@vcndetta - Bella Swan for Charlie Swan !
THE WORN COPY of Wuthering Heights rests beside her, curriculum giving her another excuse to fall back within the restless folds of the novel. A pen in hand, a permanence, she occasionally scrawls annotations across it - only to put it down as she goes in for a sip of her tea, only for that in turn to knock down as she misses the handle on it. The murky liquid drags across the counter of the diner. She looks up apologetically, grabbing hold of a stack of napkins when she realises the drink is about to spill near the elbow of a stranger. 'My book - clearly so good it's driven me to distraction,' she attempts to speak with humour, wiping down. 'Sorry if I got you.'

EYE'S CREASING WITH levity at the question presented, Sophie took a tentative step forward to the other. 'I never have - but there is a first for everything,' she answered, finding there to be something new in most corners of the city. She tried to delight in them when invited to. 'So please, do let me see.'
@forgottenelegies for an extremely super late starter
"Have you ever seen a snake roll over?" Ban Yue asks. "Would you want to?" They've been teaching Timothy the garden snake tricks and wants to test out how well he's doing. She always thinks everything the snakes do are good so they need another opinion.

'SO LONG AS you were comfortable with that, then. It's certainly a sign of your value if they'd simply...seek you out,' spoke Sansa, dropping into a murmur with the last words. She was half amused by the mental image of it; an innocuous home, put upon for business by those seeking his particular skills. And as he proved, at least, it created quite a harbour of respect. 'I suppose as well, if the matters aren't broadcast, it helps with the investigation more.' Things could often be best done in private; the goal achieved more if less knew you to be seeking it. 'Oh, already it's proven quite the informative visit.'
IN A WAY, listening further to his explanations, Sansa found she could easily correlate his - approachability -for those seeking his services so publically, to the behaviours back home. Perhaps him being approached in an open space was nothing more than his equivalent of audiences, albeit rather less organised. 'One must think a doorstop almost feels intrusive, even if it is your office also,' she remarked, adding on, 'Though I feel with the style of cases you take on, they might be more after privacy.' Though sometimes by baring a thing in the public, it went even more unnoticed, a nonchalance coating the exterior. She settled into the seat, making herself comfortable and unlaying her bag a little. 'Thank you.'

HER ATTENTION WAS drawn easily by the mention of jewellery - though she keptt her chin deftly pointing up, not quite allowing herself to be won over so easily. 'Do you have any samples of your jewellery?' Maysilee queried, interested in taking a look over in case any of the designs caught her fancy. 'I can be quite particular.'
"Well, we do all kinds of things. Weapons, armor, jewelry as well. Jewelry's been a hot commodity. Also, can do iron fencing, nails, anything involving iron, silver, metals and such." Kili explained

@mcrcki - Bella Swan for Victoria !
THERE IS A shift in Bella's stomach as she catches sight of a blazing visage rounding the corner towards her, the sort of downward lurch that then decides to take root there for some time. There is an inextinguishable quality to the hair, and indeed, to the woman it caresses, that only furthers the unease she feels. Never is it a good feeling - but she knows she has the feeling too often, though this one feels a little more heightened than the sort she gets when stuck in gym classes. Stood still for half a second too long, her gut bites at her to take action, and she makes a move to walk quickly past. Half a second, again, too late, though - her shoulder making contact with the other as she attempted to move past. It hurts more than expected. She stops, rubbing her shoulder. 'Sorry,' she blurts out quickly enough, unsure entirely how to proceed next. 'Obviously there's such a thing as being too in a rush. Dangerous streets...'

SANSA DRANK FROM her own glass with a dismality following that, able to understand the awful feeling the everything-and-anything dreadfulness quite well when she reflected on certain times in her life. Though she had always tried to perceive certain parts through self-told veils of hopes and lies, the truth had always cut clean as a knife in the whispers to herself under those. 'Tomorrow we might see if there's anything at least in the everything we can work on to make things better for you,' she offered hopefully. 'But yes. That's one consolation - some might say the taste heals all wounds, at least for a while.'
"I think anything and everything. So in general" BC said with a shrug. "At least the alcohol taste great."

'OH.' IRIS SOFTLY went, pausing in the street for a moment as he confessed a little bit. It was a quiet statement but she could feel the weight of it even so, and her jaw jutted out as she contemplated it. 'That's always a cruel thing for a person to feel. I'm sorry,' she spoke, her feet fidgeting on the ground. Touching against her collarbone, she knew that the words of the present could not necessarily heal the past. But even so, they could try and improve the future. Straightening up best she could, she echoed him. 'Free like a bird. Just like that. The past can be like bad smoke clogging up the air - but it feels a little bluer here. So let your wings flap.'
Forced? That's the best word for it. Wen Ning was sick before he died and everyone picked on him and disliked him for that. Then because of his surname Wen, everyone hated him and had to go into hiding with his clan and when he was brought back and was Wei Wuxian's Ghost General, that gave people even more reason to distrust and fear him. "Where I'm from. . .wasn't kind to my clan." Wen Ning admits quietly. At least here. . .no one cares about the veins or the chains. And no one bats an eye at the name Wen. "Free like a bird?" He asks, having never thought of it like that before.

