Another fish jacket?! Another fish jacket <3
This time I tried flat felled seams for the sleeves which was fun and it totally didn't almost kill my sewing machine.

Light trap lamp! The moths are paper, and the mantis is a plastic toy. The idea was suggested to me by a friend because I had this plain shade and nothing to use it for. More moths will be added in the future to fill the sides

This absurd yarn is 45% cashmere, 55% silk. I have never worked with anything even remotely like it - no cashmere, no silk, and definitely nothing so thin as 92 wraps per inch. Ninety fucking two.
New, it originally cost 拢200/kg. A very, very kind weaver in Scotland was de-stashing and sent me 5 kilos for 拢50 total (plus shipping).
I have many dreams for it but right now I mostly have screams. I have no real idea how it will behave in weaving, so I've wound a small warp for some sampling and a scarf. This is 3.5km of yarn (a bit over 2 miles) and it weighs 119 grams (a bit over 4 ounces?). For those of you playing along at home, each 1kg cone is thus 30 kilometres of yarn (nearly 20 miles). It does not feel like any other yarn I have ever touched.

Because it's so thin (difficult to handle or even see) and so valuable, I am using it with a "dummy warp" - I have left the remains of the baby blanket warp on the loom and then I tie the new warp to it, thread by thread by single fucking thread. This means I don't have to set up the loom all over again and almost none of the fancy yarn will become "loom waste", the unweaveable section of warp at the end of a project. But it also means tying every knot, perfectly in order for each end of both the old and new warps, without the cat getting too interested.

24 knots down, a mere 1000 to go...

I picked up an Ashford Country Spinner recently for chunky yarns and decided she needed a personal touch!
Tumblr media
I鈥檝e named her Ava.
She currently has 15 warbler species and a Hermit Thrush completed, but I鈥檒l be adding more on other surfaces little by little! I went with a heavily simplified, pretty stylized style and I鈥檓 loving how it鈥檚 turning out.
The next few I鈥檓 working on are all 4 species of North American nuthatches on each side corner

Knit + felted slippers for Kayla :) the process is so funny .. you knit a big udderlike shape then tuck one of the long pieces into the other and sew up the back, then once you have both slippers knit you throw them in the washing machine for like two hours. I've included pics from someone else's project vid to get across how odd they look before felting

But they end up much more neat and smooth looking!
pattern is Nr 3 Doble t酶fler by Liv Stangeland on ravelry, free but a little sparse

i had a restful and restorative saturday where i slipped all social obligations and assembled a wonky future wall hanging. i want to have a hand quilting project (see second image for quilting ideas) and this is a nice portable 2'x3' size. i think it will end up being ugly but that's okay.
this was my first time piecing blocks with curves! i was very brave! also all the dark blue is slightly stretchy corduroy and it is nigh unironable and this sucker needs to be steamed
