John had a troubled childhood and if he gave it more mere thought he was sure it was where a lot of his commitment issues stemmed from, a Father who taught him that he wasn’t worthy of love and that he’d kill anyone who got close to him. He was always quick with a joke to steer the conversation off him before it got too deep too personal, that he was great at. ”Don’t tell me you’ve become a mind reader now Zee. I’ll never be able to escape you” He smirked shooing her a wink as she bumped him causing a laugh to spill out from his lips. “They were creepy and the type of toy to attempt to steal your soul while you slept, but I can imagine it now, Kid Zee and the greatest fight of her young life”

“I mean...technically.” she shrugged. She could, with enough power, read minds. But it always left her terribly drained and she thought of it as a form of invasion. She’d only ever done it one time and had hated the feeling afterward. Like bugs crawling all over her. She showered five times a day for two weeks straight before that feeling went away. “At the very least...I can read your mind.” she smirked, moving to stand in front of him. She leaned into him, and squinted her eyes playfully before nodding. “Yup. Got it. I totally know.”  she whispered to him. “Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone.”

Savannah had snuggled closer to him thankful he had dropped the issue but that had lasted less than 10 minutes into the show they were watching and he was back to prying. She loosened her grip on him and looked behind her to make sure that his parents weren’t around. “I know - and you’re wonderful really, it’s a me thing…an insecurity….I just feel like your mom’s don’t like me and I just feel like i’m not - “ she struggled for the words. “I want to be a good girlfriend.” 

Amanté took a moment to answer her. He didn't want to straight lie to her. But it was simply more complicated than his moms not liking her. They thought she was fine. She just wasn't Florence. He thought they'd been a bit more discreet about it. Apparently not. He frowned. "Hey, if something bothers you, then it bothers you. It's not your fault. They're just...stuck in old habits. And that's their problem. " he said to her, touching her face lightly so she'd look at him. "I'll talk to them. But what they think of you shouldn't matter ok? You're not a good girlfriend. You're a great one. And I -" he stopped himself a moment, only a second of hesitation. "I like you. A lot. That's all that matters isn't it? What we feel for each other?" he asked her.

          The thought of food pulled Jai from his lustful mindset, instead giving his mind a different insatiable hunger to focus on. “I’ll take both.” It would have been a waste for her to put all the grilled cheese ingredients away after just getting them out. By requesting both he was helping, or at least that was how he justified it to himself. His thoughts were swiftly interrupted by Yara’ actions, eyes moving between the jelly that laced the tip of her finger and her mouth. Reminding himself to close his jaw, he moved forward towards her. “I’d love some.” His eyes met hers with the same daring spark. 

"Both it is." Yara tried her best to not show how much she was enjoying this. She may have been one of the most powerful women on the planet, but that paled in comparison to how powerful she felt when Jai watched her. Like a man starving, and she was a four course meal. He moved closer to her, eyes locking onto hers. She remained strong, even as her heart raced at the proximity. "Well...come and get it then." she gestured. A challenge. But she wasn't sure if she was even talking about the food anymore.

         “Right,” Florence shook her head. “No, you’re right. I’m sorry, I wasn’t trying to start anything.” She had been seeking comfort, specifically the comfort provided by Amanté. It was something she had clearly taken for granted previously. He had always been her safe space, but times had changed. She wasn’t allowed to seek the things she used to from him anymore. That was a fact she was still adjusting to. “Yeah, I get it. I’m sorry. It was stupid. I shouldn’t have said anything. Can we forget about it and just get food?”

"Hey I know you weren't. It's okay. This whole situation is....new." he tried to make her feel better about it. "Trust me, it's still hard not to wake up every day and not call you first thing." Since around middle school he would always call her in the morning. It was hard for him to see her some days due to his excessive amount of extracurricular. So Mornings are when they would talk as they got ready for school, plan out their days. It was their time. It took him putting his phone in another room in the beginning. To delay that ache in his chest when he couldn't. "So don’t. Don’t say that. It's not stupid. If it is then we're stupid together." he smiled down at her. It was small, and a little sad. But it was a smile. "Yeah. I know a place." he nodded for her to follow him. And while they didn't hold hands, he didn't place his in his pocket, savoring the moments they would brush against hers.