THE GLARE DID amuse her - there had always been a part of her, initially, a little riled by the snide perspective Louella and Haymitch had as they allied themselves away from her and Wyatt in those first hours, but she knew better than to let that get the better of her, even then. Or so she liked to think. He did always like to offer her up such glares like that, and tapping her fingers against the table, she simply let it roll by as she smiled all too mannerly in response. 'When your wishes happen to dismiss mine, I like to think I'll put myself priority,' she uttered, before raising a brow. They had plenty history in insulting one another, and that never seemed too terrible, but this was quite frankly something else in her books. 'You don't like me being here - well, I don't like this.'
pushing aside the blinds that closed off the kitchen to the living room via the window space, haymitch leveled her with a glare. he should've known that she would put herself before any of his wants. it didn't mean he was going along with it right now. looking her over, he saw the similar features from before, slightly changed with the time as he knew his own were. she looked different, she looked the same, it was a paradox that he was not mentally prepared to deal with and discuss right now. "can't you respect my wishes for once?"

IT WAS ELOISE, and yet Sophie's heart sank as she realised it was not, in a way, her Eloise - this one looked older than the girl she had known, so it did seem impossible to her that she would not remember her. Identity had always been a tangle in her relationship with the Bridgerton family, but she thought it rather obvious still who she was. She tried to compose her face - throat tightening past a wobble, nose breathing in, lips tugging. But there it was. Since seventeen, and the Eloise she had known was older than that. 'I admit I was quite worried there that my identity had lapsed entirely from you,' she admitted, though still not entirely relieved. Unknown, still, she was. 'But you have come from before my time, since before we met. The name is Sophie - only fair you learn that since I know so much of you.'
These moments were ones that Eloise always dreaded, encountering someone from Other Eloise's future, the Eloise who had remained in nineteenth century London when Eloise had found herself in twenty-first century America. She fixed as polite a smile on her face as she could manage as she geared herself up to be the recipient on disappointment. "I'm hard to miss, it seems." She laughed. "But yes, I am Eloise." But who was this? If only Kate was there to help her, to whisper a name in her ear so she wasn't completely lost. "You'll have to forgive me. I've been here since I was seventeen, so I've developed a habit of running into people that I haven't met but have met me."

A WAY OF business that Aurora rather thought she could respect; there was a lot to be gained with holding wider court with all your guests and hearing their perspectives. Besides, she did think it offered a certain warmth to the place, a homliness. 'That's a very open way of doing things,' she responded with a upturn of her lips, picking the burger up for another bite. 'I have a feeling surely the feedback must normally be positive.'

Bob couldn't help but smile at the other and gave a nod. "Is that so? Well, thank you! I am glad the meal is to your liking. I just like to come out on my downtime and ask the customers for any feedback, new suggestions, things like that."

BELLA SLOUCHES BACK as it is taken, half-pleased by how succinctly the experience could go; purse returned, a brief thanks, and she could at this point have already raised half an arm to wave an odd goodbye before going on her way. Less time fending through the mires of stilted conversation with a stranger. But, just as she starts to go, something pulls her back to the scene - and she initiates. 'No worries. Someone would've found you anyway though,' she speaks, concluding with, 'I've not seen your name before.'
Tumblr media
she'd noticed a familiar scent in the crowd around her, and their head had been turning to try and track down the source, confirm if it was actually who they'd thought. but her mother finds them first, not that that actually matters, considering the complete lack of recognition in her eyes. even grown, she thinks she still looks enough like their parents to raise suspicion. "...right, thanks."

SHE HAD GROWN too old for such stories, and yet, she had grown wearily old with the realisation that sometimes, such horrors, or at least back home, varying equivalents, were true. Her perception from Washington, however, upon first learning of creatures like vampires, was that they were tales deeply enjoyed - nay, loved even. They were naive perspectives, and yet she half wished she was not barriered from enjoying the fantasy. 'You've been reading one too many novels, I daresay,' she jested, though knowing the city, might as well add vampires to the roster of real things. 'Though maybe I should keep my neck distanced from you, just as a precaution,' laughed Sansa.

WHILST NOT NECESSARILY so creative a type herself, Sophie was enjoying hearing their process; it made her think of the better parts of home, reminded her of Benedict's talent and the way he so clearly captured his emotions through sketches of his family. She spoke, 'It's where the most honest music lies, I suppose. It'll make people feel all the more deeply whilst listening, yes.'.
"Yeah, I mean of course it's nice to sing about other things, but mostly we put our emotions while writing and singing, I know everybody been through the same and they can reflect themselves in these songs" Theo explained.

