PERSONALITY: Etsuko is most commonly and easily described as a “mean bitch”, and while she is both mean and a bitch, she is also incredibly intelligent, cunning, and sly. Etsuko is a pro at hiding her own emotions and getting a job done, even if that means going against what she really feels. She rarely makes her motives known on top of that, being a very secretive person by nature. She also relies very heavily on her sibling; it’s said that without Tsubasa, Etsuko is essentially nothing. Notably, she is only ever bold when Tsubasa is around, though she is almost never truly aggressive, with or without them nearby. APPEARANCE: Etsuko has mostly-straight, neatly-done black hair which curls at the tips, and is tinted purple. She is very small, almost dainty, with a thin bone structure and thin face. Her face is more similar to Kokichi’s than Rantaro’s or Tsubasa’s, and she has very little muscle. Her eyes are big and round, giving her a doe-eyed appearance, and are fully heterochromatic violet and green. Etsuko has expressed being upset with her heterochromia, because she feels as though it unfairly alienates her from her sibling and draws more attention to herself.

Essentially in this verse, there is a specific science division in Hope’s Peak. That science division is tasked with the study of talent and how it translates in the real world, essentially, and they decided as a part of their experimentation, they were going to take the DNA of alumni they had on hand (the kids we know as the main cast from the games are now alumni by this point) and use it to create test tube babies that they could essentially use as experiments until the day came when they were no longer useful, at which point they could be terminated.

They didn’t exactly count on some of those kids escaping when they got older, thus alerting the world – and their unknowing parents – to their existence. So now there’s a whole bunch of kids who need taking care of, by parents who have families of their own (and often not with the other parent of their test tube child) and a whole bunch of problems to worry about. Oh, and a lot of the kids have supernatural abilities thanks to the testing that was done on them, so there’s that too!

Basically, Hope’s Peak Science Division is fucked up and did fucked up things and now the alumni and the next gen kids have to deal with what’s going on. It’ll likely be a mix of a comic/art series as well as a written series when I do it, after I get the main kid profiles up and running. This au also deals with kids from SDRA2 characters! But not DRA cause I haven’t really been able to find much on that game yet that’s been reliably translated. Sorry about that, fellas.

Rui Souda - Fanchild Profile

Introduction

Born December 23rd to Kazuichi Souda and Ryota Mitarai as their magic-born daughter, she is not a girl to be trifled with, and is also not a girl who is easy to befriend or get close to. Her parents are not and were never romantically involved, so she was born of magic unintentionally. Although she has a lot of intelligence regarding her craft, she is not conventionally smart, and often gets confused with difficult or abstract concepts. She was a participant in the first killing game of class 101-A. She holds the title of Ultimate Robotics Master.

Personality

The first thing most people notice about Rui first is that she is rather unwelcoming and quick to snap at others. She is often described as rude and aggressive as well, and is a person who does better working on her own rather than with others. Therefore, it comes as little surprise to most people that she is a loner with few friends. Even so, Rui has a soft spot for women, and tends to get flustered and nervous around them. When she isn’t flustered and nervous, she tries to show off, either with her physical strength or her prowess with robots. She loves getting attention from women, even though she gets highly nervous when it happens.

Rui does her best to make herself as unappealing to men as possible, as she doesn’t like them and treats them with caution or sometimes outright hostility. She has her reasons for doing so, but they are closely guarded. She prefers not to divulge a lot of personal information about herself or her family, which makes her relationship with Itsuko strange but understandable, as they both tend to be undersharers. Despite her attempts to stay mostly removed from any kind of personal relationship, she does crave attention and validation, and above all, love. She is a kind person at heart, but her kindness is sometimes overshadowed by her aggressive, antagonistic behavior.

Rui is a genderqueer girl and she is lesbian.

