what drives ME crazy about the “cas” and sam scenes in the vessel is that it doesn’t seem to rankle sam at ALL that cas is being so mean and dismissive in that moment. like it’s obviously incredibly out of character for cas but sam has so much faith and trust in him that he doesn’t even pause. sam immediately jumps to rationalizing it as cas being worried about dean. sam & cas working together to save dean is how he spent the entire last season and he should KNOW that cas doesn’t treat him like this even at his most worried about dean but he just… refuses to think the worst of him. i mean obviously sam had no idea that an angel can possess another angel but there’s NO hesitation in sam offering up his soul even if he thinks cas is having an off day or being uncharacteristically mean. no questions asked. for sam winchester of all people to have that level of implicit trust in someone and have it immediately betrayed… well, i just [screams]
