âI- there may have been a couple informal questions asked of Chakwas. But just a few!â Was her reluctance admittance. There was only so much she could learn when attempting to rely upon informational vids for facts. Even worse was any attempts to peruse the extranet for pertinent information. âMostly about human holidays and colloquial. And⊠well perhaps occasionally about other things.â
But that much she wasnât willing to admit to, what concerns she held for Shepardâs health. The Commander was a rather busy man, tasked with more than Tali thought was reasonable. And yet, he willingly went out of his way to take care of what he had been assigned to, steadfast in his determination. It was admirable, if a bit worrying. They all had a vested interest in this war, and with each colony world that had grown dark in the shadow of the Reapers, the reality of what was at stake became more prominent. This wasnât a burden Shepard ever needed to carry alone. Â
As such, the quarian was a little surprised when the Commander so freely took her advice, even suggesting that she should join him from a break of responsibilities and duties. It was tempting, peaceful respite was a luxury few could often afford, and it was even rarer to see Shepard not engaged in his work or the crew. How long had it been since Tali had held company with him?
Blinking, she shook the thoughts aside, quickly moving to catch up with the long strides of the Commander. What attempts she made to temper the excitement within her voice failed, bright eyes shifting to cast a side glance in his direction, âAnd where will we go?â
âAre you POSITIVE about that, Tali?â Shepard persisted, bumping his shoulder against hers in a playful nudge. She was in fact correct concerning his work and rest habits. They both knew so, but then again they also were aware of his stubborness. It was his way.
There were times when he realized how often the rest of the crew worried over him as well. Ironically, that was a worry of his own. But between the nagging and constant checking in, there was a network of MUTUAL nagging to balance it all. He reasoned their current conversation was a product of such.
And Maker, did he appreciate it.
Shepard gave a labored sigh, boots clapping against the floor as he made strides for the door.
âWell, come on then, we might as well take a break together.â

According to the Codex, part of the reason quarians wear their suits even aboard their sterile ships is due to lack of personal space. I presume that is part of the reason their helmets are not transparent. (Other than Bioware wishing to not show their faces.) As for seeing through them, I would speculate that their eyes work a bit differently, perhaps, than humans. At least, enough that they produce a glow and possibly in a manner that allows them little trouble to see through their own tinted helmets.
They do not have any means of IDing one another. The Codex also mentions that âBecause their suits make it hard to identify individuals on sight, quarians have developed the habit of exchanging names whenever they meet.â

(x)
I canât imagine why quarians wouldnât make their helmets transparent? Can they see well through them? And wouldnât they have an easier time identifying each other if they could see their faces? (Ok maybe they have some way to ID each other that I havenât picked up on, but wouldnât it be easier for other races to recognize their friends?)

âN-no! I didnât get it from Chakwas.â Tali swatted as his hand playfully, if also a little flustered, freckled nose wrinkling as he attempted to ruffle the fabric of her hood. âI know about things⊠a little.â
Such as how the Commander appeared to have a hard time acknowledging the role he played in keeping the crew together. How it was his determination that inspired others to follow him, to put aside differences in pursuit of a common goal.
In him, she had fond some hope. That maybe it was possible there would be a future beyond this war. Beyond the overreaching shadow of the Reapers.Â
âYes, quarians do. But Iâve been getting plenty of rest between shifts in engineering.â For the most part, at least. But then, under present circumstances, Tali felt most of the crew struggled with the lingering nightmares and restless uncertainties. âHowever, Iâm not certain Iâve ever seen you stop to take much of a break.â
âIf weâre being honest, I really think it wasnât that I put you all together. I think you found ME and couldnât stand letting me loose on the galaxy in good conscious,â Shepard bantered, though completely believed in his words. Though years had passed since the core members of his crew had come together, the Commander never ceased to be baffled over the fact such he had met such an array of people â let alone the fact they each held such loyalty for him.
Ruined lips tugged upwards into a smile, the appearence of jagged scars softened with the change. Her concern was nothing new, more often than not he would recieve at least a dozen of the same reminders throughout the day. However, none were so amusingly t h o r o u g h. He lifted a wide hand to ruffle at her hood.
âAnd did you get that from Chakwas, or did you download up a How to Train Your Human Commander handbook?â He teased, adding a moment later, âbut you know Iâm sure Quarians need around the same amount of care and rest.â

Tali didnât envy the amount of responsibilities that had fallen upon the Commander, nor the delicate political maneuvering he was tasked with. She was barely accustomed to what new duties being on the Admiralty Board entailed, let alone what ambassadorial tasks she ran between her people and the Citadel. But it had given her a new-found respect for what Shepard did, and worry for his well-being.
âYou seem to be good at big, mismatched puzzles. I think the diversity of the crew you keep speaks to that.â Her head tilted as she gazed up at him, voice softening. âBut I do hope youâre making sure to take care of yourself too. Humans require ample amounts of food, water, and sleep, you know.â
Or at least thatâs what her research between vid viewings of Understanding Body Language: Human Edition and Human Courtship and Mating had said. Even though she had been a crew member aboard the Normandy for some time, there were still some particulars about humans she found puzzling. In this, at least, they were similar.
âIf you say so,â and he left it at that, his head shaking. Still, he managed a small smile of his very own. Leave it to his crew to keep him on his toes.
He lifted a datapad from his desk, a physical reminder of the task he had ahead of him.
âTrying to coordinate the allies we have so far â itâs like         one big, mismatched puzzle.â

âSorry, Shepard. I wasnât intentionally trying to startle you.â A note of amusement warmed her voice, bright gaze dimming behind the tinted visor, hiding the smile she offered. âJust... checking up on you. Seeing how you are doing.â

I really, really miss your Tali. She was perfect! And I enjoyed reading your posts a lot. Especially your shali ones. Jace and Tali had amazing chemistry. It was my favorite ship. :<
ooc: Thatâs really sweet of you to say, thank you very much!
Although I do still log on occasionally to check on a few favorite RPers, Iâve been on an indefinite hiatus from merp. Jace and Tali are still ongoing though, as I never stopped writing with my partner. It's just turned into Skype RPing and exchanging stories.
Seeing this message made me smile. Thank you again! It's nice to be remembered. c:

Youâre such a sweetie, I adore you and your muse so much. Before I made Malcolmâs blog, I really did follow a lot of ME RPers via my old personal and your posts made/make me extremely happy. To be honest, the character you RP was always one of my favorites in-game, but I felt she never got enough time for me to really understand who she was. Reading through your blog fixes that for me.Â
No matter how long youâre away, or how short our conversations (IC/OOC) are, Mal and I will always have a spot for you in our hearts.
Oh!
And congratulations again, Iâm still super excited for you.

"Well... I had kind of just assumed that perhaps it was James. Given previous habits, but ah- the leg joints don't look to be too damaged. A little rewiring and resetting the joints is likely all that will need to be done."
"He broke Kei-9âs leg?!"

"Yes, it looks like one of it's mobile joints has locked up. Uncertain how that happened. But I don't imagine it will be difficult to repair. Possibly even without an altered gait."
"So sheâll be fine? Sheâll get back up again?"