History

Born to Kazuichi Souda and Ryota Mitarai on December 23rd at 5:59 PM, Rui was a quiet child to start with. Although she had a good disposition, she rarely ever voiced any kind of discomfort or upset unless something was really wrong with her or someone around her. However, an incident when she was about twelve would change all of that. She was nearly assaulted by a much older man when walking home from school, and though she never told anyone about what had happened, it very much affected her. She almost completely changed her behavior, becoming far more aggressive and loud and dressing differently. It was also around this time when she started to completely throw herself into robotics, finding robots much easier to deal with than people. She was accepted into Hope’s Peak not long after as the Ultimate Robotics Master, when she created a robot able to make decisions between multiple choices at the age of thirteen.

Fun Facts

- Rui has created thousands of robots, though most of them have never and will never see the light of day.

- She is actually colorblind like her father, Kazuichi, which partially explains her lack of fashion sense and inability to match colors. When it comes to colored wiring in robots, however, Rui explains that she was able to essentially memorize what shades of alternate colors she can see correspond to what colors the wires actually are.

- Despite her tendency to be violent towards people, Rui is kind and gentle towards animals and young children specifically. She is more kind than she would like people to believe.

Itsuko Ikusaba - Fanchild Profile

Introduction

Born on July 24th, Itsuko Ikusaba is the magic-born daughter of Sayaka Maizono and Mukuro Ikusaba, though she was born of magic intentionally unlike many of her peers. Although she is described as being very beautiful, and someone many people want to get close to, she generally does not take kindly to others, especially strangers, and prefers to be left alone. She was a participant in the first killing game and a member of class 101-A. She holds the title of the Ultimate Drill Sergeant.

Personality

Itsuko is not and has never been described as a particularly friendly person. While she is not aggressive, she is very evasive, often not fully answering questions, especially when they pertain to herself and her family life. Although she is intelligent, Itsuko is somewhat naive, not understanding why people would lie or commit crimes, or intentionally go against what she considers to be “fate”. She doesn’t seem to understand either why people would be intentionally cruel or manipulative, though she does her best to keep most of her personal information out of other people’s hands so it cannot be used against her.

If someone can get past her cold exterior, Itsuko is actually a very devoted and loyal person. If one can become friends with her, she generally does not break her ties. Unless she considers you to have done something completely heinous and unforgivable, it’s unlikely she’ll stop considering you as a friend once she starts, since she has so few friends. Despite believing heavily in fate, and stating that she does not intend to ever fight her own fate, she has been known to go against these beliefs when it comes to someone she desperately cares for.

Although she is not a very outwardly emotional person, Itsuko has described her inner feelings as being tumultuous and stormy. When she feels as though she can’t take it anymore, she’ll lock herself in her room and cry for a few hours until she feels better, or take out anger on a training dummy.

Itsuko is a trans girl, and she is also a lesbian.

History

Itsuko is the first of two children of Sayaka and Mukuro, and she was born on July 24th. As a young child, she was very interested in Mukuro’s history as a solider, which she was not interested in sharing. Upon doing her own research into her mother’s background, Itsuko only became more interested in working with the military, though she was unsure where she stood on being a solider specifically. It didn’t take long, however, for her to realize that she had a knack for not only following, but also giving, orders. That combined with her previous interest in the military led her to the idea of becoming a drill sergeant. Though it began as a personal passion, it wasn’t long before Itsuko started attracting attention with her success rates among her students and her ability to command a large group without making a single mistake, so it seemed. She was accepted into Hope’s Peak as the Ultimate Drill Sergeant not long after her official career began.

Trivia/Fun Facts

- Itsuko loves cats and dogs, and very much has soft spots for them. She has a cat plushie she often carries around with her secretly.

- Itsuko is described as almost never having a blemish on her skin despite her job, but she reveals this is because she is very good at makeup. She claims to have learned this from her mother Sayaka.

- Itsuko explains that she is often pushed to cry quite easily, but has trained herself to often be unable to cry in most situations.

