Ebony was quiet for a while longer shifting closer hiding her face in his chest. “I was here but I couldn’t find anyone, I was left alone by myself and I couldn’t get out…”
She muttered out the explanation into his chest feeling like a child admitting it out loud.
“Oh, I’m so sorry, baby,” Vincent murmured, hugging Ebony to his chest as his fingers played in her thick, dark hair. “It was just a dream; it wasn’t real. I’m here with you for real and I love you.”
The trees outside their window casted shadows that seemed to dance with the breeze and Vincent could now notice them after his eyes had adjusted. It was probably still late into the night. “You’re okay...” he soothed.
“I’m sorry for waking you… I had a really bad nightmare.”
“No no, that’s alright…” Vincent replied, wrapping his favorite blanket around his wife and placing a sweet, comforting kiss against her forehead. The room was too dark for him to see her clearly, but he managed to gently brush his fingers against her cheeks to wipe away any tears that had down her cheeks.
His voice was soft, quiet, and soothing. “It was just a dream, my love. You’re okay and you’re safe with me and it wasn’t real.”

Her big eyes looked up at Vincent for a moment before biting at her lip, he was the easiest person in the world for her to walk to yet it was still hard for her to find words in these situations.
“… I think really silly things scare me.” Was all she found as she moved curling closer to his chest.
“Nightmares are terrifying and you have every right to be scared,” Vincent whispered, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. He gently began to stroke her hair and massage his fingers into her scalp. “You can tell me, my love...”
