It's bizarre how a quasi-denialist stance on COVID is becoming the accepted one in mainstream discourse, like, questioning masks and lockdowns and asking Questions about lab leak theory as the Enlightened stance. There are more mainstream stories insisting we must take lab leak seriously and treat it as if it's basically true, even though we not only haven't turned up any more evidence for it since 2020, we've turned up more evidence that it came from animals at one specific market in Wuhan. There was a piece claiming to turn up evidence, and the evidence was...that some scientists privately mentioned it as a possibility in emails early on. It's not even partisan anymore bc I've seen liberal and leftist publications & influencers all say we need to ask Questions and insist that masks and lockdowns didn't work, or at least made people angry, and thus we shouldn't have done them
The weirdest part, though, is that most of these Reflections just...write out Donald Trump and anti-vaxxers? They talk about "scientists" giving mixed messages and about the CDC, but some of them straight up don't mention Trump, and like. I feel like if you're talking about confusing messaging about COVID, the entire response being headed by a deranged anti-vaxxer who said whatever came to his mind about how horse medicine would cure it would be a major factor to address, but apparently not! It's just public health officials who dropped the ball. Hell, it almost feels like people have started to misremember COVID to think Biden was President during the lockdowns, just another step in the strange memory holing of Trump's first term
(They mess up the basic history of events that happened five years ago, too, like how a lot of these takes talk about how "confusing" it was that they went from "masks are for medical professionals and the most at risk" to "masks for everyone"...without mentioning that wasn't a random choice, but down to a shortage of masks early in the pandemic. Literally nothing was the result of outside factors or the government, all of it was just scientists confusing us for no reason)

It's so depressing to be a German when it comes to politics right now (or ever since 1849 lol). The old mid-left SPD party has been in decline since they tried the "New Labour" shit in the late 90es under that corrupt traitor Schröder. The AfD, our party of far-right assholes, losers and conspiracy nuts, is growing and growing in momentum, having pretty much a stable majority in Eastern Germany (former GDR/DDR) already. The sensible liberal-progressive Green Party has been the target of smear campaigns by all the conservative parties and the vast majority of the media, losing votes when their ecological focus would be vital, plus their most popular politician just resigned. The far-left, which has made some gains that gave me some hope for a while, still has some odd pro-Putin elements and also suffered a splintering that drained over a third of their strength.
So that leaves our biggest party, the CDU, our conservatives. So far, they have seen the AfD as enemies out of self-interest, if nothing else, but right now they are leading the government under a guy who is staunchly pro-business and anti-charisma, alienating more and more people every day, and whose cabinet mostly represents the right wing of his party, which seems to be turning towards the AfD.
Over 50% of our electorate, all parties considered, are voting for parties that are against progress, for big business and who basically have no idea how to face the many very real challenges we are facing. And I do not see this changing any time soon... it's hard not to get depressed about it.

Do not let these milktoast muppet white men content creators convince you that we are doomed. They are selling fear and profiting off of it.
His health is failing. The cult has lost its’ momentum. The Epstein victims are actively making their case and trials will be happening, worldwide. The GOP is fighting amongst themselves about everything. Dems are winning their elections at the state and federal levels. The military is being sent to cities to then stand around and be mocked. Judges have also ruled it’s illegal for them to be sent to blue cities in the first place. Alligator Alcatraz got shut down. They’re desperate to hire people for ICE because people keep quitting. Protests are happening every week, everywhere.
We are in a very scary and chaotic time. Project 2025 is terrifying. People are being emboldened to be violent, and people are being traumatized and harmed. The country has been divided and damaged, but not beyond repair and rebuild. We will get through this, we just can’t give up and comply in advance. Don’t let the bastards get you down.

We are truly, truly glad to be reinstated. That said. We feel we must voice a comment.
Being banned was devastating. As i am sure it was for many others.
But what we saw, then, was a wave of kind, loving, and rightfully upset messages. To us, and spread on posts by every name we knew. It was truly a great warmth for our heart.
I. I can’t express how much it meant, really. To see all those people, send nice messages, be upset in our behalf, it. Thank you. Every single one of you, thank you. I don’t think we saw every one of them - i don’t think we could - but gods.
Seeing that endless care from friends, aquiantances, and people we knew was very nice.
And now we’re back, and the outpour of love has been just so, so much. Thank you, all of you, for loving me.
Have a good night. Never stop making more girls.
