A Tiny Accident
Alex heard Jake yell out. Alex ran back to his room, only to find Jake wasn't there.
On closer inspection, he saw Jake on the bed, but Jake had shrunk.
"What happened?" Alex said, looking incredulous.
Jake looked up sheepishly. "Remember that medallion we found yesterday? I think it has magical powers."
Alex face-palmed. "Jake..."
Jake sat down on the bed and crossed his arms. "Just because I shrank doesn't mean I don't still have a giant appetite. Bring me a cookie."
Alex felt worried, but also amused and now annoyed. "Is that really how we ask nicely now?"
"PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE?!" Jake yelled as loud as he could.
"Please what?" Alex said, leaning against the doorway, crossing his arms and smirking.
Jake rolled his eyes, but then he gave Alex his best innocent look. "Would you please bring me a cookie Alex? I'm so very hungry, and you're so awesome and strong and..."
"Okay fine. Shut up Jake." Alex went to get Jake a cookie, grinning the whole time. Hopefully the magic would wear off soon, but this could be fun until then.
When Alex got back, he gave Jake the cookie, and lay down on his bed with a book. Jake climbed on his shoulder with his cookie, and they spent the afternoon waiting for the magic to wear off.
Thanks so much toΒ @guaxinimraccoon for the commission! Everyone leave a like, say something nice, maybe even ask for a commission, or Jake will steal all your cookies. He might be small, but that just makes him more sneaky...
Commission for @fox1656 of his characters Alex and Jake!
Nothing like working on a warm, cozy g/t scene β¨
Thank you so much for commissioning me!

The Dance of the Fox and the Wolf (A Roar! Story)
The afternoon sun was warm coming through the falling leaves.
"It's kinda chilly out here, but that sun feels so gooooooood," Jake said, stretching and spinning slowly. He was only wearing a t-shirt and shorts...and one of Alex's unused jackets.
Alex trudged along after Jake. Despite the chill in the air, Alex looked slightly very uncomfortable, in his shorts and t-shirt. "Chilly? I'm roasting."
Jake looked at Alex and rolled his eyes. "Come on Space Heater, it's not that warm." Jake loved to tease Alex about his higher core temperature as often as he could.
As the two boys trudged along the trail, Jake finally found a nice sunny rock. "Oh, sweet!" Jake yelled, pulling off the jacket and laying it on the rock and laying down face first on top of the jacket. Jake...just wanted his back warmed, because he's weird.
Suddenly, the rock moved. Jake jumped up, eyes wide in surprise. "What th...?"
The "rock" turned around, and Jake and Alex could see it was some sort of crab-like creature. Its eyes reaching up on stalks from a head that looked reminiscent of a mantis. The rest of its body (aside from the rock/shell on its back) was vaguely humanoid, but of an oddly brownish color. It was naked, and it's bumpy body had a glossy sheen. Its arms were much long, and its legs were short. Almost as if the arms took length from the legs. The fingers were long and pointy. It chittered at the two boys, before finally finding its voice.
"Ahem. You insolent human. Why did you insult me?!" The creature bellowed.
Jake's face scrunched in disgust. Alex looked on, feeling apologetic, but also apprehensive and revolted.
"Yeah, we're human. But what are you?" Jake said before Alex could stop him.
"Jake, you can't just say stuff like that." Alex scolded, as he reached up and slapped the back of Jake's head.
"I was human once. I was ordained by Nature herself to protect the earth from Kalvar, but when I found him, he turned me into...this." Jake covered his ears at the sound of this horrid creatures chittering voice.
"So...were you always this ugly?" Jake said, his eyebrows scrunching in consternation.
The creature growled in response.
"Nice going, Jake," Alex said, getting into a fighting stance. "You can't just shut up for five minutes, can you?"
Jake just shrugged. "Not my fault it's ugly."
The creature attacked, going straight for Jake. As soon as it swung its claw though, Jake was gone. He had shifted into fox form and dodged with such speed, that he seemed to simply dissappear.
Alex sprang forward and punched the creature hard in the side of the head. It didn't even flinch.
