Book 3 in the Mary Poppins series. I adored the movie when I was young and also enjoyed the recent Saving Mr. Banks movie. The book has fun illustrations on the cover as well as throughout the text. What's your favorite part from the series? Mary Poppins Opens the Door - 1943 edition http://www.amazon.com/shops/grandmabetsybooks

Being a crafty person myself I am so loving this old how-to book that covers everything from sewing to painting. It is “The Manual of Fancy Work” after all :)
I crochet a lot and got such a kick out of the crochet section especially the first line, and the detailed illustrations are so pretty throughout the book. It’s surely the Pinterest of its day!

I did a double take when I saw the spine of this book… Any other Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans see what I’m talking about? ;)
The imagery is so graphic and dark it’s so cool to look at.

"Long, long ago all the animals were friends..." So cute yet realistic looking characters in this adorable kids story book from 1946. Some were colored like the back inside cover. Brings back memories of reading Winnie-the-Pooh for the first time. :) The Tiger and the Rabbit - 1946 http://www.amazon.com/shops/grandmabetsybooks

From the last page:
"If you have followed the author’s directions, you will have good wine. Good wine is intriguing. But don’t be intrigued. Just enough wine is health, and strength, and pleasure; drunk to excess it is lethal."
Can’t really argue with that logic :)

It was the vibrant detailed red binding with gold gilt that first made this book stand out to me, then to learn it was a French Jules Verne novel from 1908 made it even more special!
20,000 Leagues was my one of my favorite stories when I was young, and still is. What’s your favorite Jules Verne tale?

A few months ago we received the entire book collection from the Xerox PARC library. It was being decommissioned so we have hundreds of books to go through that include old manuals, engineering texts and science related topics. So neat to go through, check the Amazon account for what’s currently available and check back as more get listed!