PEOPLE MAKING PROMISES they would most certainly keep had proved a touch problematic for Aurora in the past; particularly if that promise extended to their kin's mindset. Still, at least in the case of the other, it just seemed - tenacious in a way that suited her that evening. 'Remind me to not get on your bad side then,' she mused with a smile, her own hope fulfilled. Taking one last look behind her shoulder, already feeling a good alert running amok within her, she then started to stride forward. 'The night's at our mercy now; lead the way.'
Tumblr media
"if there was only one thing you ever need to know about me? i never make a promise i can't keep." well, not on purpose anyways. there was also zero chance she was going to let anyone come in and just ruin her night. perhaps it was a bit cocky in her own mind, but she was confident nothing was ruining this night. the grin that was on her lips only grew "i like the way you think." the mischievous nature of erica's personality was beginning to shine through. "well come on, it's this way. i think you're going to like it."

'YOU DON'T KNOW the half of it,' Belinda shuddered, shoving her hands into her pockets, allowing them to play against the fabric lining the bottom of them. 'Spent about the first half of our travels demanding to go home...but he has a way of showing you the world.' She could not help but sigh contently at that, her lips lifting upwards against her better judgement. He and his box were irritating in their cleverness with that, luring her in with stories and worlds and adventures that made her realise the universe better than she thought she could ever know. 'Oh, it seems you and his box had a fun relationship also, didn't you? She was always a good old girl with me, at least.' Helpful, even, at points, even if troublesome when it came to getting her where she needed to be. 'Is gorgeous a type? Because I definitely noticed that a few times.'
"Sounds like you had a difficult start of it." Clara said. In general Belinda seemed to have mixed feelings about the Doctor, and it made sense. For Clara her time with him had been over, and her feelings had mellowed into something constant, but that wouldn't be the case for someone still expecting to see him. It stirred a small pang of jealousy, not because he had other companions, that was easy enough to come to terms with, but because she was out of time with the Doctor while Belinda was not. Maybe there would be other jealousy if she actually saw the two of them interacting, but luckily she didn't have to deal with that right now. Maybe not ever. Maybe the fact that Belinda's Doctor almost certainly looked different than the one Clara classified as hers (despite how impossible that was) would make it so it felt like nothing at all. "It may have just picked out the women because of something I said about it not being used to him bringing girls home." Clara admitted, managing to look a little sheepish. Really, what had she been thinking getting petty and trying to start a fight with his ship? "Which is a shame. I would have loved to see if he had a type." She joked, sure she would rather be laughing about the Doctor, at him a little bit, rather than any of her other possibilities.

MAYSILEE WAS GRATEFUL for him, at least - each other was a comforting statement to have, considering how often made it clear they were disinclined to be around her. Wyatt was the sort of boy who had always been on the fringes, but in his own shadowy presence, there was something she was sure she could rely on. There was a little stability in that, in someone from home who she felt she could trust. 'Newcomers stick together still, huh?' she offered out with a chuckle, before clicking her tongue at his next words. 'How astute of you to realise. Sometimes I think...that cow Drusilla...she made it seem like being a victor would a terrible fate. And I look at him and I just...maybe he has good reason to avoid us. Not that it'll stop me.' Her voice had gone slower, dipping to a lower thoughtfulness. She was glad when he mentioned Tilly, nodding with a smile at that. 'I saw her. She seems - well, anything's better for her, really.'
it scared wyatt to think that where they found themselves now was so unknown. no odds to decipher. he didn't know if he could relate what he knew of back home to the place here because it was basically another world. he'd have to build a whole new system. but at least in the meantime he would be safe here. without his family... yes, but with food to eat. a place to live. a give and take he supposed. it wouldn't be life without it, one thing he could count on for odds. he understood maysilee's uneasiness at it all, despite the way everything here felt nice and normal, the capital had been all the more spectacular looking and it was just a place of death. "we'll have each other." he didn't want to specify anymore than that, give any life to the possibility that things here could just lead to more death. not that it would change any outcome were it the case, but why give it anymore power. "i believe that would be haymitch on the not side." he wasn't quite sure what it was that gave him the impression but the haymitch he'd come across was different. haunted. "did you see that lou lou is here? her name's tilly."

A SOFTNESS CREPT up on Belinda - it was always moments like that which really tugged at her heart, reminded her of the humanity even amongst tougher moments, even if it was something so minute as a stranger telling her that, apparently, she was one of the nice ones. Something to put in the mental strength jar. 'Not sure what that says about the state of our world...but I'll take the compliment even so,' she spoke, grinning a little as she listened in. 'Exactly. A stranger's confidence is the best of all - besides, it'll come with total bias in empathising with your perspective.'
Tumblr media
zoe smiled at the other. "most people probably wouldn't bother to ask a stranger if they were okay, so it shows you're one of the nicer ones," she hadn't really experienced many people like that - she was usually one of those, her parents had raised her in a slightly unconventional way and it had left her with the need to make sure everyone around her was okay, even if they were a stranger. "that's true, you're more than likely to not run into the same person," she laughed.
