The technology exists worldwide.
The history of technology is not only made of sophisticated innovations developed in advanced countries but in developing countries, also writes a daily basis to technological history, made of alternative uses and creative contributions of the techniques and devices varied.
We live in a world full of objects, whose stories go back several decades or centuries. Over time, technologies appear, become, die, are combined with each other, according to the uses given to them at all times.
Everywhere coexists new with the old, advanced with the traditional, to form a kind of contemporary palimpsest.

“Ping” prototype combines hardware and software using the Lilypad Arduino, Xbee, Facebook APIs and custom software. A bend sensor was integrated into the hood, which sensed whether the hood was lifted up or down. On the software side, custom software was written to track the use pattern such as keeping track of how long it was in either position and how many times the hood was lifted. A small vibe board was integrated into the shoulder of the garment that provided haptic feedback when you received a message from Facebook... The software also allows you to customize the tap pattern based on who is communicating with you. This allows the users to essentially create their own, invisible communication language.

...I am investigating four areas: the mechanics in the clothes we already wear, the aesthetics of the circuitry, the seamless integration of technology and clothing patterning (no small feat in this space), and how we can efficiently (cheaply) manufacture these types of products. // There are so many challenges with wearable technology from the seasonal lifecycle of the fashion industry to the limitations in current manufacturing processes.

I believe one of the opportunities for wearable technology is thinking of how tech garments can fit into a larger ecosystem and augment the experience.

Skintimacy is an interface that allows for the manipulation of electronic-based processes through touch. Depending on whom you touch, the way your bodies make contact influences the control of both analog instruments and digital setups. Taking into account the dynamic nature of skin conductivity, which varies individually, one has the possibility to create highly responsive installations.

Jennifer Darmour interview on fashioning tech:
Beauty
If we’re asking people to wear technology, it has to be beautiful. What we wear is a reflection of who we are and who we aspire to be. It becomes an expression of ourselves and allows us to communicate the things that we care about and what we believe in. We use our clothing as an outlet to express ourselves and communicate who we are and what we believe in through the things that we wear.
Meaning
Not only do our wearables have to be beautiful, but they have to be useful. They have to  make our experiences more meaningful and add value to our lives whether its solving an immediate need or simply adding delight. We strive to add meaning by making information not only glanceable, but action able too.
Periphery
Much like how the iPhone brought multitouch and direct manipulation to the masses that allowed our technology to feel much more natural and fluid, wearables mark the beginning of a technology paradigm shift that uses our senses to communicate to us ambiently so that our information and services that we interact with become less obtrusive and feel more natural in context to where we are and what we’re doing.

Arye Barnehama and Laura Michelle Berman, the founders of Melon, believe that when people improve their focus, they feel more mindful, confident, and productive. To that end, the pair developed a breakthrough technology that enables people to measure their brain activity and track their mental focus—no doctor required.

Very nice intuitive design! I want one that can be removed and placed on any bag or jacket with a built in flex sensor.