Jake just laughed, before shifting back to human form. "Come on Alex, you can do better than that. I'll even give you an opening or two." Jake started darting around the creature, shifting back and forth between fox and human. "Hey ugly, I'm right here. No, over here. Come on, gotta do better than that if you wanna get me." Jake kept dodging and zipping around, laughing. The creature chittered, sounding more and more frustrated, swinging at Jake, missing each time. Alex kept trying to hit the creature, but each punch only hurt his hands more and more. Finally, Alex stopped to think and try to come up with a solution. The creature didn't seem very interested in him. He couldn't hurt it after all. It just wanted to catch Jake.
Alex watched for a moment, unsure what to do. Suddenly, Jake popped up in front of Alex, winked, and turned back to the creature. Alex knew exactly what Jake was thinking. They had practiced this routine for years. "Hey ugly."
As the creature looked at Jake, he snapped his fingers, calling up a bright flash of fire.
The creature flinched, but once the smoke cleared, Jake wasn't there. It was just Alex, his fists coated in icy gauntlets.
"Hey there," Alex said as he sprang forward and clobbered the creature right in its head. It fell backwards, and seeming to dissolve into light.
Jake looked down, disappointed. "Man, I was just starting to have fun. I still had a few things I wanted to try."
"Shut up Jake," Alex said, scratching his head. The ice leaving his hair spiked slightly, making Jake chuckle. Once Alex noticed Jake chuckling, he grinned and looked over at Jake. "Oh look, there's a soot smudge on your cheek there." Alex reached out an icy finger and poked Jake's cheek, causing Jake to shriek.
Where had that thing actually come from?
Here's the song I imagined with the fight scene:

Is That... Legal?
Jake and Alex sat in Alex's room, reading comics.
"Alex, I'm bored..." Jake whined.
"Hi Bored, I'm Alex," Alex said, not even looking up from his comic.
Jake just stared over at Alex, and then he got up and started knocking on the walls, one by one.
Alex looked up from his comic, feeling confused. "What are you doing?"
"I'm trying to see which of these walls is the fourth wall." Jake says, now looking at you. "Oh hi. Wow, you look so weird. Your world must be so much more bland than ours. Don't worry, Fox is coming up with a new story. He's just... Trying to find a title, and figure out how he really wants it to go." Jake starts picking his nose, staring you down.
Alex throws a pillow at Jake. "Good job, you found th fourth wall, and broke it. As he said though, Fox is coming up with a new story. Just please be patient. I'm sure he would probably be happy if you were excitedly patient though." Alex looks over at Jake. "Stop that, Jake. It's gross."

New story coming soon, a fanfic for AMAIM Warrior at the Borderline. Get excited, and tell your friends!

Patience
Jake sat at his desk, tapping his foot in frustration. He had been trying to learn more about driving for weeks drivers ED was a breeze. There was an instructor. That was years ago though. He had relied on Alex since then, too help him get places, so he never got his license. Alex had gotten frustrated, and told Jake that he needed to get his license. Alex had even threatened to end their friendship, because Jake was becoming more and more reliant on him.
Jake sat there, frustration growing. He couldn't concentrate. He just wanted to go play some games and relax. Instead, he had been at his desk every evening, studying, so that he could make Alex proud.
"Screw this," Jake said, slamming his fist down on his desk. He got up and went over to his bed, grabbing the controller, and switching his console on.
He was able to play for a few minutes, before there was a knock on his door. He knew that knock. It was Alex.
Jake quickly turned off his game and tried to hide his controller, as Alex entered.
Alex had a box of cookies in his hand. He looked at Jake, looking a little confused. "Aren't you supposed to be studying?"
Jake looked down. "I just needed a break"
"Jake, this is important. I know you're doing it for me, but you need to do it for yourself too." Alex's tone sounded stern, and Jake could hear the caring underneath. He still wanted to punch Alex though.
Jake even imagined how good it would feel. To just hop up off his bed, and feel his fist connect with Alex's face. He knew he would regret it. He was just so frustrated. Everyone always told Jake what to do. No matter how much he tried to explain things to people, especially telling them that he was doing his best, they still just interpreted things in their own way.
