whenever i look at a full moon i always always think about how it’s such a unique experience in that, every single human in all of history looked at the exact same thing, and how incredible and unique that is to just the moon. any other feature has been changed so much over time that the coastline i may look at is no longer the same coastline people 10,000 years ago looked at in the same spot. but the moon is the same everywhere in the world and it’s almost incomprehensible to me that i’m looking at the exact same object, exactly how it appeared, in the same context, as thucydides did, how xerxes did, how cleopatra did, how lucy the australopithecus did. like it makes me insane