Kori had always enjoyed Donna's company. They were very similar, though Kori maybe had a bit more of a wild side. But they were strong, independent woman in love with men who...well were complicated to say the least. "Yes and no. I am in need of the talking of girls." the alien answered. "It is about Richard. He has been acting quite strange. I am worried our shared moonlight has complicated our relationship and he may be having regrets of it." she frowned. "Has he spoken to you about it?"

“Kori-” he protested, trying to take the rag from her as he turned with a sigh. Moonlight was trickling in through the blinds, illuminating her alluring features now that she was so close. “There’s nothing to talk about” Dick was quick to assure her, shrugging it off. “You’re sweet to want to but…Some things aren’t so easily or quickly put right, you know?” It would take a little bit of time to move on but it wasn’t as though Dick hadn’t found a way to do it before. It would be harder with her still here, though. A constant reminder of what he’d lost. “Are you going to re-join the team now that you’re back?” 

Kori frowned, knowing he was lying. "Then maybe I can still help. Please speak with me. Friends do not lie, that's what you once said right?" she pressed on. If it was one thing Kori learned in her years with him, is that Dick would take the world on his shoulders before letting a single one of his friends have a bad thought. He switched the subject and she sighed. "I did not put much thought into it truthfully. But I would be honored if you and the team would have me back. If that was what you wished." she told him with a nod. "I know my absence has made things complicated but..I want things to return as they were." She locked eyes with him, reaching out to touch his hand again. "All things.." she trailed off looking up a him. “But I understand if that will not be easy....or something that you want..”

John liked moments like this, in truth, it was almost enough to make him wish he could live that domestic life with Zatanna like he wasn’t always going to be the one to screw everything up when it came down to it. His life had taught him early on that he wasn’t worthy of love, his father ensuring he never forgot the sin he’d committed by being born, then to all the people who seemed to be caught up in his death curse. It wasn’t a life he wanted for the woman he loved, she was much too good for the likes of him but it didn’t stop him from wishing that wasn’t true. “Luv, it’s fine, I know our childhoods were different, besides it’s the past” He mused before looking at the other “Catholic boarding school, do you still have that little uniform? I just think I need to see it to believe it” He smirked looking at her before chuckling “Hells bells those things are creepy!! Surely you can see how having a little robot baby would’ve one day risen up and killed you in your sleep right?”

John told Zatanna it was fine. And it probably was. It's been years since she'd been a child, and even more so for him. Still, a small frown tugged on the edge of her lips. She wished there was something, anything she could do to help. She was pulled from the dark part of her mind, the part that held her bleeding heart, as John joked with her. She felt herself lighten a bit. "In your dreams Constantine." she rolled her eyes, bumping into him jokingly. "They were adorable! And it certainly would not have....even if it I knew how to take care of myself."

Dick’s brows furrowed as she waved off whatever it was she had been about to say and he made a mental note to ask her again later before heading out to wait for Zatanna. “I…didn’t get that far” he admitted with a sheepish grin, turning to face her. She looked amazing (not that he could say he had ever seen her look bad) but Dick thought it best to keep that thought to himself. “Wasn’t sure that you would say yes” he explained, offering up his arm for her. “What are you in the mood for? We can get your favourite?” he offered, down to eat wherever they wound up. He was just relieved that they could still be friends because losing Zatanna wasn’t something Dick could overcome. 

Zatanna laughed as he admitted he didn't think he'd get this far. "Why on earth would I say no?" she asked him curiously. It wouldn't be the first time they'd went out as friends. "hmm I'm not sure. There's a ton of restaurants up the block though. Maybe we can just walk until something feels right?" she asked him. "There's something I want to talk to you about too. Get your opinion on." she said to him. "John's stationed in the city again. I think he wants to try and get back together." she told him.