Jake felt like no one ever listened. He always tried to tell people what he meant, but things never came out the way he wanted them to. It was like the words wouldn't follow his command. If he tried to tell people he was struggling and needed help, he said that he was doing his best, and left it at that. It was no wonder that Alex was his only true friend.
"Well?" Alex said, leaning against the doorway.
"Shut up!" Jake shouted. "I'm trying, okay?! This is hard for me!" Jake clenched and unclenched his fists, wishing he could say what he really wanted to. The words wouldn't come though. Tears of frustration filled his eyes, and he wiped them.
"Really?" Alex sounded frustrated. "You're going to cry to try and get me to give up?"
"No," Jake said flatly. "You... You know I have trouble speaking."
"Fine," Alex said, shaking his head. "Do whatever you want." He turned to go, taking the cookies with him.
"Wait," Jake said, getting up off his bed.
"What?" Alex's expression was hard to read.
"I'm trying," Jake said. "This isn't easy for me. Please."
Alex sighed. "Okay. You know I just want what's best for you. I might be pushing my own desires on you, but still. This is important, buddy."
"I know," Jake said. "That's why I'm trying." Jake's hands clenched and unclenched again.
Alex noticed, and walked over and patted Jake on the head. "Here, I'll try to help."
Alex sat down with Jake, and tried to help him study.
Friendship is a bond, but it requires patience, and understanding, just like any other relationship. Not everyone thinks, or perceives everything the same way.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 LSB[4] Love is patient, love is kind, is not jealous, does not brag, is not puffed up; [5] it does not act unbecomingly, does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered; [6] it does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; [7] it bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

The Note
Jake got to Alex's house. It was raining lightly, but the clouds were looking ominous as the sunlight faded.
Jake shuddered as the wind blew. He didn't even bother knocking. He just opened the door, and stepped inside.
Mrs. Stone looked up from her puzzle laid out on the coffee table in the living room. "Hello Jacob. So nice to see you. Thank you for knocking. Won't you come in?" She did not seem amused, but she also seemed like she didn't mind.
Jake chuckled nervously. "Sorry. The wind blew and..."
Mrs. Stone smiled softly. "I know, dear. After the accident, you always scurry straight to Alex every time there's a storm."
Jake chuckled uncomfortably. He felt like a coward for being so afraid of a little wind. "W-well, I'm gonna go find Alex now."
Jake sprinted up the stairs, almost knocking Alex's sister Rachel down along the way.
"Watch it, Jake," she said as Jake brushed past. She reached out and lightly tapped Jake on the head.
"Sorry," Jake said, not looking back. Another gust of wind made the house creak, as Jake got to Alex's door. Jake sprang for the bed, and dove under Alex's blanket. Jake's shoes flew off as he jumped.
"What the...?" Alex looked up from his computer to see a Jake shaped lump under his blanket. Then another gust hit the house, and the lump shuddered. "Ah." Alex got up and walked over to the bed and sat down gently. He patted what he thought was Jake's head. "It's okay, buddy. You're safe here."
"Please stop touching my butt..." Jake shifted and his head popped out from under the blanket.
Alex couldn't help but laugh. "Sorry. You can stay there as long as you need though. I need to go get a shower."
Jake looked nervous. "Huh? But we should be going soon, or we'll be late."
"Don't worry you big baby, I won't be long." Alex patted Jake on the head, and he got up and headed for the shower.
Jake sat up on Alex's bed. Alex's room was clean and quiet except for the wind outside. Comic books were stacked on the bookshelf beside Alex's games. The computer hummed softly as Jake sat and thought. The room smelled of cedar and cinnamon. That was Jake's idea. He was happy that his friend took his suggestion seriously. Then he noticed something sticking out of Alex's nightstand drawer. It looked like an old piece of paper. He poked it, but it wouldn't budge, no matter how many times Jake tried.
Jake looked at the piece of paper, frustrated that it wasn't cooperating. He looked towards the door, and then he finally pulled the piece of paper out. It was a note.
He turned it over, and he saw Alex's name, in his own handwriting. Hands trembling, Jake slowly opened the note, and read. He knew every word, but for some reason, it still brought tears to his eyes, and a lump in his throat. He remembered that night. The pain, and waking up. Why had Alex kept this? That had been years ago. Why was it in his nightstand? Did he think Jake would still...?
