it disturbs me that a significant number of people think that the issue with sexual violence, gendered violence, and misogyny is sexual desire rather than dehumanization, so they are relentlessly suspicious of others' (and their own) desires while simultaneously never at all interrogating others' (and their own) dehumanizing beliefs about other people, both within and outside of sexual contexts
#yeah#sexual misconduct comes from an issue of principles#fight the principles to fight the misconduct#policing horniness doesnt really fix anything#you need to worry about people's lack of compassion and willingness to be cruel or view others with lessened value#the narrative that someone gets so horny they can't stop themselves from doing bad things is a ridiculous lie we're encouraged to believe#people get so disconnected from MORALITY that their sexual needs run rampant in a harmful outlet. they may feel GUILT but still#do you really believe someone who commits sexual violence is just an overall great person#who both views and treats others excellently?#this is why it matters to build up good people with real principles#they neednt be flawless even. cause nobody with decent principles reasonably enacted is going to commit INHUMANE ATROCITIES#it also just makes people better to coexist with in general#meanwhile sexual shame tends to create more problems than it “fixes”#foxx take
