

and while she liked the idea of the bonding games she was also kind of bummed. her asthma made it hard to really compete in any of the competitons. yes she’d play but she wouldn’t be able to really give it her all. it felt she was dragging minhee down. she spent most of her time on the sidelines catching her breath afraid she’d have an asthma attack. she’s just happy that she found sooah during her break. “sooah unnie! i’m having a great time. i just needed a break.” and it wasn’t a complete lie. it just wasn’t the entire truth. “what about you? you having fun?”

This is the last time all the eighteen of them were supposed to meet for Secret Sibling, and despite really liking this project, Sooah was glad this was all coming to an end. Not because she didn’t like the show, since that was far from reality. She had visited places she didn’t expect to visit ever and was pleasantly surprised by all the experiences that brought her. All good things should end though, and Sooah is glad they are ending this with such high spirits. And by that, she means competing against each other and playing games. Sooah genuinely hopes things end well.

She needs a break at some point though cause from all things Sooah isn’t, athletic is one of them, and she can’t keep up with the rest. She’s just glad that in her need of a time out, she found Wei, too. It has been a while since she had last seen the younger girl, and Sooah still wants to get close to Lucid’s maknae. “Wei-ssi, hello,” she approaches the other with a smile as she waves her hand, “how are you doing? Are you enjoying yourself?”

to say jaewon had been nervous for the meeting had been an understatement. the pressure seemed to increase with every passing episode that they recorded and writing for someone who he hadn’t known the identity of had blindsided him, leaving him in the dark with little clue as to what the right course of action was. but now sitting across from suwei (even if virtually) a large part of the anxiety seemed to subside. he’d taken a gamble and as it seemed, it had been the right one. that was what it felt like for now at least.

“okay, great i’m glad to hear you like the song.” a hint of a relieved smile breaking through his stony, neutral expression. it was assuring to hear, at least suwei liked it, the rest would come. “odds are some minor changes will be made before we record it but don’t worry, it will just be a little bit of tweaking, nothing substantial.” tailoring the last bits to fit suwei seamlessly, making the song hers entirely. “for what it’s worth, i want you to know i feel more at ease too now we met. i have no doubt that you will be able to portray the song while and i’m glad i managed to deliver you a song you feel a connection to and that lived up to your expectations.”

suwei isn’t sure what she was expecting from the meeting. she’s never done a reality show before. she’d never performed on her own without her members a few feet away. with love & live she was again apart of a collab. this was her first time singing solo on stage. and truth be told she wasn’t nervous about it. some might say she should have been. but she’s felt was born to perform. ever since she was young it was her dream to perform. and while she wasn’t a spotlight hog she did enjoy the thought of singing solo. just her, the music and the crowd. and meeting with jaewon just solidified the idea even more. hearing the song she was going to perform made her happy.

“you did a good job oppa.” she said noticing the small smile cross his face. it brought her joy to know she caused that smile. it wasn’t very hard to impress her. in taste in music is quite simple. pop. almost all 20 something year olds like pop. and she was a sucker for love songs. which was ironic. but she loved them nonetheless. minor changes where fine by her. she liked the thought of someone tweaking a song to fit her perfectly. “me to.” a lie. “just know you have no reason to be nervous. have faith in your ability to create for others.”

What kind of song do you hope to be given to record and perform?

i want a song that is warm and loving. a song with an upbeat sound. a happy and bright song. maybe a love song.

Would you rather the idol songwriter who is writing for you take your opinion into consideration or do you believe they’ll know best?

i feel that the songwriter should do what they feel is best. in the case of the song being written i feel for the songwriter to be fully judged is for them to have full control over the song. if we are looking for one artist interpretation then that artist should know know to portray it. if it were a collab then i feel both artists should have their opinions considered.

Out of all of the idol songwriters in the cast (Silhouette’s Youngjoo, Knight’s Taeyong, Origin’s Joohwan, Fuse’s Suji, Unity’s Jaewon, and Element’s Sun), is there one you feel you’d work with the best due to their usual style? If so, why?

suji. her style is the one i can see performing the best. and it’s not to say i don’t love the style of the other songwriters, but that i feel i wouldn’t do it justice.