After a few minutes, Jake heard Alex's approaching footsteps, and he tried to wipe his eyes as best as he could.
Alex came back in to his room. "Are you ready to go y... What's wrong?" Alex froze, seeing his best friend crying.
Jake held up the note. "Why... Why do you still have this? Why didn't you just throw it out?" Jake rubbed the scar on his wrist. I thought we moved on from that."
Alex just looked away. "It's a reminder. I need to be there for you, and be more observant. Plus, if...if you tried again, it might be the only thing I have left of you."
Jake could see a tear welling up in Alex's eye. "You know you get all my stuff if I die." Jake put a hand on Alex's shoulder.
"You know what I mean," Alex said, wiping his eyes.
Jake pulled Alex close, and he hugged him tight. "I know buddy. Sorry."
The two boys hugged a moment, and then Alex pulled back. "Now come on. We're gonna be late for the movie."
The two boys ran downstairs, and Mrs. Stone and Rachel looked up from the couch. "All ready," Mrs. Stone said, smiling.
"Yeah," Alex said. "We'll be back later."
"Be safe," Mrs. Stone said, as the two boys started for the door.
Jake waved to Rachel, but she didn't wave back.
The two boys ran out into the rain, and into the car. Unaware that this drive was going to lead to their next greatest adventure.

It's all good. Lol! TP is probably my favorite Zelda game. Sorry if you got a notif about me posting this twice. Shared it to my horror blog by accident first π«£ I think it would be hilarious to see Wild rescue one of th others like that though π
For th pain sharing au, could you imagine one of th Links getting stuck in line quicksand and needing to be pulled free? They'd probably have to have someone else help. Cause getting pull out while being stuck hurts (I've been stuck in mud past my waist, fun until you gotta get out, especially if some is pulling you) π΅βπ«
Replying a thousand years later π I'm so sorry!
But ooooh, kinda related, but the animation of dying to quicksand in zelda games is so good lol I remember TP's to be super dramatic with link's hand slowly sinking lmao
Anyway, YEAAAAAH, I bet that would hurt a lot..... I had completely forgotten about quicksand, which is like, super dumb of me cause there's quicksand in like almost all zelda games lmao
And ooough I'm so sorry you had to go through that! I've had my leg stuck in mud and the suction force when u pull is so strong like damn!
At least wild could grab whoever is stuck and get them out with the magnesis rune since they all have metal on their person lol

A Faraway Brawl
Jake and Alex were 13, visiting one of Jake's cousins in Faraway Town. Alex had come along for fun, and to keep Jake company, since Jake's cousin was usually busy.
Jake and Alex found themselves wandering in the playground, when they were confronted by a young blond boy about their age. He told them to practice their fighting skills, because there was a "war" coming.
Jake fell for the act, hook, line, and sinker. "Yes sir," Jake said, saluting. He nudged Alex, until Alex saluted too, rolling his eyes.
The blond boys gaze lingered on Jake's tank top. "I haven't seen you before. Are you from around here?"
Jake shook his head vigorously. "Nope. I just borrowed this from my cousin. He's on the basketball team. Kinda stinks to be honest."
"Yeah," Alex said, giving Jake a weird look.
"Whatever," the blond boy said, walking away. "I'll be right back. You two train and get ready."
When the blond boy was out of sight, Jake jumped into a fighting stance, facing Alex. "Okay buddy, get ready. I'm not gonna hold back."
Alex looked at Jake with a slightly annoyed look. "Jake. I'm not fighting. That guy is probably an idiot."
Jake hesitated a second. "But what about the war?"
Alex just rolled his eyes. "Obviously he's making that up."
"No way," Jake said, not believing Alex. "Maybe you're one of the enemy, or you're being mind controlled."
Alex just rolled his eyes again. "Look Jake..."
He didn't have time to finish his sentence, because Jake rushed forward. Alex swiftly dodged, and Jake collided with a tree. There was a nice 'THUD!' as the tree shook, and Jake fell to the ground, holding his nose.
