Also I have just realized, I have been spelling accessibility wrong in my tags. And that’s just embarrassing. 😂

So I use Shotcut as my video editor.

When I had it on my laptop, it worked fine, not great, but it ran.

Now I downloaded it on my new PC, but it is unbelievably slow. Like can’t even hardly use it. And it crashes sometimes. Haven’t had this problem with anything else, so I don’t think it’s the PC itself.

Anyone out there, who knows more than I do, that could possibly tell me how to fix it?

I can’t work well while she’s laying on me, because I can’t lean in close to see the monitor. But also, who am I to tell her to get up.

First video!

It has been a long time coming. I’m so excited to finally have something up on the channel. It is not 100% finished, I do plan to go add manual subtitles, that just takes way longer than I thought it would, but I am obviously glad to do it.

This video is also way longer than expected, and plan to do shorter videos in the future so I can get them out faster.

I have finally gotten my own PC!

I am very excited to be able to start working on videos again.

First video will still be Stardew Valley. Other than that I can’t wait to finish Zelda - Breath of The Wild, and try The Last of Us 2 with all of its amazing accessibility options.

Any other game suggestions?

These are all of my thoughts as I watched Apple TV’s See this week. I was kind of tweeting as I went on Twitter. So this is just all those, copy and pasted together.

So I decided to start watching See on Apple TV this morning.

Only like half way through. And it’s, uh, interesting.

First of all, I always find it ironic when stories about blind people make you read to get some or all of the details.

I know that most of the cast and crew were blind, which is amazing. But still, first part of the show, read about how we got here. Lol

So I am watching this show on my iPad. And I couldn’t remember / really understand the names of the characters and stuff when they said them, so I turned on subtitles. So now here I am, a visually impaired person, watching a show about the blind, with subtitles on. Lol

Quick shoutout to Apple though, for all of the subtitle and audio description options they have for so many different languages. But also have to be honest, only have AppleTV right now because I got a free trial.

So I forgot about what the show said at the beginning, explaining about how we got to where we are, until I was telling a friend about the show.

I know this came out in 2019, but I think I’m just going to ignore the fact that this blind world was caused by a virus.

In my opinion, since even before 2020, there were so many pandemic plots, I think this should’ve just been an AU situation or something.

(If you don’t speak fan fiction lol, AU stands for alternate universe.)

Being stuck in the cave and not having light is interesting. I would think that a sighted child growing up in a blind society would still develope skills that blind people use. Like being able to navigate without light. But maybe not, maybe I’m wrong.

Are they using real ASL for the blind when they communicate without talking, or is it just made up?

I do know some ASL myself, but not for the blind, so I can’t tell.

Either way, it is neat that they do have a solution for nonverbal communication.

So I finished it.

Obviously all fantastic representation.

But I don’t know if this story was for me, wasn’t my favorite.

I think there is supposed to be a season 2, but got delayed because of COVID. I’d probably watch it. If not just for all the really cool fight scenes.

I was worried, for quite a bit of it, it seemed that the message was that vision is “better”, but I thought that couldn’t be right. But now I understand that I have seen all of it.

I am curious to know how they did their casting.

It is not my place to go in-depth on this topic, but I felt the cast was very diverse.

And I think a show about a blind society is the perfect time to do true color blind casting.

Oh, 1 more thought.

I don’t know if it was controversial that 2 of the actors that played main characters weren’t actually blind, but no matter what, I think they did an excellent job.

If anyone is actually interested in my thoughts on blind representation in media, I would gladly do this again.

Could do Toph in Avatar, or In The Dark, or any other suggestions.

Well, how lung has it been? A month?

Sorry to all of my, 0 followers, lol. I was almost done editing my first video, but then life happened, and I didn’t and still won’t have access to a computer for some weeks. Now that things have settled, I can start working on at least finishing that first video again and I should be able to post it soon. Also I am possibly in the process of getting my own PC.