A Primer on Magicverse

First and foremost, it is important to remember that in Magicverse, there really isn't much different socially from the world we live in today. Most of the government structures remain the same, and so do many laws, except that in most cases, homosexual/same-gender/polyamorous relationships are not illegal. However, child marriage is very much illegal and so is pedophilia so please don't get any icky ideas. I'm not into that, you shouldn't be into that, and we're just not gonna talk about why it's bad here because that's an entirely different subject!

The most important thing you need to remember about Magicverse when it comes to my kids is that energy magic is what causes magic babies to be born/created and everyone has energy magic that they need to live. Energy magic is used for simple everyday spells that everyone can cast regardless of skill level (though skill level does affect how well the spell comes out). The whole process of magic babies is explained a little bit later.

In Magicverse, everyone is born with two types of Magic plus the energy magic everyone needs to live. They get one form of type-specific magic from each biological parent, and the type of Magic they inherit from each parent is random. For example, Mondo's magic set is Primary Mental and Secondary Water. Taka's magic set is Primary Physical and Secondary Fire. So, their offspring will either inherit Mental or Water from Mondo, and Physical or Fire from Taka. In Haruhi's (their eldest daughter) case, she inherited Mental from Mondo and Fire from Taka. See how that works? It's pretty easy, since there's no dominance/co-dominance/recessive genes or anything involved in magic. It's literally just luck of the draw.

In Magicverse, there are two ways to make a baby that is genetically related to both parents (AKA without going through surrogacy or adoption). The first method is the usual way of making babies, you know the one. But, of course, this isn't always applicable, as sometimes the parents wouldn't be able to have a baby that way normally. Although science has advanced to the point where stem cells can be used to create gametes which can then be used to create embryos which are implanted into a donor womb, this is tricky and doesn't always work.

Thus bringing us to the second method of reproduction, which is not always voluntary: energy magic. When two people share an emotionally intense moment, there is an approximate 25% chance of their energy magic fusing temporarily. When two energy magic streams are fused for any amount of time, there is a chance of a new soul being born from that union. However, energy magic is a strange type of creature in its behavior. The emotionally intense moment can be just about anything, and the parents don't always know that the energy fusion has taken place until a few days later.

No pregnancy is involved with magic babies, as the name might suggest, they are born of magic and therefore don't need to grow inside of a womb. However, the parents will know before a magic baby is born that they are expecting one. One of the parents (chosen completely at random yet again) will have a ball of energy appear within their vicinity, almost always within their home. Usually, they don't yet know who the other parent is; that's discovered after the baby itself forms around the ball of energy, referred to as a soul. It's said that the parent receiving the magic baby gets a vision of the other parent that is never wrong, though those who are skeptical can have DNA tests done. Either way, you get the same result.

Two weeks after the ball of energy appears, it will rapidly collapse in on itself in a bright flash, and in its place will be a newborn human, usually average-sized. There is no such thing as a premature magic baby, however some magic babies can be born sickly if one of the parents is sick at the time of "conception", so to speak, or has a chronic illness like in Kaito's case. As far as development goes, magic babies are entirely normal and indistinguishable from normally-born babies. They face little to no stigma from society thanks to this.

So, to sum it all up:

Energy magic exists and can create babies.

Babies can be created from an emotionally intense moment between two people, no matter if they are the same gender, dating, etc. The only limits are that blood and adoptive relatives cannot make magic babies, children under the age of 18 can't make them, significant age gaps (10 or more years) cannot produce them, and abusive relationships will never result in a magic-born child.

It takes about two and a half weeks for a magic baby to be "born", but there is no pregnancy. Rather, a large ball of energy which appears in one parent's home is the source of their birth.

Magic babies are literally no different to normally-born human babies, as they are all human. They develop and grow at exactly the same pace as their peers. Thanks to this, there is little societal rejection of them, however many are often placed up for adoption by parents who feel as though they cannot keep them or are not ready to keep a child.

Babies can, also, of course, be born the complete normal way. There's nothing wrong with that, either.