"OWWWWWW! OHHHHHHH! AAAAAEGGS! YOU BUSSID MAH NOBE!" Jake wailed.
"I told you I wasn't going to fight you," Alex said, helping Jake up. "Let me see," Alex said, pulling Jake's hands away from his bloody nose.
Jake's hands were bloody, and he had tears streaming down his cheeks. His nose was still bleeding, but it wasn't that bad.
"You'll be fine you big baby. Pinch it shut though," Alex instructed.
"I cand. Id hurbs." Jake whined.
Alex reached up and pinched Jake's nose shut, making Jake howl. "Shut up, Jake. It's for your own good."
Just then, the blond boy returned. "What happened?"
Alex looked at the blond boy, feeling very annoyed. "He thought I was with the 'enemy', so he rushed me. I dodged and he ran into a tree. This is your fault, I hope you know."
As Alex glared at the boy, the boys expression darkened. "Maybe you are with the enemy. Prepare yourself!"
As the blond boy started to approach, another figure appeared, drawn by the commotion.
"What's going on here?" It was Kel. His lanky figure a welcome sight. He was wearing a tank top like Jake's, and he mistook Jake for a teammate at first. "Mikhail, are you harassing my teammates again?"
The blond boy looked livid. "I told you not to call me that! I'm The Maverick! Get. It. RIGHT!"
Kel just stood there, nonplussed. "Still wearing that wig too, huh?"
The Maverick touched his hair, absentmindedly. Alex was feeling very confused at this conversation.
"I'll show you!" The Maverick yelled, rushing towards Kel. Kel expertly dodged and grabbed The Maverick's blond hair, which came off, revealing black hair underneath. The Maverick looked stunned, before he grabbed the wig and running off, crying.
Kel walked over and looked Jake over. "Hey, you aren't one of my teammates."
Jake just shook his head, looking scared.
Alex spoke for him. "We're just visiting his cousin. I think his cousin is your teammate."
"Oh cool," Kel said. "I'm Kel. I'll show you two around."
Kel reached his hand out, and Alex took it, introducing himself and Jake. The three spent the remainder of the afternoon exploring Faraway Town, and becoming fast friends.

Faraway Fun
The summer sun beat down on our favorite trio. Sunny, Basil, and Kel wandered the park, wearing swimming trunks, making sure they weren't followed, and then they slipped into the woods and came out by the small lake. Their secret spot. This summer had been so hot though, that the lake was almost just a puddle.
The statue in the middle of the "lake" looked down on a mostly muddy expanse.
"Oh no," Basil said, his shoulders drooping. "I was so looking forward to swimming." He pulled at his green tank top to try and cool down.
Sunny's signature black tank top was almost comp soaked through.
"Aren't you hot," Basil said, looking at Sunny sweating.
Sunny's face was stoic as he gave Basil a thumbs up, as a bead of sweat rolled down his forehead.
"WELL I'M JUST FINE!" Kel yelled, making Basil jump.
Basil turned to see Kel standing there, sweating almost as much as Sunny, but grinning from ear to ear. Basil just chuckled and wiped sweat off his own forehead. "So what now?"
Sunny shrugged, and Kel just said, "We can still swim. Just gotta make it to the water! Race ya!"
Kel kicked off his shoes, and he started running forward, his feet squelching in the mud with each step. 'squelch-splat-glop! Squelch-splat-glop!'
After about 40 steps, Kel stopped and looked back. He was almost up to his knees, and sinking a little. "Come on guys! This is great!" As he turned to move on, he almost fell forward. Sunny and Basil couldn't hear what Kel was saying, but they could see him trying to pull his feet out, and sinking.
When Kel got past his knees, he turned back to Sunny and Basil, his face lit up with excitement. "This is so much fun! I think I'm stuck, too!"
Basil looked panicked and looked at Sunny. "What do we do...?"
Sunny just grinned and gave Basil a thumbs up again, as if to say, 'you got this.'
Basil's jaw dropped. "You're... You want me to rescue him?"
Sunny just grinned and then pointed towards Kel and shouted, "Go Basil! I choose you to save the day!"
Basil just chuckled nervously and started wading into the mud, making softer squelching sounds with each step. 'Schlup-plop. Schlup-plop'
Kel was up to his bellybutton by the time Basil got to him. He stopped thrashing about as Basil approached. "Oh hey Basil. Careful, or you might get stuck too, " Kel says, sounding slightly winded. He knew that Basil would really panic if he got stuck. Basil was fragile that way.
"Y-yeah," Basil said, looking back towards Sunny. The mud was past Basil's shins, and as he looked back, Sunny grinned again and gave another thumbs up.
Basil tried to ignore the feeling of dread knawing at his stomach as he felt his own legs slowly sinking. "O-okay, Kel. Time to come out," Basil said, trying to keep the tremble out of his voice, and trying to sound authoritative.
"Awwwwwww, really?" Kel gave Basil a sad look, having sank even further. "This is so much fun though." Kel started moving more, sinking, and making Basil panic.
In a flash, Basil's hands darted out and he grabbed Kel under his armpits. He started to tug, and Kel stopped thrashing about.
Kel came up a little, as Basil sank past his thighs. "Wow Basil, I didn't know you were this strong."
On the shore, Sunny watched, a look of amusement on his face.
Just then, Hero came popping out of the trees. "There you are... What's happening...?" Hero's expression went from happy and friendly, to concerned.
Sunny turned to look at Hero. "Oh, hey Hero. Kel got stuck, and Basil is trying to save him," Sunny said in a nonchalant way.
Hero pulled his shoes off and jumped into action, trudging right into the mud. He reached Basil and Kel, just as Basil had pulled Kel most of the way out. Basil was now past his bellybutton, and Hero, having absolutely no stamina, panted as he put a hand on Basil's shoulder.
"I'll... I'll take it from here... Basil," Hero said between gasps. Hero was past his knees and was slowly sinking, as he pulled Kel free of the mud and ordered him to crawl for shore.
"Hero?" Basil looked at Hero with a worried expression. Basil was almost to his chest, and Hero grabbed hold and pulled Basil hard. Basil, being so light, came right out with a small 'pop'. What happened to Hero and Basil, you might ask? Well, Basil went up in the air and came down two feet behind Hero with a nice loud 'splat-thud!'. As for Hero, he fell flat on his back, or as flat as he could with his legs stuck in the mud, making a nice 'splorch!'.
Sunny watched everything and fell to the ground. He couldn't help but laugh so hard his sides hurt, and tears started streaming from his eyes. Watching Kel crawl like some kind of mud monster, Basil flying into the air, and Hero doing such a perfect splat was just too much. He rolled on the ground, laughing, until Kel reached the shore.
"Sunny? A little help?" Kel asked, panting, laying on the mud, holding a hand out to Sunny.
Sunny wiped his eyes, and sat up, holding his sides as he crawled forward to take Kel's hand and pull him ashore.
They both looked out across to mud, too see Basil, now covered in mud, crawling towards Hero, who looked dazed. Basil was crawling on his hands and knees, and as he pulled Hero up, even Kel and Sunny could hear this sickening 'squelch!'. Sunny and Kel looked at each other and burst out laughing.
Basil pulled Hero from the mud, and then Hero had to pull Basil back out as well, before they both started crawling for shore. Sunny and Kel helped pull Hero and Basil to safety, three of the boys now covered in mud. Hero panting, Basil trembling slightly, Kel grinning from ear to ear, and Sunny... Sunny was clean, and looking at the trees, trying to not catch anyone's attention.
"Well," Hero said, finally catching his breath. Now we're all covered in mud."
"Yeah," Basil said, looking down at himself, his tank top now green and brown.
Kel looked over at Sunny and grinned. "Not all of us..."
Hero and Basil looked at Sunny, and Hero grinned. "Hey Sunny, come here a moment," Hero said, trying to sound friendly.
Basil looked up at Hero, and Hero grinned and winked at Basil. Finally Basil caught on. "Yeah, Sunny. Come here."
Sunny looked back suspiciously, and his eyes widened as all three of his friends surrounded him and gave him a nice big muddy hug.
"Mmmmf! Nnnnnghhh!" Sunny struggled to free himself from the muddy him, but rumor says his he is still being hugged to this day. Another victim of the mud monsters.
